  1. Welcome to the site. I have my last NUT meeting at the end of the month, and I'll be ready to submit for insurance approval. Hoping to get an early August date.
  2. That's amazing drive and dedication. Keep up the good work!
  3. That's wonderful news, everybody! I can't wait until I can say mine are normal and no more meds!
  4. Wow! What a great start! Rock that sleeve!
  5. Woohoo!!!!! Congratulations! I know you must be sooooooo happy!
  6. I had a sleep study done, but it was done with a machine the company mailed me. I stayed hooked up to it for a few hours each day for 3 days, then I mailed it back to them. I tested negative, and my copay was $13 bucks for it.
  7. Good Luck to you and I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  8. Congratulations! You must be so excited!
  9. Congratulations! I hope you start to feel better real soon. I have to have a hiatal hernia repair also, so I have some questions for you when you start to feel better.
  10. I don't have a date yet, but I got inspired by everybody and started a high protein/ low carb diet. My biggest struggle has been eliminating sodas from my diet (I was a heavy Dr. Pepper drinker). I'm so not looking forward to the liquid pre-op diet.
  11. Ironically, I struggled (and am still struggling) with the decision to have the surgery. Telling people I'm having it (still don't know if I'm going to through with it) was the easiest thing to do.
  12. I'm going to have single incision surgery too. Glad to know it makes a difference in recovery since I'll have limited time off from work. If you don't mind my asking, "Where was your pain? Was it sharp or more like soreness?" Thanks!
  13. Wow!!! You're rocking that 58 pounds lost! Keep up the good work.
  14. Congratulations! I have Cigna too and I'm hoping to be able to stop the weight loss supervision after 3 months under the new policy. I could actually have surgery this summer if they allow it. Enough about me, congrats again.
  15. Congratulations! I see Cigna came through for you. I hope they do the same for me. What's your date?
  16. I've lost 40 pounds too many times to count, I've lost over 100 pounds twice in my 36 years, and gained every pound back plus some every time. I obviously can't lose 100 pounds a few more times as I get older. Also, the 100+ weight gain this time bought me a diagnosis of both hypertension and diabetes. The time to "do it myself" has come and gone. I need this surgery just like the person that can't lose 2 pounds.
  17. Hello everybody, I was wondering if anyone can tell me what needs to be in the PCP letter for insurance purposes. I want to make sure it's appropriate for approval the first go round. Also, my PCP has some reservations about the sleeve, but not the band. She keeps trying to talk me into the band, so I've just started mentioning that I'm planning to forward with weight loss surgery, and not mention what type specifically. Can the letter say just weight loss surgery, or does it have to say what type of surgery specifically?
  18. Do the Atkins Advantage shakes meet the requirements? I can guzzle those things down. I can almost convince myself that they're chocolate milk, if I add a lot of ice.
  19. This is a subject I've been thinking about too, mainly because I only get 30 min. for lunch at work and it's hard to drink anything in between (OR nurse). I'm worried about becoming dehydrated, so I was wondering how long before I could drink faster? It'll take the entire 30 min. just to chew the food, nevermind taking sips of water AFTER eating.
  20. I know the place, lol! I've had two laparoscopic surgeries and went back to work in two weeks (I'm a nurse), but everyone keeps saying this surgery is like no other, so I'm afraid. I'm sure we'll both be fine, it's just the fear of the unknown. Let me know if you need anything, I'll be glad to help.
  21. Let me know how everything goes! Where is your surgery scheduled? I'm a little afraid, what about you?
