Eating Bread
I can eat a piece of well toasted whole grain bread. Fresh bread is evil for me.

It Works!!!!
Very sensible Donna. It' true that I am impatient and I should use this time to concentrate on taking smaller bites and chewing properly so I won't PB every day after my second fill.

Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals
Louise that is exactly what has happened with me! I got 4ccs, felt restriction for a week and lost 7 lbs. Now it feels like I could eat anything again and have gained 2. AAAARGH!

2nd fill TLBC July 4th
Hi Rob - I have an appt for 9:30 am on the 4th. I was feeling lots of restriction and then all of a sudden it went away! I got 4 ccs, so maybe another 1 or 1.5 will help again.

It Works!!!!
So it's not working so good today! I noticed last night that I have been able to eat way more than I did last week. And I am very hungry in between meals. I have my second fill July 4th - and I hope that will help things along.

3rd fill
Sounds like you might need another fill. Are you losing 1-2 lbs per week?

Wow! DonnaD that's great. How do you feel after your second fill?

Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals
I am perfectly fine now - but it took about 2 weeks until everything was "out" and I became regular again. I really thought for a while that it was going to become a chronic problem for me, but that does not seem to be the case. I hope you feel better soon and this gets all cleared up. It must be very painful.

Welcome! and congratulations on your first 14 lbs!

Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals
Oh Loriely, I had a scare with constipation about a month ago! Ended up in Emerg. It was awful. I take benefibre in my water once or twice a day and use regular skim milk instead of lactose free and I am much better. Also, Kashi cereal has a ton of fibre. Are you okay?

What do you do after you PB
Yes, I did retch, an now I feel a slight burning sensation, so I will stay on liquids for the day. Do you guys PB often?

What do you do after you PB
Thank you. I hadn't PBed since last Tuesday, so this was a bit of a surprise. I think I may have taken those first few bites too quickly. This does take some time to learn doesn't it?
-
What do you do after you PB
I just PB'ed the first few bites of my lunch so threw it out. When you PB do you go on liquids for the rest of the day? I only have my first fill for a week, so I am still learning what the best thing would be.

Diabetic Bandsters?
How about an area where those of us living with diabetes and the band can share thoughts and tips. For example now that I am banded and filled, I am finding I am haveing many low blood sugars and would love to hear how others are handling that. Thanks for your consideration

Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals
When I went for my fill we got a sheet which gives the characteristics of not enough fill, perfect fill and too much fill. It does not say that you cannot eat in the morning when you are perfectly filled. I had a coffee earlier and just finished a yogurt with berries (NEVER thought I would eat yogurt again)! IT was one of those TIm Horton ones, and now I feel satisified. About my low blood sugars, I am fortunate that I can tell when I am having one pretty easily. I will start to feel very hungry, then shake and start sweating profusely. I treat with 1/2 c. of juice and then some longer lasting carbs. I used to hve 1/2 cheese sandwhich, but I can no longer do that and I also find that not everything goes down quickly enough, so last night I took a small bowl of light ice cream and that worked really well. I think it was the perfect amount, because I did not have a high spike this morning, instead my BS was perfect. Trial and error!

It Works!!!!
LL - The first question the fill nurse asked me to determine if I had any restriction was if I could eat untoasted bread. I could not so she gave me 4 cc instead of 5. I would guess that you don't have any restriction yet, but not to worry you will!!!

Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals
I think I am close, but not quite there. I can definitely eat in the morning, but a small amount (1 piece of toast with cheese). I do find that I am restricted throughout the day - each meal is small and ends with me feeling full. Later in the evening, I do find that I am hungry and will have a snack. The only problem I am having right now is I am used to taking my insulin before my meal based on what I am eating. I have had a number of low blood sugars, because I just can't get to the carbs/starch part of my meal. Then I need to eat again when I go low. I think I will start taking my insulin after I eat, based on what I actually eat and see how that goes. It is not optimal, but hopefully it won't be bad either.

It Works!!!!
I have to say that terrifies me too! I go back on July 4th, but if I am still as restricted as I am now, I will probably cancel that one. It's so hard to tell this early in the process.

It's not the bracelet itself - but with Medic alert they have all your medical info on file and the ER people can contact them and your doctors.

First Fill
I had some stuck problems before with certain foods like white bread. The fill nurse asked me about any problems with eting certain foods and when I told her about the bread, she told me she was giving me 4cc instead of 5 for my first fill. Since Wednesday everything has been going great! I can't believe how well t his is working for me. I just have to remember to CHEW and take small bites. No more PBs and a wonderful feeling of being full and satisified with a small amount of food.

Stacy that looks like a fine site, but since most of us here in the Canadian thread are from Canada, it would be best that Canadians use a Canadian product.
