  1. Hi JoJo, About telling your boys... I have a 9 year old daughter and I too was worried about waht to tell her. I decided to tell her the truth but I prefaced it with...You know how mommy has struggled with her weight, even since I was as young as you....now I am doing this to get healthy because unlike other people eating healthy and exercising have not worked for me..... She seems fine with it and then we talked about her eating healthy and she is doing great! I go for surgery next week and she is very supportive. Good luck with your consult (Same day as my surgery) Susan
  2. Donna - I think you are doing a better job than me. I am going to eat more.
  3. I think you might be right LL. I forced myself to eat a little more so far and I am starting to feel better. Thanks.
  4. Dear Leslie Lee, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. How very tragic. I hope your hurt will heal over time. I think we all have to be grateful that we are able to do something about this disease. It is almost like your friend dying while waiting for a heart or kidney transplant. I am glad though that your resolve is strenghtened now - I am sure that he would be very proud and happy for you. Thinking of you, Susan
  5. Thanks everyone for all your support. Much appreciated.
  6. Of course!! It's about accountability for me. I feel safe here on this board - no judgements, no snarky remarks so it is a good place for me to be totally honest.
  7. Good luck. I'm sure you will do great! It's funny because this is the start of my second week and I feel worse than I did last week!
  8. Thanks, I have been drinking alot of water. I will continue to do so.
  9. HAve they responded to you yet?
  10. Did you express your anger with them and how did they react?
  11. I take a med that is in a large capsule and is timed release. I spoke to my doctor and pharmacist and then called the maker of the drug. Inside are tiny beads so she suggested that I open them up and put the beads on a spoon and then chase them down with water.
  12. Hi Newdawnings, welcome. I cannot tell you anything about life after band as I still have nother 10 days to go. I can tell you that when I made the decision to go ahead a was as nervous as you. My best advice would be to hang around this board. There is so much information and so many nice people that all your questions will be answered before long. When is your date? Susan
  13. Headache, tired, nauseous....did any one else feel like this on the preop? Having trouble getting anything done at work.
  14. I just finished week one of my preop cottage cheese and yogurt diet and lost 14 lbs. I have another 10 days to go. I am hoping to lose 20 before I get banded. Susan
  15. You'll do great Mr. Y - keep your eye on the prize! (Although I don't envy you having to wok with food all day - All I bought at the grocery this week was convenience foods for DH to throw in the microwave)
  16. That's great Brookelaney! I agree that the main reason is to shrink your liver which is important to successful surgery. The "side effect" of getting a jump start on weight loss is a bonus!
  17. My ticker moved!!! Boy that feels good. Worth the dreaded CC&Y. Another week and 1/2 to go. Last night I didn't think I would make it. I was climbing the walls, but I feel better this morning and getting on the scale definitely helped. Onwards!
  18. My surgery is May 2nd and I started my pre op a little early. I lost 14 lbs the first week and am now starting the 2nd. It is hard, but stick to it and the results are worthwhile. Good luck Susan
  19. Made it throught the movie! I am excited to see the results I get on the scale tomorrow morning. I of course have been weighing myself everyday, but tomorrow is the official 1 week and I will change my ticker. I can do this!!!!
  20. You win when see your sizes going down, the scale going down and you feel so much better about yourself! Little slips Donna, I wouldn't worry about it - you are almost there. Susan
  21. Hi Mandi, The Danone Silhouette is fine, Astro makes a 0% fat - no sugar as does Source. Let us know how it's going.
  22. Chips, no dips and Ben & Jerry and I make a really hot threesome!
  23. Hi Green! Nice to see you here. Thanks for the tips. Today will be a challenge for me as I am going to see a movie with a girlfriend. I LOVE MOVIE POPCORN and I am sure that the smell will be difficult. But I will buy a diet soda and that will fill me up. 1 1/2 weeks until I join the ranks. I am very excited!!! I had to go buy a robe yesterday because I never wear one at home and I need it for the hospital, so I went into Penningtons. You know what. There are a lot of obese people. Not just me and not just at Penningtons! I went to the food court to find my DH and daughter and was just noticing how many people are not just fat...but truly obese. I am so glad that I am able to do this. I don't want to be one of those unhealthy looking people any longer! When we went grocery shooping yesterday I told DH that it is too difficult for me to cook so we bought lots of microvave entrees and he said he will wing it this week. I am very proud of him. Especially because we bought chicken drumsticks and he made shake and bake which my daughter loves. (Okay the mased potatoes were ready made, but asd he said he is working his way up and tonight will serve a vegetable)! I adore him!!! :kiss2:
  24. Since I already went to the seminar, I won't go again because I have to arrange child care etc. and Mr. Silver has his hands full with me being on the CC&Y diet! I am sure we will all meet in time....
