  1. Saggy skin is not a by-product of one weight loss method versus another. An individual can have saggy skin after weight loss whether the weight loss is by diet, diet and exercise, or weight loss surgery. Bottom line is that the weight loss can cause the skin to sag, not the method used to lose the weight. Some factors to consider are age, because our skin becomes less elastic the older we get and the amount of weight one loses. For those who lose large amounts of weight, there may be some skin issues, but that can be corrected after the weight comes off. For me personally, I'd rether worry about the health issues I face by NOT losing the weight, and deal with any sagging of my skin later, after I'm once again thin and healthy. Good luck to you, and I hope you found this helpful.
  2. It seems like you do need more calories if you're working out that much. Your body is practically in starvation mode, trying to conserve because you are burning so much. Try increasing calories (proteins and carbs) by a couple of hundred and see if that kick starts your weight loss again
  3. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    Sex? What's that? LOL
  5. I am in Texas also and I know what you mean about the heat! I try to get out in the morning before it gets too bad, but I have suffered through a couple of days out there walking in the blazing sun! I actually cut my walk a bit short on Saturday because I started to get a little sick to my stomach.I think everyone's body adjusts a bit differently and I do what I feel my body will allow me to do. Believe me, I'm not trying to be anyone's hero!....LOL. As to the water, I keep an insulated container of ice water in the car, and when I finish my walk, I sip it for a bit while cooling down and on my way back home. I really believe you will be pleasantly surprised at what you'll be able to do after surgery. I wish you all the best!
  6. I started walking 1.5 miles 2 days after surgery. I'm 2 weeks out today, and I've walked up tp 4 miles a day on occasion. As long as I feel no discomfort, my doctor says it's fine. I can begin swimming this week, but no weights for another 4 weeks.
  7. 215.4 on 7/9Getting my liquids, protein and maintaining my cardio schedule
  8. Oh yeah, it's on! 10 days post op and this will be my first challenge... HW: 245 Surgery 6/25/12: 232 SW 7/5/12: 219 GW 9/3/12: 180 Cardio 5 days/week 50-80 g Protein daily 60-80 oz liquids daily Onederland, here I come!
  9. Addison, good luck! You will not regret it!
  10. I'm 4 days out now and drinking has been much easier. I sip water or Isopure at about 4 oz. at a time which satisfies me. Pain has been really minimal and it gets better every day. I hope for looking ahead that the pain slows down and allows you to get around better. Sugar free drinks count in your totals, yes.
  11. Will do Jane Please add me to your friends list
  12. Everything is fine with me, I hope I didn't give the wrong impression. I feel great and just returned from a 1.3 mile walk. I was just curious about how much liquid people are comfortably tolerating, so I can sort of see where I might fit. Thanks for the advice
  13. Well, after 6 months of waiting and anticipation I finally got sleeved on Monday 6/25! I was discharged from the hospital yesterday....Pain has been managable but the 1 thing I'm having some trouble with is knowing when I've had enough to drink. I try to drink as instructed but I don't have a sense of fullness, or hunger for that matter, at all. Could anyone tell me how they knew when they have reached fullness, especially since I'm restricted to clear liquids.
  14. My surgery is June 25th, and I was told my stay would be 1 night.
  15. I'm jealous because I am also on day 4 but my pre-op diet is for 2 weeks! I don't get sleeved until 6/25 and my Dr. doesn't offer any alternatives. It's liquids only, period (and sugar free Jello).....I get through it by reminding myself that a couple of weeks of sacrifice is worth it for a lifetime of health....Good Luck to you!!!!
  16. I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet and so far, I'm doing OK. I drink the Bari-Essentials shakes as prescribed and 1 cup of broth at dinner. I fill in the rest with either regular water or Propel fitness water. I think a big thing is to keep occupied during this time so you don't dwell on the diet. And when it starts to get to you, and it will....just try to keep reminding yourself that it's only temporary and a couple of weeks of sacrifice is definitely worth a lifetime of happiness......good luck!
  17. It'll be here sooner than you think!!
  18. Hi, I started my pre-op diet on Monday and so far, so good...my surgery is set for 6/25 and I am definitely getting more anxious and excited each day!

What are you on the Coumadin for? I've been on Aggrenox since I had a stroke 7 years ago. It's like Plavix with 25mg of aspirin added to it. I had to get, along with the cardiac clearance, a letter from my cardiologist saying I can come off the drug safely for 2 weeks prior to surgery and 1 week following the procedure. I think that's my biggest fear, along with general anesthesia. I'm certain we can motivate each other. I'm waiting until after the Super Bowl to begin exercising, I figure one final day of eating what I want before I get serious. At least for me, I really don't have an unhealthy diet to begin with, I just tend to eat too much and I kinda binge @ night....really hoping that stops! Stay in touch~

It's almost kind of a funny story, and I'm sure that most who have been sleeved (I don't yet have a surgery date) will sooner or later find themselves in a similar situation. It sounds like you handled it great, and also that you are and will continue to be a success story! My attitude, just because I know how I would react, would've been something like "screw them, I'm never letting anybody mess with my head over food after what I went through".....good job!
