I am 5 months in and maybe 10 people know. Not that I am fighting to keep it a secret, but I just can't be bothered to explain the whole thing and have them watch me.

I knew that the chicken was dry the first night I cooked it, added a bit of BBQ Sauce and it was okay. Leftovers the next day same thing....chicken was too dry. The thin crust pizza, might have been a case of not paying attention to small bites and chewing, since it was in the lunch room with other staff and we were chatting away. I don't know what has changed but I do know that I need to be focused and aware whenever I am chewing, so socializing and eating I need to be extra careful. The chicken, I should have thrown it out the first night, but I didn't. Both episodes were totally my fault.
I did not vomit..........sliming is just that, saliva that is thick and slimey and you produce lost of it, need to spit it out.
I am not sure when you got banded, but unless I am eating I have nothing that reminds me I have the band (except for the burping and farting but that is a whole other story), I can do anything, move in any direction and although am not a stomach sleeper, slept on my side the very first night after surgery.
Hang in there and it will get better..........

I was banded in Sept and have had 4 fills and just had my first stuck on Sunday, second one on Tuesday. Not pretty and not fun. For me I can totally feel it and then I get a sick feeling in my stomach like I will vomit. Lots of spitting up slime and I don't recall burping but Sunday it came up - with the slime, not a heaving vomit (sorry for the description) and Monday it went down. Not sure what has changed with my band as I am crawling and fairly discouraged with the progress or lack of in the last 7 months. Pure disappontment is the truth, I am exercising, following my eating guidelines, but am hungry and frustrated. Another fill tomorrow and I am sure I am close. Now have to watch the chicken and bread products a bit more diligently.

Stool softener asap, my nurse call me the day after surgery and she stressed taking stool softeners as that could lead to a whole world of problems...........very common with painkillers and surgeries. You should probably also be getting off those pain meds....10 days post op!

One day at a time, you will do just fine. I would suggest getting a stool softener in you as well. My clinic was very concerned about constipation...........so take care of that.

My dr used the term pop a stitch. I wouldn't be worried if I streached my pouch as I would be concerned if everything is where it is suppose to be (ie the band). Not sure what to say or what advise to give.

    wildrose1966 got a reaction from 2muchfun in 6 days postop...only 2lbs down??!
The first 6 weeks after surgery are for healing not losing. Your body has been tramatized and you are pretty much starving it, so it is not going to let go of anything and will hold onto everything you put in it. You probably are not eating enough and although my clinic wasn't concerned with the Protein intake while I was in liquids, it is something you have to keep in mind to try to get some of. Try putting cottage cheese in your Soups and blending it in the blender, if you had a Protein Drink pre op, go back to that, get some greek yoguart in you, that is high in protein. It will happen.........be patient and take care of yourself.

I imagine your wife will be equally happy with the tummy that rumbles really loud, especially once you get into bed at night. The burping that would make any 6yr old proud - that subsides but never goes away, and the constant need for stool softeners/laxitives...........good luck, you are doing well. Oh and the minor Hair loss, but that should stop once you get your Proteins up and in.
