  1. Hi all I have not yet been sleeved but hope to be before the summer is out. I am worried about my family during my initial recovery after surgery. It will be right around the time school begins or shortly after. I don't have relatives in town with me and my husband can't be off. We have four children 3 boys and 1 girl. 10, 8, 6, 3. I wanted to hear from post oppers in similar situations. Were you guys able to be alone shortly or immediately after surgery, were you able to care for your children, drive and take them to school? Please offer some insite.
  2. Thank heavens I've had mine removed before having vsg, that is some unbearable pain.
  3. So happy for you and wishing you a speedy recovery, can't wait to be on that bench with ya! Bless you.
  4. Memphis here, cant find anyone close usually. I guess the statistics were true TN is the fattest state. We've got to spread the good news.
  5. You look so cute and your eyes just POP! Good idea if that happens to me I will do the same.
  6. Correction-----not to take it personally
  7. Ultimately weight loss depends on the individual. Each surgery is a tool and my goals are up to me and how much hard work I put into it. I do not dare go into this expecting my sleeve to be my "cure all". My sister had the sleeve done May 2011 and has lost 120 lbs and still losing, trying to stop actually. I myself would love to lose 170lbs and realize I have everything to do with that. I think regardless which surgery you decide upon you will be pleased with the results of either. As far as taking peoples opinions as negativity, I encourage bloggers to accept and embrace each persons opinion as just that and take it personally realizing their opinion is there reality and that is why this forum is so popular in the WLS community. Congrats to all sleeved, good luck to all who will be sleeved and best wishes to us all in our journey! :-)
  8. Thanks Emily I am doing my mthly weigh ins with my pcp not my surgery. I too have to pay 500 to my surgeon the week before surgery. I hope I don't have to do any other testing. Actually I'm doing my surgical clearance appt with my pcp tmw. Then, 4 appts in July and I should be able to submit. Surgeons office said typically takes two weeks for approval.
  9. Hoping for mid August, I have 2nd weigh in Thursday, meet with surgeon 7/5, have psych eval, and nut assessment on 7/18, and last weigh in on 7/24.
  10. That's great Terri, can't wait to be on the losers bench with you!
  11. Cool I was thinking about doing it about a month prior, I really wanna be under 300lbs by surgery which hopefully will be August sometime.
  12. Hey guys, in Memphis too hoping to be sleeved in August sometime, Lay Lay would love to be buddies, I'm going to Dr. Woodman as well and would love some experienced insight from you. Wishing you a speedy recovery
  13. Hi Eager I am in Memphis glad to see someone else.....how did things go?
  14. I'm in Memphis, two more weigh ins, psych eval, nut. assessment, and surgeons visit.....looking for mid-august. Best of luck to you all
  15. Did anyone begin pre-op, or liquid diet a month or more before surgery?
  16. Right on with all of that.......but can't wait to cross my legs, touch my toes and ride my husband care free (i know TMI) but being real. Want him to pick me up during ***! He's really in shape and I can't wait to be able to run miles at a time with him.
  17. I am going to my second weigh in with my pcp, then having my surgeons consult at the end of the month. I feel kind of rushed now because I thought I had to do six months but Cigna recently changed to 3 months, yay! Next month I will close out with last weigh in, psych eval, and nutrition assessment. What questions did you ask, forget to ask, or wish you had discussed with your surgeon?

  19. Hopefully I will be getting sleeved mid August as well, thanks to Cignas insurance changes, this will be a great birthday present for me. 2nd weigh in is Thursday!
  20. Yes I called Cigna today to confirm that it is now 3 months as opposed to six, I was overjoyed! Go for second monthly weigh in Thursday, now I have to hurry and make my appointments for my psych eval. and nutrition assessment. Did you guys have to fulfill any other requirements aside from the ones listed by cigna? Also, how did you guys who are post op deal with your copays, deductibles, and out of pocket before surgery?
  21. LouiseC you are so right! I've never really thought about it this way AND this attitude/behavior pertains to other successes one has in their lives. Truly eye opening moment for me.

  23. Wow, I can't believe so many have dealt with such "friends" its a shame. My sister had the surgery last year and has lost about 120lbs since then and I couldn't imagine behaving that way towards her. Her success is making it difficult for me to make it through my six months lol. I just wanna be sleeved already.
  24. Thanks for your responses guys. @Pdx you are totally right but hey you know just generalizing..... I am currently working out and doing light weight lifting to tone muscles up before surgery.
