Things You Can Never Have Again With Sleeve :(

Friend has CML- leukemia- can she get sleeve?
Thanks Kathy for the encouragement and kudos! I love the sleeve! Well I'll let you all know what I find out when she goes though the hoops. Hopefully she's approved. The only thing I could think of is PAIN. She wouldn't be able to take the ulcer procucing ones like Ibuprofen but she can't take tylenol because of the liver issue of leukemia...so that's a problem. But I'm sure for rare extreme pain she'd have those or other short term choices.

This is a chronic form that you could live with forever and she really wants to get the sleeve. Her oncologist said it's fine, she's scheduled for the info. session. Any thoughts or experience out there? Thanks for any advice/info.

Things You Can Never Have Again With Sleeve :(
It's a miracle really, how you don't even WANT some of the things that you used to. If I want a bite of a "goodie." rarely- I have it. If it's a goodie that I used to gorge on- I don't even want it...I'm afraid to let those little things sneak in. Do I like the idea of a big cheesesteak on a huge roll with cheese fries- yes. But I'm free from really obsessing about it. The roll could be scooped out and I could have a fry or two- if I wanted. Someday. But I choose to maximize this ultimate losing time in the first year by making better choices. Honestly we can't eat all that much and have this amazing satisfaction from the little amount. Funny story. I was in Trader Joe's and they had a medicine sample cup of a fancy shrimp dish. Haha-Dinner! It's pretty awesome to fill up on hardly anything but also get the delicious taste and not feel deprived. I'm happy. I was talking to this person who happens to be a WW coach yesterday and he asked how I handle the cravings with such little food and I'm like..you don't have them because you're free from that constant hunger/want for food-- the ghrelin- appetite/hunger hormone, is gone. So strange how life is now...

Surgery Regrets
I feel like you have to find what works for you. I've lost almost 40 at 2 months and have not exercised at all. I try to get in a lot of protein but sometimes I eat too little. Then I'll eat more carbs than protein on a certain and I'll drop a lot within a couple days of that. It varies. Try mixing things up-- more water, less protein, more calories, less calories. I think we all have something that works better for us. Your body can't hang onto the weight with a huge reduction in calories forever...it's impossible. Good luck!

Hi Guys! Im New Here And I Have A Couple Of Questions About The Vertical Sleeve :)
At the top of this page on the right of te search bar is a gear- that's what I hit first. Then you put in almost any question and youll find tons of answers. I can't relate specifically to your situation but I'm very happy I did this. For example you can put in "newly pregnant how long to wait for sleeve" and see what comes up. Also go to all the various sections about groups- such as "people in their 20's," "people from Texas" (where it says about what part of the country you're in) etc. Good luck!

Boca Burgers And Meal Starters
I just bought that- looks like cooked "broken up" ground beef. I haven't decided how to use it yet. Maybe I'll put it with sauce, ricotta and melt cheese over it (or just parm.. The box shows it stuffed in a cooked pepper- but I'm not doing that. I actually had a mini Traders Joe's burger with cheese on half a toasted whole wheat bun...it was awesome.

I Forgot - I Think .. Now What Do I Do?
Thanks Izuri that's helpful to know. My whole life I always got sick from multi's. I always thought my body produced too much of something- and trust me I experiment w/food, without it, times of day, etc.. I think it might be "E"-- I would get a headache and VERY nauseous. My PA approved the CVS children's chewable after reading all the ingredients and it seems to be the only one I can take. (plus I take Calcium, B12 and D)

Is It Ok To Eat Doritos After Being Sleeved ?
How about a double cheeseburger with cheese fries and a coke? (Followed by a 5 scoop sundae at Friendlys).

Need A Term For Finally Having Less Than 100 To Lose
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AWell, it was a dark rainy day, and we thought of things to say, Skinny minny, shrinky dinky and me couldn't find a term to define what will be. We thought and we thought all that warm rainy day of how to define being 100 pounds away. So some of us burned the midnight oil hoping our labor day plans would not spoil But suddenly Shrinkydinkme came up with a word that made us scream OH MY IT'S BEEN HEARD! And thus on that day Underhunder was born and shorn and worn with fun and glee And all of us cheered for underhunder, you and me!

Need A Term For Finally Having Less Than 100 To Lose
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AAnd so, underhunder was born. It should be used like this though... "I have reached underhunder" vs. I am in underhunder (for which onederland is reserved). It sounds like a disease... "My underhunder is acting up today!" "Call the Dr. --Oy my underhunder!!" So we contact Webster's?

Oh Now I Know Why The Book Says Introduce 1 Food At A Time.
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AYeah even though it was pretty hard because it was small and very toasted- could be. However, I'm starting to think onion... maybe I'll try a tums. I take my PPI in the morning but have yet to use any other thing like it during the day.

Oh Now I Know Why The Book Says Introduce 1 Food At A Time.
Duyiiiii! So I've had had an egg with cheese and a slice of whole wheat bread before and all was well. I can eat a lot of variety. Today, I decided to experiment. I made an egg mixed with some diced onion (pre-made- prob. too big chunks), pancetta (Italian meat teeny tiny chunks) and cheddar cheese. All very small amounts added to omelet. AND... a very tiny (1 ounce) toasted mini whole wheat bagel. I have been soooo uncomfortable for a couple hours now. The pain is on the left side..probably my stomach and in the middle between breast bone (which I remember from pre-surgery as a hiatal hernia that the Dr. said wasn't bad). So I know I need to isolate each thing but probably it's the quantity. However I haven't had real onion chunks yet so maybe that's it. I've not had anything like this since surgery. Can anyone relate? What do your "too much food" pains feel like? (GB is out)

Need A Term For Finally Having Less Than 100 To Lose
Marty McSkinnystein replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AWho knows we could be part of starting a new WLS term. Could you imagine the confusion of brand new people saying "What's the difference between underhunder and onederland?"
