Your Progess-Feel Like I Should've Lost More At This Poing
I had the same problem!! I thought I was doing great, but the doc said no. Eat more protein - and more calories in general!! I gained 2lbs =( Getting my second fill tomorrow. I'm so freakin hungry all the time - getting told to eat more was a total head game. Not happy! As for 33lbs since mid-April - GREAT JOB!!! I'm at 32 since 4/17. Slow and steady wins the race!!

- Help! My Co-Works Are Trying To Talk Me Out Of It.
Negativity prior to surgery is extremely difficult and I'm so sorry you're going through that. Everyone here has posted great things, all sound advice. My biggest thing to add is to maybe tell them that you're open about it b/c you're not ashamed, it's not a big secret, but just b/c you're open doesn't mean you want to talk about it all the time. I was pretty secretive up until 2 days before surgery. Now, most people know but respect my wishes about not wanting to talk about it all the time. I'll answer questions, just not deep discussion. One good thing is this will prepare you for post-op. Honestly, it's going to get worse. They will turn into food-nazis - "isn't that too much?" "are you sure you can have that?" "omg! why are you having 2 bites of dessert?!?" And from other overweight people, it will be worse. Praying it gets better. Be blessed.- Muffin Tins
Pintrest is weird. I don't use it much myself. I really only know how to add outside things to it. The way I understand it is once it's the larger image, if you click it again, it should open the link to wherever the image originated from... Hope that helps =)- My Surgery Date Is Aug 16Th!
Congrats!! My biggest advice - stick to your pre and post-op diets. They are sooo important. Once I got past atkins, liquids, and mushies - finding the right portion size and choosing healthier food is somewhat difficult b/c I just wanted to eat something, anything!! Until you reach the green zone, it is mind over matter. You will feel full faster, but still be hungry more often than 3meals-a-day.- Muffin Tins
My mom saw this idea on Pinterest so I did some research - so cool! Muffin tins create great portion sizes for Bandsters!!! You can get your Protein and veggies into a more creative "package". One of my most difficult areas is getting the right foods in the right portions. I can do one or the other, both is complicated with my schedule. Just wanted to share =) Here's my Pinterest page with ideas that I've found... Pasta and/or bread. I'm using them more as a starting point to get ideas and create my own. And yes, I did pin Desserts too.- Thanksgiving-Coma Full And Lots Of Discomfort After Drinking 1/2L Of Water??
I've only been banded a month, w/ one fill 2 weeks ago. I'm still baffled and don't want it to happen again - but I feel perfectly fine. Going to talk to the doc at my appointment on Wednesday...- Clothing Through The Stages Of Weight Loss
One month post-op - dropped 2 pants-sizes!! =) My 3x tops still fit nicely w/o being baggy but I hung all my 2x back in the closet to be ready!!- When Did You Feel 100% Better After Surgery?
Other than being exhausted, I felt great just 2 days post-op. Still had 6 days off of work - but I didn't stop my life and sit on the couch the whole time. Went to the store, cleaned house, etc. I'd say 100% about 2weeks. But I'd found different ways to move around. Like instead of bending over or even regular squatting to get something off the floor, I would plie - no, not a ballerina, just found it the easiest way to get lower without any discomfort.- Hubby Can Only Take 1 Day Off Work!
I agree, the day after. I went home the same day and slept most of it - but when I was awake, I was sure glad not to be alone. Ultimately, your husband will do whichever you choose - but ask him which HE would prefer. My husband was a nervous wreck the whole 30min I was actually in surgery. Our pastor came to the hospital and sat with him so he wasn't alone - but I know it would have been worse if he'd had to be at work while I was under anesthesia...- Thanksgiving-Coma Full And Lots Of Discomfort After Drinking 1/2L Of Water??
Just like the title of the post says... I drank about a half liter of Water, not too fast (or so I thought), careful not to swallow any air, no burps, no PB, nothing slid back up at all. MAJOR fullness and discomfort, more pain than I'm comfortable brushing off. Ended up in the ER. Pain subsided practically at check in. ER doc said Xrays and bloodwork looked fine, check with surgeon in the morning. I'm glad I'm ok. But annoyed that I ended up in the ER!! ALSO... wth? I drink water like that all the time (post-band)! Why now? What was different? How can I prevent it from happening again? I mean, I still feel dehydrated, but I'm afraid to drink anything!!- When Could You Sleep On Your Stomach?
My first problem was that I couldn't lay down at all. The first 2-3 nights, I was propped up on about 8 pillows. The gas pressure and shoulder pain was horrific. Once I could lay down, I took it easy and kept a pillow on one side and hubby on the other. I was probably about a week out when I woke up on my stomach for the first time. I fell asleep that way at about a week and a half.- Slippery Slope?
Gratz on the amazing weightloss! My suggestion, other than what everyone else has said, just listen to your body. If you're feeling weak, add more calories. And they don't have to be not-so-good calories like Chinese. You could have a chicken breast or some fish. Protein is very important. My nutritionist suggested 1200cal diet for me, and I'm doing good if I get 900cal in a day. Good luck!- Scary Accident
Definitely scarey!! But very glad you are ok! I didn't experience any fainting. Some light-headedness and dehydration, but never to the point of fainting. Keep us posted after you see the surgeon!!- So Discouraged!!!
LOVE THIS!!! It's sooo true!! I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and it SUCKS!! The only way to get through it is to stick to the golden rules!- Protein Shakes Enough For A Breakfast Meal?
i try to make sure i have breakfast. if i find at the end of the day i didn't get enough protein, i'll have a protein shake then. it also tricks my food-addicted-brain into thinking it's having a milkshake LOL- Drinking Water And Cheating On The Pre-Op Diet
my preop diet was 2 weeks of atkins - you can have good ol texas fried and bbq etc on that b/c it's all meat anyway!! haha!! i agree with just having a smaller portion of it. you want to lose the required 10lbs more than having a "last meal". myself, i fought very hard against the "last meal" concept. i had a sandwich before going on atkins b/c i love sandwiches and knew that bread is virtually impossible post-band. other than that - just remember the band forces smaller portions and new ways of eating. there are somethings that won't agree with you (steak, bread, Pasta, rice, carbonated drinks), but overall you can have the kinds of foods you want, as long as you know if you don't eat healthier, you won't actually lose any weight. i met one lady that can't have milk - dairy products are fine, but just milk makes her sick after surgery where it didn't before. everyone is a little different. as for drinking, i've heard it's different for everyone. i'm one of those 2 refills before the meal hits the table at restaurants kind of people. very hard habit to break!! i've found that teeny tiny sips while eating, if needed to rinse my mouth, don't bother me. but if i drink heavily or very soon after my meal, it almost feels like the liquid gets stuck. /shrug i'm training myself not to do it. after fills, you'll want to drink a little slower, but i drink at normal speed. i don't recommend chugging, that could hurt. and if you gulp, you could swallow air, and that is uncomfortable. hope that helps!- 1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question
My first fill was a week ago. No numbing. The nurse couldn't find my port, so we went to xray and the xray tech walked her through finding the right spot. She did have to stick me twice. Inside didn't hurt, just the tightness of the skin where she put the needle in as she moved it around to find the exact location of the port.- Extreme Vaginal Pain
So sorry you're going through this =( I had a yeast infection about 5 days post-op but it cleared up with Monistat3. Hope you are feeling better very soon!! And thank you for Matthew 6:25!!! Just what I needed!!- What's So Bad About Cheating On The Post-Op Diet?
You ROCK, Miss Jean!!! People that complain "I can eat whatever I want 2 days post-op" drive me crazy!! Thanks for the, once again, great article!!- Everybodies Pregnant But Me
Same here! We've been talking about it for 2 years but always wanted me to be at a healthier weight. Banded 2.5wks and am looking forward to officially trying next summer. One more year!!! Good luck to all of you. Stay positive!- Said Good Bye To The 300's
congrats!!! my scale at home says 301 - first fill on wednesday, looking forward to what the "official" scales say!- Just Discharged....cant Belch Or Exspell Gas
I haven't burped at all post op. Lots of gass pressure the first week. On day 4 post op, I finally passed gas. I was so excited and the pressure relief felt so great, I texted my husband at work!! Haha!! Hope you feel better!- Sleeping???
I was on my back for a few days then used a pillow to support my belly on my side after that. Now I wake up on my belly with no discomfort unless I try to get up too fast. - 2wks postop- Itching Driving Me Crazy!!!
Itchy!!! That was terrible!! I used some A&D cream and a healing repair cream I got from my esthetician. - Help! My Co-Works Are Trying To Talk Me Out Of It.
