  1. My dietician and Dr. said not to care about calories vs eating plenty of protein. They said 800 to 1000 calories would be good standard. I had to increase 200 calories to my 1000 to lose more weight. I hit starvation mode and didn't lose a lb until I upped my calories. I have lost 27 lbs since March 19, my surgery date.
  2. yes my tummy hurt. And it hurt if things were really cold more that hot. I hurt sometimes if I drink too much water. You soon get over the pain. I noticed I could drink Ice water the other day without pain.
  3. I got them bad after surgery but what helped me was to actually do leg lifts on my back and side. I then did squats if that didn't help. It worked them muscles to fautgue so they would stop twitching. I go to bed a bit earlier now to get in my exercise. Its weird but I hate that twitchy pain.
  4. I was sleeved march 19th and still cannot eat all normal foods yet. I get in my protein mostly with shakes not meat. I can eat steamed vegetables, crackers, rice cake, and some flat breads but no real bread or salad yet. But everyones different I hear. Just wondering when some got back to eating normal foods too.
  5. I had some melted cheese off the top and got so sick and grossed out I don't even crave pizza anymore. fixed me lol Check out the recipes section for pizza alternatives. Like cauliflower crust pizza.
  6. Splenda is what I use. I hate Stevia/truvia, it makes an awful after taste in my mouth. Aspertame like in crystal light and Equal give me killer head aches. Plus Aspertame is linked to weight gain. Never liked saccarine/sweetnlow. I also use a tbsp of honey a day in tea since it has a low glycemic index and doesn't raise my blood sugars. Splenda is closest to regular sugar on a molecular level. So that is how I feel its best for me.
  7. I take a Trader joes chewable multi-Vitamin. vit B-12 sublingual then a crushed Iron supplement in the morning. I take a viactiv calcium chew with Vitamin A and D, Natures way Probiotic chewable and a Vitamin C / Glucosamine fizzy drink for evening. The Nurse told me to always separate the calcium, D and A Vitamins from iron, multi-vitamin and B vitamins for better absorption.

Salad still hurts my tummy and I am on week 7.
  9. My Nut said green smoothies were ok made with tofu. Just only a cup serving though.
  10. I was told nothing else than what is prescribed. I think only clear sugar free liquids were ok.
  11. I was sleeved in March and had 3 bites of steak last night. It was fine. I never could eat meat before like that but it was marinated and very tender. I think that is the only reason I tolerated it because even Hamburger and chicken can hurt and come back up. I like the crockpot idea. What I really miss is the salad that comes with a little steak. I still can't eat salad, Weird.
  12. Just Really happy today because I fit into a seat at the movies. I used to make my kids share space by lifting the arms. Today I just fit nicely. It was also refreshing not to be overly consuming popcorn and then large quantiies of Diet soda that make you have to make a potty run in the middle. Never was so comfortable just watching. What about you?
  13. interesting I was told only Optifast and clear liquids. It was hard but really wanted to heal good after surgery. I did it. Glad I did. Hang in there!
  14. I like that my triple chin became a double LOL! I also have jiggle to my neck I feel self consceince about but love my face more these days. I feel really fat these days. Maybe I just didn't look much before? Maybe your chin is better and you're just getting more body conscientious? I don't know about you but I think that is my problem.
  15. I drink decafe coffee now but I hear ya. I did it cold turkey too and was a mama bear for a week. But it was nice to wake up in the morning and not need anything after that. I still miss my buzz from diet colas in the afternoon.
  16. I make a menu for the week. I make dinners much more healthier now than before. Menus really help you plan what to make. Especially when I had the surgery so it was easy for my family to fix. My kids never miss a meal. LOL I do cook differently now. I make sure they have the 1 right portion instead of 2. Dessert is fruit. I think we all will benifit in my home from my journey.
  17. The surgeon will get the ball rolling for nutrition classes and all. Anyway that is what they did for me. It all depends on your insurance for what is reqired. You could ask them what is required.
  18. reading this made me feel so much better. Never realizd how food addicted I was until after I couldn't eat.
  19. 4/19 but I can only eat soft foods and liquids. I tried eating pasta and failed. But my favorite naughty food is chocolates. Not every day but i have a fun size hershey bar once in awhile. The sugarfree chocolates hurt my tummy. I have lost 12 lbs pre-op and 23 post op. totaling a nice 35 lb weight loss. I feel like a success for today even with my occasional chocolate.
  20. http://southernfood.about.com/od/crockpotchicken/r/bl89c11.htm I make this chow mein and my family loves it. Very healthy too. Don't let the southern food lanel scare you.
  21. thank you for the answers to my question.
  22. I noticed that too and set it in the fridge for 1/2 hour then just shake it up. But that is if you have time. I also add some ice too before you blend. it helps.
  23. thank you. I am new here so I didn't think to search. lol
