Dallas June Sleevers?
Things are moving for me very fast now. I'll be sleeved by Dr. Kim June 7th in Decatur. Anyone else with Dr. Kim that day? I'm trying to figure out transportation since that's not really close to Carrollton. G.

Approved.... A Shout And A Dance!
Thank you so much, my sleeve sista. Not only did I finally get approved today (hearty praise), I got a June 7th date!!!!!!!!!! Last week the coordinator told me June would probably not be an option for me, only a few spots left. I told her it sounded like I needed a miracle so that's what I'd be praying for. We'll be on that lovely liquid diet together very soon. I'll keep praying for you and you do the same for me. Let's keep in touch, ok? G.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
Talked to more nice people at UHC today but very bummed my case is still in review. Since last Thursday. I've even started looking at Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. He's much less expensive than here and you get so much more. But I have NO money so I would have to rob a bank in San Antonio on my way to his clinic. For now I'll continue to wait on UHC.

Waiting Instead Of Living
So I began this morning like a cat on a hot tin roof. When will I get approved? When will I get scheduled? When will I be thin? I was a MESS! Then I remembered a movie I saw years ago. (This is the version I remember) A man had a clicker that would allow him to fast forward through the boring parts of his life to the good parts so he didn't have to wait. At first he clicked through a boring dinner with his in-laws. Of course his wife was ticked because he sat through dinner like a zombie, so he clicked through the fight with her about that. But then he started to make bigger jumps like the months he had to wait for his promotion. Soon he found himself old, his wife gone, and his adult children were strangers to him. He then realized all the "boring" moments in-between the things he was waiting for were the things that really mattered. So now I'm calm, back at my desk working and determined to enjoy each moment between those things above that I mentioned. Sure, the destinations are great, but the journey is what our lives are all about. Take a deep breath and enjoy today. G. P.S. The movie with Click with Adam Sandler.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
Called UHC today. I ended up talking to three people to get to the right information. Thank you Susie, Chris, and Jodi for all being so nice to me. My case is in and assigned a reference number. Now I wait. Why not ask me to do something easy like cut all my fingers off with a butter knife! BREATHE! I have a reminder in my phone that goes off twice a day. It reads, "God finishes everything He starts." So I will wait for His finish in His perfect timing. G.

Hbo Documentary

I Am Beyond Frustrated!
Hopefully some of the Cigna folks will see this and jump in. I've not had any exposure myself or here in the forum to something like this. I hope they turn all this around SOON! G.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
You are correct, there are different requirements in UHC based on the plan and the employer. I checked our specific plan and called them right after the consult. The 5 year history of BMI of 40+ and the use of a Center of Excellence is the only requirment for me to get 100% coverage. The physician has to be in network. If I don't use the COE, I only have 80% coverage for the facility (if it's in network.) But check your plan for your employer to be sure. G.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
@Artsy Did approval come in the mail or phone call? I'm on pins and needles. Maybe I'll sleep next to the mailbox with my cell phone. ARGH!

Newbie
Welcome Brooke! Jump in a get involved. There are so many nice people on here and more helpful information than I could have ever imagined. So if you have questions toss them out there and someone will help. If you're feeling low, feeling scared, someone has probably already been there and can help. Just make sure you use a good title like you did here so people will know what you need. Again, welcome. G.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
My only concern is the BMI over 40 for 5 years. I have a gap in my history where I was under 40 BMI but then rose again. As a result, my surgery coordinator is using my comorbidities of hypertension and sleep apnea. UHC doesn't state it makes allowances for comorbidities but that certainly should matter. In your case, they certainly shouldn't want you to wait until your BMI is over 40 all over again for 5 more years!! I'll be praying for you too! G.

Uhc Approved My Surgery
My information goes to UHC tomorrow. I've tracking this forum and see many people approved in 2-4 days. So I plan to call them Tuesday and make sure they have everything and that it's moving along. I'll keep you posted.

Approved.... A Shout And A Dance!
@zanaiya, that is great news and definitely a praise! Prayer warriors, I need prayers from any and all available. My request should be going to the insurance company this week. My insurance has a great reputation for approving quickly and I'm in need of a June date for my surgery. If you would just lift up this request for approval and scheduling, I would be so grateful. I'll keep you all posted. Thank you! G.

Why We Eat
Tibbie, I so get what you're saying because I've walked that path as well. When I didn't have the control or power I needed in both professional and personal situations, I regained that illusion of control, and sometimes retaliation, with food. I also have eaten for comfort, boredom, to be social, etc. But the issue of control will be the one for me to battle first. Even though I don't have my surgery date, I'm gradually addressing habits to change now. Thanks for sharing that insight and challenge for us all to look deeper. G.

Small Nsv But I Like It!
Congratulations on the results of all your hard work! This was so helpful to me because you used dress sizes, not just pounds. Depending on height, starting weight, build, etc, sometimes the pounds don't really help me see the change. But when you throw in towels and dress sizes...I GET IT!!! And I'm very happy for you

Sooo Frustrated
Low caloric intake could be the problem. But don't forget about those inches. One thing I used to do during a dieting plateau was try on clothes every Friday night. I'd just parade through my closet trying on things that used to fit, never fit, and watch the big difference from week to week. You have done an amazing job! Don't let the scale fool you.

My Texas Sleevers
Vivien, I would love to meet on a Sunday afternoon. I'm still waiting for approval so what ever format you post-sleevers want will work for me. Also, I live in Carrollton, so Arlington is good for me too. G.

Average Wait On Bcbs?
WOW! I don't anything about BCBSTX but I'm impressed with your speed for UHC. My consult with Dr. Kim was 4/20 and the office is still waiting for my records to come in from my primary care physicians. Did you bring your records with you? I hope BCBSTX doesn't take any longer for you than UHC did. G.
