  1. Mina, I think the earlier time is better, no? I know last minute changes are hard. I've got a dear friend willing to drive an hour to take me to my surgery. But I sure would like a time earlier in the day than 2:30. What are your thoughts right now? G.
  2. Ok for those of us craving a cup of coffee. I think most surgeons will allow decaf but what about creamer? My husband bought some Premier RTD Protein Drink from costco and one of the ways they suggest it's used is as a creamer for coffee! I am SO excited! G.
  3. Hello! My surgery is in Decatur, TX (north of Fort Worth). How you doing with the pre op diet and the cigarettes? I've been praying for you to stay strong and have a great recovery. Keep us posted. G,
  4. @kdk Are you going to Decatur? I'm scheduled with Dr Kim for 2:30 but hoping to move up.
  5. June 1 sleevers, how ya doing? June 2 sleevers, get a good night's rest, we're praying for you and cheering you on too! G.
  6. I love this! Just what I was looking for. Thanks so much.
  7. Kathy, you are spot on!!!! And big congrats for your weight loss. You're doing fabulous
  8. Same well wishes from me. I'll be praying for you and looking forward every day to your updates. So get out here and let us know how you're doing and if we can help. YAHOO! G.
  9. We're all right there with you. Your story is what we've all suffered through and why we're so excited about this tool. Although anything can happen, I can't imagine a plan that pays for this surgery but would deny someone with a BMI of 50+. Use this time to enjoy all your other blessings and be a blessing to others. I'm thinking we'll all be able to Celebrate and woop and holler with you very soon! G.
  10. Congratulations!!!! I am very, very happy for you.
  11. No shopping for me YET. I got three dress in the back of my closet and moved them to the front of my closet. They're two sizes too small. I've missed them dearly. Now they're the first thing I see when I sit up in bed in the morning. Here I come, red dress!!! G.
  12. Su-weet on the high-five. I have to be there at 12:30 to end the day (or close to it) with a 2:30 surgery. I'll be in the hallways by the evening. Come poke me in the ribs if you don't see me before bedtime lol Take care and let me know if I can do anything to help you. SO excited! G.
  13. Beautiful blog, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing about more things than I could have thought to ask about. It was very enlightening and exciting! Congratulations.
  14. I have UHC and my BMI was 40+ most of the time for the five year period they requested. Knowing this would be an issue, my doctor's office also sent my sleep study from last fall and evidence of hypertension. I also had breast cancer in 2009. My benefits don't state comorbidities matter but they opened my case on a Thursday. It was still pending the next Wed but was approved when I called back that Fri. That's 7 business days. The letter came a few days later but I had everything scheduled by then. My COE is an hour away because I chose my doctor first and that's the only COE he goes to. There's a COE 7 miles from my house but I wanted Dr. Kim. Hang in there and keep us posted! G.
  15. CONGRATULATIONS Lulu! We have the same surgery date but even more I went through the SAME anxiety you did. Should I call today? Yes. No. Yes. Ok I'll wait. And did I ever shout and dance when I called and got that approval. I'm also an hour drive from my surgery hospital but my next trip will be on the 7th Now about those cigarettes.....I'm much older than you are and both my daughters are in their 20's and smoke. Since I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, I've been urging them to quit. But for you I say, throw away the rest of those cigarettes TODAY! This is about the quality of your recovery meaning the lack of complications. I'll be praying for you every day, sleeve sistah. Stay in touch. G.
  16. Hi Butterfly, I've June 7th in Decatur with Dr. Kim. We'll be there together. Are you early in the day? G.
  17. You can buy supports/braces for your knees and I find BioFreeze to be VERY effective for all aches and pains. But I think Webchickadee has the right idea. You may need to slow down a bit to give your joints some healing time. You've lost considerable weight but still may have a bit more than the joints can handle right now. I wish I lived in Florida. You could pressure wash MY house and then we could sit in the hot tub together! G.
  18. Thank you SO much!!! This is priceless <3.
  19. Me too, Madison! I just keep thinking how badly I wanted this and the good life that lies ahead. No food can compete with that feeling. I've got post-it notes on the wall for my countdown to fight off the boredom. Tomorrow I start the daily walks to keep up my strength. Even doing laundry was rough today! G.
  20. Yahoo! I'm also June 7th and coming to an end of pre-op diet, day 2. I'm sure you are thrilled to get your date. We're on our way!!!
  21. Tina, I'm so glad I found you. I love your 3Rs and I can hardly wait for your 6-month update. I'm getting Evie June 7th so I'll be looking for your words of wisdom. G.
  22. That is wonderful news. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
  23. I remember one of my many Weight Watchers periods where I lost big the first week and continued to lose. Others lost a respectable amount of weight as well but ONE co-worker lost not a single ounce for almost six weeks. They reviewed her food diary, measured her, interviewed her and had NO idea what was going on. On the fifth or six week she finally lost, and lost BIG. She continue to do well and lose at a "normal" rate after that. No one could explain what happened, but she hung in there and her body finally kicked in and joined the party. Don't give up!!! G.
  24. Yay! We'll be here waiting for you.
  25. Tibbie! Are you out there? It's day after tomorrow for you, right? I'm so excited for you and you'll be in my prayers. Please let us know how you're doing! G.
