  1. Try colace or milk of magnesia. Constipation is totally normal.
  2. hi! i tried to go thru insurance, but was denied and ended up doing self pay. i was out of work 4 days. i stayed 1 night in the hospital where my pain was managed, so I was happy with that. i had some gas pain when i got home, but all was managed by taking my pain meds, walking, and gas x. by day 5 post op, i was feeling pretty good and by day 9-10, i was feeling pretty much back to normal. the 1 thing (maybe TMI??) is that I got a yeast infection after getting home from the hospital due to all the antibiotics they pumped into me for surgery and after....however it wasnt a big deal, as for food, it seems every doctor is different and you will get a plan from your doc and/or nutritionist. good luck!
  3. I told my 2 bosses at work that I was having my gallbladder removed. only my dad and 1 friend know the truth. most friends dont even know I was out of work for a few days.
  4. Gas x strips or chewable pills, heating pad, walking. Walking helped the most for me.
  5. Thanks everyone for the support and tips!
  6. Well I leave tomorrow to go on a week long trip. I'm 2.5 weeks post op and I'm a little nervous about eating out in a group, but hopefully it all goes well. I think I'll still need to track my calories and maybe this will be the first trip in my life where I LOSE weight instead of gain weight?!? i dont think i have anything in my band, so this is where im hoping the plication helps me feel full for longer periods of time and with less food. Wish me luck.
  7. Awesome! Congrats and good luck.
  8. I know we'd all love to lose 30lbs by tomorrow, right? Lol. I know rationally that it is a journey and the weight will come off 1-2 lbs per week. But of course i secretly would love for it to happen quickly! I think everyone has been doing great. Congrats all!
  9. Banded on 5/29 and lost 11 lbs (21 total with pre op)
  10. I didn't go to Mexico, but I agree there is a mental side to this and I have a therapist I see 2x per month.
  11. Congrats on the approval and good luck.
  12. It is totally normal to be nervous. Just think about where you'll be a few months from now when you're losing weight, getting healthy and feeling good!
  13. i'm 2 weeks post op. i'm doing well. saw my doc 1 week post op and i see him again at the end of the month. i keep reminding myself that i'm not going to lose all the weight overnight LOL. are people getting fills or does your doc want the plication to do the work first?
  14. Congrats on quitting smoking!! Good luck
  15. I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back on Monday. I have a desk job. My doc told me no lifting or anything for a month.
  16. Surgery on a Tuesday and back to work on Monday. I have a desk job.
  17. There is a whole thread on here called "Lap band with gastric plication" and there's a lot of great info there. Check it out! It's still a new procedure. My doc did it on me and I'm part of a research study. The unknown is how things will be long term, but I felt good about my decision. I've had 1 post op appointment and everything looks good. I go back again in a few weeks. I'm hopeful to lose more weight in the beginning with the plication. Fingers crossed!
  18. It's been 2 weeks for me and I'm feeling good. I've lost some weight already and I started back at the gym again. I can eat a little more now than i could the first week (of course), but I still get full fairly quickly. So far, so good! How's everyone else?
  19. Welcome Alex. I had banded plication on May 29. Im really happy so far. Let me know if you have any questions!
