  1. I'm on the 12th and for some strange reason it hasn't sunk in that I'm having lap band. I think it's because I'm afraid it won't work because I have failed so many times in the past. I have heard from people that it just didn't work for them and yes, I know on this site there are hundreds of success stories. Why I feel like a failure beats the crap out of me.
  2. You will do just fine and having some lean turkey isn't the end of the world. Just think 48 hrs is nothing compared to 8 days. Good luck and keep us posted on how surgery went for you.
  3. Today is my pre-op and I am on sugar-free OVERLOAD! I cannot stand the taste of so many different artificial sweeteners. I am going to balance it all out. So far so good, I think. I had a half of protein shake and I know I need more protein than that so tonight I'm going to have one before going to bed.
  4. Do you have a *** or PPO? Can you switch PCP? If so, I would do that. First find out if it's covered by your insurance and then get what their qualifications are. Once you have that info take it from there and find a PCP that will refer you. I'm sure everything will work out for you just don't give up.
  5. Congratulations July 3rd Bandsters, Happy BDay!!!!!
  6. Today is your Bday, I hope everything went well for you. When you get a chance please give us an update.
  7. Hi Cherelle! Congrats on your surgery date, I will be banded on the 12th. You can inbox me if you have any questions.
  8. Welcome Robert! Congrats and happy belated BDay!
  9. I have to start on Thursday, July 05. It's really head in my head lol because I'm constantly thinking about what I CANNOT have. I made the mistake of going to costco for the first time in years and I was overwhelmed by all the good food I can't have for a long time. I'm over it but I can't wait until I'm banded. Good luck I pray you have a smooth recovery and a new life full of joy and all things wonderful!
  10. I'm scheduled for July 12th and I am all liquides. I can have protein shakes, sf carnation instant breakfast, low fat cream soups, crystal lite, water, sf popsciles and no jello at all until the doctor advises me that its ok. lol I was really looking forward to the jell-o
  11. The nutritionist just discuss with you the importance of eating healthy. They will go over the wls diet and also will go over how many calories, fats, sodium & carbs you should take in to lose weight now. You will get examples of diet menus and you will ask questions and they will try to answer them. This is what happened at my visit. Yours could be different but I will say that I went thinking this would be boring and why do I have to do this. But, by the time I left out of there I was very impressed with my nutritionist. I learned a lot from her and my visit took about 2 hours because she educated me and I was happy to learn. I laughed at myself when I left out because I thought I knew it all but I really didn't lol.
  12. I START MY PRE-OP ON 7-5 & I'M NERVOUS!!!!!!!!! IT"S ONLY FOR A WEEK I'M SURE I WILL BE FINE.
  13. I have tons! From Richard Simmons to 30 day shred. lol I have so many I don't ever need the gym.
  14. What have you been doing to get the pounds off?
  15. My surgery is in two weeks and I'm not afraid, at all. I am ready to start my life and gain energy. Just say a prayer and you will do fine. Good luck!
  16. I can relate to you. I didn't understand for a very long time what love yourself meant until I gained weight and was depressed all the time. I was always the person I thought I was supposed to be and not who I am. Now I have taken this time to focus on me and I am learning new things about myself all the time. It's very hard, trust me. I have loved someone for years but I'm now realizing they didn't love me for me they loved the opportunity that I was. It hurts but I'm getting through it and it's such a relief to be me & not care about what others think. I'm embarrassed by my finances, I didn't realize how I neglected them. I make pretty decent money but can't a stick of gum on credit. Now I am working on that as well. I matter. I am great. I am beautiful. I am worth every ounce of sweat and tears it takes to become a better me. No more summer school!!!!
  17. July 12th is my B-Day!!!! I'm so happy! I start Pre-op on July 5th. Congratulations to everyone that will be getting banded this month, WE ROCK!!!!
  18. NWgirl is right. It depends on your insurance. I have BCBS IL and it took a day and a half when the papers were submitted and I only needed a psych eval and BMI of 40+ but my surgeon required everything else I had to do. All in all from start to finish with me it took about a month and half to get done and approved. Good luck! Call your insurance and find out their requirements if you haven't done so already. Keep in mind your doctor may require additional qualifications/testing.
  19. Have you had a fill yet? How often do you feel hungry? I happy that you had Dr. Sarker as well, she seems to be very nice and straight forward.
  20. Welcome Ashley! I too have BCBS IL and I am now waiting on my surgery date. I live in the West Suburbs near Forest Park and will be banded at Loyola in Maywood also. There is so much information and support on this site that I think you will benefit from so feel free to reach out to everyone we all are here for the same thing. Good luck!!!! :D
