I have to be there at 6:30 for 8:30! Question for you all, my doc gives me the choice to stay the night or go home ( if everything is ok, no complications) I'm leaning towards staying, any advice or opinion on that first night?

I am! Started today, 5 day liquids... Headed to the beach tomorrow, told my family that I will not go near Breakfast buffet and they have to go eat with out me... But honestly I think it's a better idea than sitting home avoiding the kitchen. Any tips on how to get through these 5 days??? What are you going to do?

I was told the surgeon chooses the best size for you... Higher BMI and men usually get larger band according to my counselor, but ultimately up to surgeon.

Yes.. My pre-op is 4-6 shakes, unlimited sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles and calorie free beverages plus 8 oz broth... Tylenol is helping some... Thank goodness!!!

Oh my... So right there with you!! Started all liquid today, didn't have anything to follow until today. I have the worst headache ever. Just too Tylenol even had some caffeine (allowed 16 oz) I'm a little shaky and slightly grouchy. I know I won't cheat but man this is very hard, I am hoping that it gets easier.
I keep drinking Water, tried going for a walk but it's 90 and my head is killing me, reading was my next thought, again the headache so I'm watching some TV... I usually don't watch much so it feels nice to kick back and relax. Going for mani/pedi tomorrow.. Not sure what else to do.. We can do this! Just try and relax, sleep if you can.

I described the prep stage the same way...kept telling my husband that I felt like I was having a baby with all the cleaning and freezing of family meals.
So My plan was to clear out my closet and send everything to goodwill. So during the pre-op i would try on a few things and decide if it wouldn't fit when I lost 15 pounds then I would toss it. So I neatly folded a small pile (about a foot tall)of clothes up and put them in a box....the week after surgery I went to my closet and would grab one of the keepers..and it was too big!! So i spent the next hour going through my clothes again telling myself if it won't it when I loose 10 more pounds I will put it in the box for goodwill. Now I had a medium size pile about 3 feet tall. Then last week after washing everything I own, I decided to do the same thing.....Now the pile is 5feet tall !!!! Just a little shorter than me and I have nothing left to wear!!!....poor pittiful me...guess I will need to do some shopping.!!! It felt so good!! I had so much fun watching the pile grow over the weeks I purposely let the pile sit in the corner of my bedroom just to keep me motivated.----My husband came home and went to the closet to change and almost everything was gone!! He jokingly told me he thought I had left him!!--That strangely made me happy.--I love him.

That is what I'm doing... This feels so good!!!!! Thank you for encouraging me... I was on the fence, all the advice and pep talks is just what I needed to hear... Y'all are great!!!

Ask him if he does banded plication... He sutures the stomach to the size of the sleeve and puts the band in too... Reduces the risk of the band slipping, you lose in the beginning like a sleeve patient but have the band for long term maintenance and plateaus... Studies are showing the same weight loss with this procedure as with bypass... The best of both worlds!! Good luck!

That is funny. I have not had any real food cravings since I got my approval too. I started my 2 week liquid diet 3 days after my approval. So far so good, I feel like I am in control over my food instead of it controlling me. Good luck to you.

Im going in on 5/29 for banded plication... Anyone else having surgery that day?

Yay!! We can be buddies... My dr's office called yesterday with my approval, starting pre-op diet May 24, having surgery May 29! Please let me know your date when you get it! Congrats again... It's such a great feeling to finally get that approval.

Less than 24 hours to approve it... Wooo Hooo! They are trying to get me in Monday 21 but it looks like Monday 28 will likely be my day... Memorial Day will now have 2 meanings for me!!!!!!
