vsginnj got a reaction from TES in Has anyone lost and then regained ALL of their weight?
Aussie lady I'm so sorry my comments were a general observation not intended to hurt you or anyone else. Please forgive me if I offended you earlier, I was responding to OTR and put my phone down to care for my son when I finished and sent reply you had disclosed how badly you are feeling in the lag time. Admittedly, sometimes I come off harshly but I assure you I'm not that big of a jackass, I hope you are feeling better!

I stopped reading after the first page for a couple of reasons. First, I think that stopping losing isn't actually a goal here, or at least not a serious one (yet?) for you, theRealMel.
I also think nutritionists who recommend s**tty processed foods like low-fat crap and egg beaters are mental and not worth talking to. EAT REAL food, is my number one rule. Real milk, real butter, real cheese, none of this processed low-fat BS. That crap is no good for you. Eating real food IS good for you -- as real and as whole as you can get it. Not crap meat from horrible feed lots, but organic/pastured meats that are full of nutrients your body needs. Organic fruits and veg. Real eggs from chickens who know how to walk around and feel the sunlight. Etc.
The nut who told me to eat a low fat string cheese? That would be the nut I'd never go to again. Focusing on 100 grams of Protein for its own sake, regardless of the source or quality of the Protein, is IMO crazy. That is NO way to be healthy, 'normal', or live a good life. But again, I'm not sure eating heathfully is theRealMel's goal -- rather, the focus is on fear. Fear of regain. Fear of eating well. Fear of letting go of the heady sense of control that the sleeve has provided. That there is eating disorder territory, so just be really careful and mindful. Wish you the best in your journey!!

From a mans point of view he probably meant "more beautiful". There are so many other things he could have said to "start some ish". For my wife and I it has helped us to not ascribe intention to each others statements, actions or inactions,we seek clarity right away it keeps resentments from growing. That is your spouse if he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt who does?

I'm almost 15 months out and had 85% of mine removed. The only way to stop physically craving those bad foods is to detox. Just like with drugs or alcohol. You have to rebalance your blood sugar by eliminating all those foods that either contain sugar or transform into sugar. That is really a big factor in why we lose hunger in the beginning, not just that our stomachs have been severely reduced inside. The mental issue is a different story. We have a doctor who comes to our monthly support group who is the most knowledgable person on the subject of weight I have ever met. He told us how researchers have used functional MRI brain scans to show how some foods, even just the smell or thought of them, lights up the same neuro-pathways as heroin does in an addict. That's astounding! I always knew food was addictive, now fortunately there is scientific proof! Obesity is an addiction and in my opinion, you will have far greater success if you treat it like one. The psychological aspect is so important!

Diagnosing and treating my low T was the most important thing I have done for my health. In a couple of weeks I noticed a dramatic improvement in mental function and mood. The sexual drive was the least of it. I realized I was being treated erroneously for depression for years. Support his treatment. It can be a very big deal.

Ok I'll be the d**k who asks the question you all were thinking! Why would you get 85% of your stomach removed and be eating Chinese take out a month later? Ooh I know I'm a mean man, but sometimes "support is a kick in the rear" really, hate me if you want , but think it over and the honest answer you tell yourself is exactly where change must start for you! For sure one of the biggest changes for lots of us is taking control/ responsibility for what we eat. This takes planning ,shopping and preparing our food ourselves. Please, you are early in recovery make healthy changes now, so you can be successful in the long term! Good luck!!!

Sorry, being moody and snappy sometimes comes with the package . Give him time for the treatment to do its thing. In the meantime, you have us here to lean on.

Hi mike, here's a way of looking at it that helped me, you have a medical condition and you are dying from it; you have just been offered a surgical solution for it. Should you do it ? For sure if it was cancer we would be relieved to hear that news, we can remove the part that is making you sick , surgical risks be damned!

Did you know that you could ask for your Subway "scooped"? What an awesome idea! You still get the feeling of having bread, the taste of the yummy flavor you choose and lose most of the junk.
They split your sandwich, scoop out all the soft bready part and then fill it with your meats, cheese, and veggies. You can add SO MUCH MORE fixins this way. It's like a salad on a really thin roll.
    try it out!
