Trying To Get Back On Track
I feel the same way. . . I have struggled with my weight for the past 20 years and nothing worked. It is hard to make good choices every day. I know we are in "lap band he**" but my will power fads quickly. I have never had an alcohol or drug addict but I realize now how much I am / was addicted to FOOD. I am trying to figure out how to change all of these bad habits I have so this band and I can work on this together. Good post~

Encouragement Needed Please Share Progress
Good post . . . misery loves company and I am right there with you. I had lap band surgery on April 9th; first fill on June 6th and NO restriction yet. People will reply that we are in "bandster he**" until we "get restriction" I am just hoping I get out of HE** on my next fill on July 25th. I have very little willpower and it is fading fast. If I could keep perfect food journals, exercise and eat perfect and I would not need the band. I know it is a tool and cannot do all of the work but this is worse than I had expected. I breezed through pre=op diet and surgery. I should be happy with a 30 pound weight loss but I am mostly just FRUSTRATED>

Emotional Regret
Yes, I love this website but it helps me the most to hear about how to deal with challenges . . . I am apparently currently in "bandster he**". I asked myself the other day did I get a $40,000.00 surgery REALLY . . . what if it NEVER works ???

Frusterated
I am RIGHT there with ya' ! I had lap band surgery on April 9th and my first fill on June 6th. I have NO restriction and still have hunger. It is easy to get frustrated and I am thinking about changing my screen name to "Debbie Downer"

Carbonated Drinks
my surgeon said it was a BIG no-no . . . so I have not been brave enought to test why

If You Had To Choose Just One...
This is a great post; I have often wondered the same thing. I am not at the point of considering surgery but I think my first pick is going to be a tummy tuck; also flabby after losing some weight and c-section. My second is going to be either arms (brachio) or breast lift.

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?
I had lap band surgery on Aprilo 9th; my first fill was on June 6th . . . also 3 cc's; my next fill is scheduled for July 25th. I have lost 35 pounds. Sounds like we are on the same schedule

Lap-Band Hell I Guess?
Thank you for the post. I have only had one fill and do not think I really have any restrictions. The willpower is fading fast. My second fill is scheduled for July 25th.

Lettuce?
I had lap band surgery this year on April 9th and my first fill on June 6th (don't think I am in the "green" zone yet). But, I made a phone call to my Nutrionist today to ask her if I could have a tossed salad and she said "YES". I did not have any issues. ~ Good Luck ~

Some Days...
I feel exactly the same way, especially during PMS; I had lap band surgery this year on April 9th and my first fill on June 6th. I tell myself all of the time that I have "only lost 31 pounds" but I could NOT have done that without lap band surgery. My second fill is on July 25th and I am counting down until the days . . . . ~ GOOD LUCK ~

Pizza
YES, thin crust (VERY crispy pizza) would be okay. I do not have any issues with the whole wheat pita bread. Good luck~

Lap Bandster H-E-*-*
I had lap band surgery on April 9th. I have lost 31 pounds. I feel like I have been a good trooper for the past 9 weeks. I had my first fill on June 6th and my second fill is scheduled for July 25th. However, my will power is fading and I am hungry. . . trying not to get frustrated. Just curious how long did lap bandster h-e-*-* last for you?

Bariatric Advantage
You can order it online. I could NOT make myself drink their protein powder drinks. I tried the chocolate one and the orange cream. I use their vitamins. Good Luck

Crystal Light - Is There An Alternative?
I like the "FUZE" drinks; they make one that is very low calorie and low sugar. The crystal light gives me terrible heart burn. My second favorite is the sugar free kool-aid (grape). Good Luck~

Itching From Steri Strips?
my itch was wicked bad . . . my doctor told me to put liquid benadryl on it and it worked like a charm ~ good luck~

Fills
I am the BIGGEST wimp in the land when it comes to ANY needle; honestly, the fill took 2 minutes and NO PAIN; I agree with the above posts that an IV or blood work is more painful than a fill. I couldn't sleep 2 days before my June 6th fill and then I felt really silly because it was so easy. Good Luck~

Terrified To Get My First Fill This Week!
I was VERY worried about my first fill too (I had lap band surgery on April 9th) and just had my first fill on June 6th. I was literally with my doctor for five minutes, and NO pain and he did NOT numb my stomach. I have a pathological fear of needles but this was the easiest thing I have experienced thus far in this new journey. Good Luck~!

Sugar Vs. Sugar Alcohol
Just curious if anyone uses products with sugar alcohol. I do watch my sugar intake (very low) but would like to try Russell Stover's sugar free candy line. They are made with Splenda; have 0 sugar; but 23 g of "sugar alcohol"

How Many Fill Till Green Zone
I had lap band surgery on April 9th and my first fill *3 ccs* on June 6th. I have some restriction now. My doctor said it takes at least 2 and usually 3 fills before you are in the zone. However, my doctor is fairly conservatve . . . I had to wait 8 weeks for my first fill and he will not do my second fill until 8 more weeks. He will only put 3 ccs in at a time. I know some doctors start with 4 or 5. It took me many years to gain this weight so I am trying to have some patience on losing . . . down 31 pounds since April 1st (includes pre-surgery diet). Good Luck ~

Pizza
I use the whole wheat pita bread and make my own homemade pizza; I add pizza sauce, lots of cheese and topings. I cook them for about 12 minutes so the crust is very crisp. Good Luck

What Was Your " Ah Ha" Moment?
I think I had a few "Ah Ha" moments that helped me decide . . . health issues (high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol -- didn't want to develop diabetes and face knee and/or hip replacement surgery like other close family members have. My husband and I went to Disney World for an anniversary vacation trip and I could not keep up with him. I looked at the pictures and couldn't believe how much my weight had gotten out of control. I was tipping the scales at 250.

Hernia Repair During Surgery
When I had my lap band surgery on April 9th (this year), I also had hiatal hernia repair. I did experience some shoulder (chest type) pain. I stayed one night in the hospital and it took one full week before I had any relief. Good Luck!

How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?
I have some of the same thoughts posted in this topic. I had lap band surgery on April 9th and my first fill on June 6th. With my pre-surgery diet, I have lost 31 pounds. I have not been very good about exercise. But, I am going to join a gym this week. I think I must also prescribe to the 80 / 20 rule. If I could do all of these things perfect, journal food, weigh food, will power, and exercise, I would be a person who did not need surgery. I do think I am eating healthier and eating less.. . but I am no where near perfect~
