  1. My doctor will have me on a liquid diet 2 wks before surgery. So since I know my date is tentatively June 11, I am starting to substitute one - two meals a day for a liquid. I'm hoping that will make the full liquid diet easier to do. Anyone else having to do the liquid diet before surgery?
  2. Good luck blondegal keeping prayers and healing thoughts your way.
  3. Just now reading this so I apologize for not keeping up Artsy. I will keep you all in my prayers. I am super excited for you and cant wait to hear how it is after you start your new life.
  4. Just got my call today that I am approved by insurance so first appt with surgeon is May 24. So I am pretty sure I will be a June sleever. Hoping to get it done around June 11th. so excited
  5. TY Bo for responding. I got my answer just a few minutes ago from the doctors office I am 100% approved YAHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Got my first appointment on May 24 and if I don't have to have the scope done or choose not to, then we schedule the surgery date! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel Now I know how you all felt when you got the great news.
  6. Ok someone tell me I am not dreaming I got a letter today stating that the service is eligible for coverage so does that mean I am approved? Oh please tell me its the real thing lol I am so excited Im about to piss my pants hahahaha
  7. Mina my heart goes out to you with having to deal with migraines. My father had those as long as I can remember until about 5 years ago. He found a doctor that put him on blood pressure meds even though he didn't have it, and that seriously stopped his migraines. He has one every so often, maybe 1 every 3 months if that much. My sister has them also and I hate it for her. I pray some how you don't have those any more.
  8. Ty everyone I am trying to control my emotions just in case it doesn't go the way I hope for but oh my gosh it's not so easy lol. For some odd reason I keep hearing and getting the thought that I will hear something on May 8. I don't claim to be psychic( that's a scary thought) but every so often I have "moments" of knowing or feeling about something and it proves to be true. My daughter can vouch for me on that cuz during her teen years she swore I was psychic on the things she was doing wrong lol. That was part of that and mothers intuition. So with all that said I sure do hope this time it proves to be right again and I get that call May 8.
  9. Well I assume this might be possibly good news so heres hoping: I called my insurance just a minute ago and found out they received my request and its pending. From what the rep told me, they have 5 days to make a decision and she sounded some what positive so if the good Lord be willing I will get the approval notice soon. I know theres still a chance I could get denied but I am remaining positive and thinking positive that I will get an approval. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed for me and say a prayer. Oh and the rep did say that on the request the surgery date was for June 11, 2012. Don't know if thats just a date the doc had to put for the request but wont be the actual surgery date, or if thats the intended date but either way I am stoked now Stay tuned........ more to follow lol
  10. Wow!!! Congrats to all of you that got approved! So happy for you . I wasn't able to call or check on anything today cuz I was babysitting my 16 mo. Old granddaughter but in the morning that's a different story. Hopefully I will get some good news like the rest of you did.i am just so happy for y'all. God answers prayers
  11. Bo maybe you and I will get our notices a day or so apart lol. MIne was submitted Friday so I am counting down the days till I should call. But to me one day is already too long
  12. Mina that is fantastic!!! So happy for you! Keep posting your progress and all the steps you have to do. I can't wait to be at that point. Will continue the prayers ( faith and prayers are working). :-)
  13. Irishmama I will add you to my prayer list in hopes that all goes right for you also. I keep telling myself that good things come to those who wait. So I am doing my best to let go and let God take control. Stay positive and imagine how your new life will be after the surgery. I get giddy at just the thought lol.
  14. I have fibromyalgia so I deal with pain every day of my life, some days worse than others. Has any other fibro people had the sleeve done and if so, was your pain threshhold magnifyed or increased? I'm not worried about the pain, can handle it no matter what. But I am curious to find out if others have had any increase in symptoms, flare ups, mood swings, etc. that is associated with fibro after your surgery.
  15. Congrats Artsy!!! Keep us posted on your progress. Hope mine goes as quickly as yours did. Keeping the prayers going for us all because I know God didn't intend for us to be this way
  16. MinaT I have United Health Care and have heard different stories from different areas on the requirements. I hope and pray I am one of the lucky ones . I understand about your lupus. About 12 years ago I was told that I had it, took a lot of supplements, meds and such, to now my doctor says it must be in remission. I still treat my body as if I have it or could have it so I won't have the same symptoms. I too have other health problems and hope to alleviate some of them with this surgery as well as become healthier with a new lifestyle change. I have 3 grandbabies and another due in May that I have to be around for so they know who Nana is
  17. I finally got the call today that my information has finally been submitted!!!! I pray the insurance goes ahead and approves it without a 6 month deal or anything else. Keeping fingers crossed, thanking God and praying that the insurance lets it go through. Whewwwww now I'm tired lol
  18. Still have not heard anything I am so frustrated and unnerved by how this is going. The insurance coordinator is off on Fridays but I am still calling in the morning and asking questions they probably wont like. I dont care if they do or not. If the person in charge of getting the insurance all the paperwork and she cant return my calls, well then someone else will have to step in and do her job or so I think.
  19. Another one in the same boat here. Trying my best not to stress over it, staying busy helps a lot. But still in the back of my mind I am hoping postively. I do have obstructive sleep apnea, was diagnosed 2 years ago. I also have diabetes so with those two I am hoping tomorrow I get that phone call I have been patiently waiting to hear. Good luck to everyone else, hopefully within this next week we all will get great news
  20. I too am waiting to hear if UHC approves my request. Insurance coordinator said takes about 2 wks and it's been one week now. My BMI is 42, I have obstructive sleep apnea , diabetes, dysfunctional thyroid and although my PCP NEVER recorded my diet attempts, she did write a letter( hoping that's just as good). My sleep doctor also added that for the sake of my health and life I seriously needed the surgery. It's driving me nuts waiting but I keep telling myself "no news is good news" . Lord I hope I hear something positive soon from my surgeon.
  21. Dr. King in Oxford will be my doctor, if you are asking me.
  22. Ok here goes. This is my first post and after reading all the answers above some of my questions have been answered. I have been to the seminar that the surgeon requires, and the insurance advocate (guess thats what she is called) has told me that UHC does approve the gastric sleeve surgery however, I have to have documentation of 2 years doctor visits with weight loss being the main reason for visits. I have been dealing with my weight for over 5 years, and my PCP doesnt document each diet I have tried. She did write a letter saying she knew I was on the diets and how much I have lost but nothing in my records. My sleep apnea doctor did write a letter stating how aggressively I have tried to lose weight in 2 years, only achieving 21 pounds and that the surgery would benefit my health tremendously since I have obstructive sleep apnea and other health problems. So after stating all this, does anyone know if United Health Care will accept what my doctors have sent or will I have to do something else for them to say go ahead. Its like I am approved but Im not approved kinda.
