  1. Oh! I can relate. I couldn't sleep in my bed until night 3 of being home. I slept on my back and put a big square couch cushion under my knees to support my lower back but my hubby had to help me up from such a flat position. Then a genius moment came. Had a new, overstuffed dog bed that my dog refused to use and I used that plus well positioned other pillows to create a reclined and comfy position in bed. I finally could lay flat after about a week of that.
  2. I have one of the most restrictive and slowest phase growing plans of, I think, about anyone I've come across on this forum.... I'm at 8 weeks post (OK on TUESDAY I will be), but FINALLY get to add in fish, eggs, cheese and Beans. Oh Good Lord it's been a haul. I had salmon (all of about 1/4 cup) and it was wonderful!! Also had some chili. YUMMM! I know a lot of others have been eating this stuff since like week 2, but I vowed to follow my surgeon's orders and I made it! To be honest I think it helped to break a lot of my head hunger in the past 2 months....Hmmmm...maybe that's the method to their madness. Anyway, just wanted to share that I made it!!
  3. So glad it went well for you!! With that attitude you'll do great!!
  4. Me too. EAS makes tasty ones, too, but they only have 17-20 grams of protein and I'm lovin' the 30grams in one drink!! Greek yogurt has got a great amount of protein as well as cottage cheese! I was one of the lucky ones. I was getting 50 gms in the day I got home from surgery and easily hit 75 and up daily. It's worth it to me to ATTEMPT to keep my hair (also take Zinc, Biotin and my multi vit). You'll get there - don't give up!!
  5. So very great, Jailynn!! Joni, I am njerry on MFP! I'm not as seasoned and far out as Jailynn, Lissa and Dorrie but we can ride this wave together!
  6. I stumbled upon this thread today and fell in love with these awesome stories. I'd have to go back through all 6pages to start quoting my favorites and the ones that made me laugh out loud! I think, though I take the cake for most unoriginal. I've never had a nickname and I figured it would just be easier for people to call me Nancy. Thanks! I've really enjoyed this!!
  7. I get my extra vitamin D through my Viactiv Calcium chew.
  8. I'm hoping to get there too, LIssa! School for me consumes about 15-16 hours per day and there is no gym between me and work. I bike ride on the weekends but it's not the same as a whole body workout like that. My gym membership starts on June 1 - CAN'T WAIT!!
  9. My clinic gave me a template and my doc said she writes so many of them she didn't need it and wrote it for me while I sat in the room, then left with it. Bariatric clinic girls said that's practically unheard of for a doc to make it happen so quickly - lol!
  10. You've got my attention - gonna have to look at this!
  11. Fun Post! Good for you!! And BENJAMMIN - very cool that you posted too! Always fun to have a brave male's perspective!
  12. What a great story!! How fun for you to be the "seasoned" member!
  13. Whoa! You look so young and happy!! Congrats to you!!
  14. Aw. I'm sorry you feel like that! I think it's easier said than done that "we are not supposed to compare progress to others." We all do to an extent! But really, now. 77 pounds gone is nothing to sneeze at and you've got to feel like a million buck, right? I'm sure you've inspired your share of people too! (you've inspired ME!) I can't wait to shed 77 pounds! Hang on to the positives whenever you can!
  15. OH! It did hurt like a son-of-a-gun!!!
  16. It didn't get REALLY hard until about last weekend!! In some ways it's helped me battle my head hunger too, so maybe there's a method to their madness!! Hang in there!
  17. Amy, that's what I would think of if I saw that picture too! Too funny!!
  18. My surgeon and plan seem to be one of the most restrictive I've come across on the forum. I'm a little over 7 weeks out and I'll be able to add eggs, cheese, fish and beans NEXT week. I've been tempted to cheat since a lot of people here talk about their plans including these soft foods at like 2 weeks. But, I'm a chicken to cheat. I chose my surgeon and pledged to do whatever they said. Good luck.
  19. Thanks - I'm getting there! In a stall right now (which is no big deal to me). The rest will come off eventually You'll do great!!
  20. I only felt yucky for about 30-ish hours post op. Mostly because I couldn't get up and walk due to nausea!! But as soon as I could I walked every hour or two around the clock. Middle of the night walks were quite peaceful. Like it has already been mentioned- walking will help a lot and you'll feel better everyday!
  21. Just the cold for me! OH....maybe that's just the loss of insulation - LOL. Sometimes I get a little sensitive to people that irritate me... Sorry...Long day at work and I'm a little punchy. I can honestly say I don't seem to have any types of irritation like you are describing.
  22. I would think you could take the Bandaids off. I went home with just the steristrips and they came off within about 2 days or so. :-D
