    For me it was reaching a small goal of 240 lbs. 40 lbs lighter than when I started this journey, and I haven't weighed this since before I got pregnant with my oldest daughter, almost 6 years ago.

    I waste more food now in 2 months than my whole lifetime pre op. poor kids in somalia. Fish fish crabs and more fish and lastly cheese. I can careless about anything else and I crave zilch and hunger is zilch.
    Its still astounding as to how the weight flies off. 63lbs here at 2 months 1 day

    This is what I do for easter and halloween and any holiday where candy is involved. I let my daughter pick 5 pieces of candy and she can have one piece a day or every other day and when it's gone then it's gone. She really doesn't need to have all that candy anyway.. then we bag up the rest and leave it out for the candy fairy before bed and when she wakes up she has a new cool toy from the candy fairy. I throw out th candy.. none of us need it and it's full of crap.
    I don't let her eat a lot of sweets anyway. From the time she could eat I have tried very hard to give her a balanced diet. I didn't want her to end up like me as a junk food junkie. And now she is one of the healthiest kids I know. She eats raw baby spinach as a snack and she loves green vegtables. I'm not too strict because I don't want her to have issues with food. She doesn't really know any different.
    I know this isn't the normal thing most parents do but it's what works for us. I'm pretty sure she doesn't feel deprived or that it's not fair.

    Maybe have the kids keep it out of sight, like their closets or drawers. Most of the time, I'll forget about sweets when they're not in my face.

    How are you sleeping on half an Ambien? If well, maybe you can take it down to a quarter?
    You may not have been sleeping well because of your weight, so I wouldn't be surprised if you find that you can sleep okay without the "help" of sleep aids when you've lost some weight. Something to keep in mind as the weight comes off.

    So I'm just 2 weeks post op. I have a 13 year old son, he knows that I had surgery, but I was very general and did not tell him that it was WLS. I told him I had abdominal surgery. Well yesterday we were talking and he told me wow mom your really looking skinnier. I've lost 20 pounds and am excited. I feel like a 13 year old boy has even noticed my weight loss. That was the thing that has real. Loving my life...

    I'm 11 lbs less!!!!! I'm 7 days post op!! Wanted to share with everyone. I tried on an old work vest and the button didn't want to pop someone's eye out!!! it fitted comfortable!!!! I'm happy!

    I am 2 weeks from op now, I started eating cottage cheese with thai chilli sause to spice up little bit ) and some greek yogurt with splenda since day 3 of op. I am doing ok. May be this will help. Don't count me on that thai chilli sause but just a plain cottage cheese and greek yogurt should be ok. I also had Campbell cream of brocolli and cream of mushroom Soups from day 4 also. Just fyi.I am just two weeks today and I feel like starting some solid food but I will tillI see my Doctor on Friday and then he will decide. Let me tell you my Doctor allowed me to eat cottage cheese amd greek yogurt from day one.

    "Almost a month out" - virtually everyone experiences a stall around week 3. With my band I hit in from about week 2.5 to about week 4.5. It's your body reacting to the "emergency" you've just put it through. Remember your body doesn't have a brain. It can't rationalize, it thinks it is starving, and is going to react in a way so as to preserve itself. That reaction (unfortunately for our frail psyches) usually includes a postponement of weightloss, and quite possibly a slight weight gain.
    Two very important things to remember when you start to despair...
    1. Weight is not the same as fat. You can weigh the same, or more, and be less fat than you were. This will almost guaranteed be true multiple times.
    2. Like investments, you can't look at things in the short term. This is why I hate the scale, it's such a short term de/motivator. You're looking for a sustained average of a couple of pounds a week. So far, you're way above that average. 5 lbs a week cannot be sustained.

    Why is it that when people are excited and say how much weight they lost in a certain amount of time there is always someone that has to burst their balloon by saying, "enjoy it. It doesn't last long." Why do they have to ruin that persons high by pointing out the negative? It irritates me. Just be happy for your fellow sleeves and keep your negtive comments to yourself. Everyone knows that you don't continue to lose mass amounts of weight every week or month so you don't have to rain on their parade.

    I agree piper! Most don't realize how out of place they are when they ask others "how much weight have you lost?" or "what are you doing to lose it?" I've always equated that with asking someone how much money have you saved for retirement? or what is your salary? etc. Even pre-sleeve I've found that offensive, intrusive, and extreemely out of place. It's another example, I think, of how overweight people are seen as fair game in misstreatment and crossing boundaries. As a fat person I experience lots of other types of liberties, including rudeness, from others that I didn't experience when I was thin at that I am no longer experiencing now that I've lost weight. Isn't that something?!
