Hi everyone! This is his wife again - he had a rough night - was up every hour or so with dry heaves! The docs say it was due to the anesthesia- he is resting now- and the plan is to shower and start walking In a couple of hours when he wakes. I want to say that the doctors and really ALL the staff here has been absolutely wonderful! The hospital is immaculate and everyone sooooo attentive! Dr. Aceeves and Dr. Campos are professional yet personable too. I really just cannot say enough about how well my husband has been treated. Thank u all for ur support encouragement and prayers!
    Will update more later! :-)

Sounds very frustrating to say the least! Just breathe and take one step at a time. My surgeon and nutritionist told me in the very beginnning that I would be tested for HP and showed me what it looked like if someone had it. Its important that they know because it could interfere with healing afterward. My surgeon told me that HP is one of the things he will be looking for during my endoscopy tomorrow morning. If I have it, he said it's 2 weeks of antibiotics and 2 weeks after they test again to make sure the antibiotics took care of it. I've noticed a lot of people never had this test prior to being sleeved, perhaps it's a newer criteria? I hope you can get everything taken care of and your test for HP comes back negative, I understand your frustration, June 4th isn't too far away.

So I began this morning like a cat on a hot tin roof. When will I get approved? When will I get scheduled? When will I be thin? I was a MESS! Then I remembered a movie I saw years ago. (This is the version I remember) A man had a clicker that would allow him to fast forward through the boring parts of his life to the good parts so he didn't have to wait. At first he clicked through a boring dinner with his in-laws. Of course his wife was ticked because he sat through dinner like a zombie, so he clicked through the fight with her about that. But then he started to make bigger jumps like the months he had to wait for his promotion. Soon he found himself old, his wife gone, and his adult children were strangers to him. He then realized all the "boring" moments in-between the things he was waiting for were the things that really mattered. So now I'm calm, back at my desk working and determined to enjoy each moment between those things above that I mentioned. Sure, the destinations are great, but the journey is what our lives are all about. Take a deep breath and enjoy today.

P.S. The movie with Click with Adam Sandler.

If y'all didn't know...I'm so happy. You know from my previous posts it was obvious that I wasn't able to go with my 1st choice mexicosurgerysolutions due to $ reasons and last night had finally decided to go with Dr Garcia. Well, this morning my financing CAME THROUGH and I get to go with my 1st choice! I'm so glad the BajaMed group (they have the privilege of practicing in ANY of the hospitals there, unlike so many surgeons) is doing my surgery! I knew they were a little more than Garcia BC they use the newer stapling technology, and wanted them so so much. Right now I'm literally smiling so much my face hurts.

Hi everyone!! I got my sleeve today. Most of the day I have been dealing with a lot of severe nausea. They are trying to find a nice combo of meds to tackle pain and nausea, said I am having spasms. I'm pretty tired and literally have fallen asleep twice just writing this short message. I just couldn't wait to finally post on the post-op forum!! I am on the losers bench! yay!

Post op is scary. Your fear is normal and healthy. keep reading as much as you can. I went in expecting it to be tough and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I did get nauseous and when I did, I let my nurse know. They will give you anti-nausea medication which controls it. I did vomit once during the swallow test on day 2. That stuff was gross but, it only lasted a minute or two.
While you are in the hospital, take the pain meds and the anti-nausea meds. There is no heroes medal for sticking it out without meds! sleep when you can and get as much rest as you can. When you aren't resting, WALK! The more you walk, the better you will feel. Walk as soon as they let you and walk often to help dissipate the gas.
Go into that operating room knowing that you are coming out a new person, one whose old life and weight related baggage will be gone soon. The surgery and the post-op week are just the toll you are paying to cross the bridge. Focus on the outcome, be at peace with your decision, and know that this is just a means to an end and it's temporary. You will feel better in a week or two!
I am 7 weeks out and I feel fantastic. Everyday, I lose a little more and every day I notice the changes. This is the best decision I have ever made for myself and it will be good for you too.
Keep a positive outlook and focus on the future, it will help you get through the days that will be hard.
Good luck! Can't wait to see you on the loser's bench!!!!!!

Ok folks, we all come on these boards to share, help, get support, and generally interact in a world where we know most people totally get where we are coming from right?
So I would like to propose we do a thread that inspires newbies and reminds us all why we are doing this. Can you share your best post-surgical experience? I will start with one of my favourite most memorable ones:
It was the second Summer after my surgery. The previous Summer I had lost most of the weight and I was at a size 14. The second summer I pulled out the big box of Summer clothing and began to unpack it. I remember getting ready to try on the clothing and had that familiar feeling of dread. Every Summer of my life, the clothes were tight and usually had to be replaced. Every Summer of the past I realized I had failed again to do anything but get fatter. So I was in a state of anxiety when I pulled on the first pair of shorts.
They were too big. When I double checked that yes in fact they were baggy, I sat on my bed and wept. I cried with relief, disbelief and joy. Biggest moment ever in my journey.
    How about you?

Hello! My name is Samantha and I'm 23 years old. I'm currenlty living in New Orleans, La and I'm a full time bar tender. I was sleeved just 8 short days ago. So far I'm feeling amazing.
I had my sleeve done by Dr. David Treen at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, La on Monday April 30th at 7:30 am. It was a pretty easy time for me all and all. He said the surgery went perfect and there was nothing to worry about. I went to my mothers house after a one night hospital stay. I took my last dose of pain medication on Tuesday May 1st at 8:30pm. So far I haven't had any real pain to speak of.
I guess that I'm posting this to inruduce myself. When I started my jounrey I joined another forum, that I love, but have found that there is not many sleevers on there. I came here in hopes to find some of the answers me and the other sleevers are looking for.
I hope to be a strong part of this forum and that I get to make lots of new friends a long the way.
    -Sammie
