My biggest wish right now is that all of us that have suffered the hardships of obesity prevent this from happening to future generations.

It's like working out with a heavy suit on - you'll lose weight initially (all water) but as soon as you take it off and drink some Water, it'll all come back on. Waste of money, IMHO...

Please don't compare your weight loss results with someone else's. We are lose differently. People with more weight to lose, tend to lose more in the beginning. Any weight lost is a victory. When I compared my weight lost to others, I became frustrated. My frustration lead me to fall off the wagon. I have learned a few things since being band:
    1. DON'T compare my results with someone else's
    2. Everybody's body is different
    3. I didn't gain weight over night, therefore I can't expect to lose weight overnight
    4. EVERY pound lost is a VICTORY
    5. IT DOES GET BETTER!!!!!
    Be Encouraged!!!!!

Dont get discouraged! I didn't have success from my band until 9cc's. That's why its adjustable. Everyone is different. My fist 3 months I only lost 10 total. My 4th month after my 9cc fill, I lost 13 and I feel encouraged and fantastic! Keep at it, keep getting your fills! It works!!!!

I'm sorry but that PA was 100% wrong. Acid reflux most certainly is possible with the band, and if you are having reflux with the band then something is wrong. Acid reflux with the band is one of the first red flags of being too tight or having a slip.

It is ALL worth it!!!!! I can eat anything I want within moderation as long as I follow the band rules. Once I started losing weight, it was easier to let some foods go. Good luck on your journey.

"Nobody likes a lecture".....Oh the irony! Lecturing the forum to not lecture in one of your first posts is quite ironic isn't it? I don't know if your comment looked good in your mind or are you just staking out your territory as the new kid on the playground?
Many people come here for advice. Some may look at the advice as a lecture, others may see it as guidance to make it through some tough times. Some people come to the forum and need support, positive support, some come to inspire others with their success and others need a kick in the a$$.
Many members only post supportive comments. Some of us(me) seem to lean more towards the no bull, just the facts kind of comments that can be misconstrued to be mean or lecturous.
Take the comments as you want, leave the ones you don't want. Sorry if this sounds like a lecture, it's not. It's advice from just one forum member. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to your supportive comments!

This site is like a slice of life. Even though we've never met face to face, we find those whom we gravitate to, and those we are repelled by. Yes, there certainly are those who respond as if they were the all mighty authority, but when posting in an open forum, you have to take the good with the not so good. Pick & choose what feels good to you, and walk away from the rest. If you have a question that you feel might bring on a collective attack, then the safest bet would be to send a private message to a few that you feel comfortable with.
Someone else made a post this past week, and within the post flat out said "don't come at me on this, because I will come back". I did want to respond to that post, but the defense was already up, so I walked away. This is a place I come to communicate with others who share a common thread. I'm not here to assert my anger in the world, and do not have the need for people see things my way. If someone gets something positive from one of my posts, great! If not, then they can read down the page and hopefully find something of value in the next response. We cannot control how people respond, or what they say on this site, no more than we can control what people say or do in our immediate lives. If you find a few people who rub you the wrong way, scroll past them to the ones who you value.

Every insurance and doctors have different ways. The best thing is for you to check with your insurance or you doctor's office.

Congratulations on starting over. I can understand your frustration. Some days I feel like I don't even have a band because I can eat a large meal without any problems. Some days, if I eat to much, my band will give me a soft stop sign (hiccups). That is when I know that it's time to stop eating. I discussed this with my surgeon last week and he said that this was normal because some days my band is tighter than other days. He said the band is not designed to stop me from eating but to help me feel satisfied. I had to realized that just because I could eat a large meal does not mean that I should!!!!!!! I had to stick to Portion Control and follow the rules of the band. I also had to realized that I had to get my head in the game. This is NOT a diet but a LIFE STYLE change. The band is only a tool and a tool is only as good as you work it. The most important thing is to discuss this with your doctor. Maybe have test done to make sure your band is working properly. I am proud of you. I know that starting over is not easy but YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but apologize for what? Pointing out the fact the original post was just an opinion and not at all based on facts?
This is a forum not a blog. People are going to respond whether you like it or not. This is especially true when you post things that are arguably bad or incorrect information.
I am not going to apologize for posting the truth and I don't care who gets their panties in a twist because of it. Just because you don't like the truth doesn't make it less true.

    let me add,
i stand by my belief that the small risk of band surgery was WORTH saving my life...i also stand by the fact that ANY surgery can have complications...
msmaui, i find that until you had complications, the band actually helped you lose weight and you seem to forget that...sorry if that is rude but i find your constant harping of the band failures also rude......
yes you are able to post what you want, good and bad....and i respect that and i support you and your recent surgery....

The article you stated was just opinion. Not a study and not fact. Opinion.
I'm sorry but opinions are useless. It's facts that matter.
This is an actual study and fact: "Gastric banding is safe and effective for managing obesity long-term, according to a study of patients 10 to 15 years after their surgeries."

Keep in mind you should not be gauging whether or not you need a fill based on how much you can eat. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything or control your portions. That will always be your job and why it's important you stick to band sized portions.
What the band is supposed do is keep you satisfied on less food for longer periods of time. This what should decide whether or not you need a fill- how well your hunger is controlled.
I agree with Catfish, your stomach is likely swollen from the fill then likely further irritated from eating too soon after. I would go on liquids for a day or two then gradually work back to real food. If you're then still having the same problems, call your doctor and discuss a small unfill.
    Best wishes.
