Pre Op Talk
Thanks so much for comments, made my day. I am on a 24 hour non fat diet and a 12 fast after that for my big 4 hour appt at the bariatric unit! Super excited. I feel a little blah bc I am so used to eating lots of protien and all i can have is toast popsicles boiled potatos or vegies and fruit.

Pre Op Talk
Ok so I am in the begining process of getting sleeved, and I am changing everything now before I actually have the surgery. I drink 70-100 oz of water a day, I am taking the vitamins and trying to eat protien first (obviously I can eat that plus the starch and veg and dessert....I am trying at least) and I am trying to excercise and try new foods. I am just so impatient all I have done is maintained the last 4 months which yes is better than gaining but I am just starting to get a little down that this process is sooooo slllllooooowwww to actually get to my surgery date. I would love some encouragement please I don't have too much support at home right now....

Tomorrow Is The Big Day
Good luck hun, rest up and relax tomorrow is the start to the rest of your life! Btw good job on not watching the scale, no need to stress out before the surgery. I know when I get to the week before I am having my hubby hide mine so I won't be worried about losing or not losing. Non scale victory you now don't have to worry about insurance company nonsense and all the appointments!

Just My Luck
Hey just think of it this way you save a few other people at that doctors office from getting sick and being put through that misery you went thru. Your appointment will come soon just focus on the prep for surgery and your new life after, get into an excercise routine, start drinking the 64 + oz of water, start a new hobby do something productive because you won't be doing to much while recovering. Get those last things in you want to do, hope your luck is better toward your next appointment dear

Really Need A Buddy?
I am just beginning my journey and have been feeling like no one really gets what I'm going through at home. My fiancé is extremely supportive but it's hard for him to really get what I'm going thru. I've been overweight my whole life and was picked on more like harassed my whole life he's always been a athlete and always under two hundred pounds. I just need a band buddy who can hold me accountable or just to lean on each other for support. Thanks!

Could I Be Your Mentor?
I would love some support I am still in the begininng stages of my journey but I am trying to get a jump start on the eatin habits and excercisng but I feel like no one supports my choices at home. They say they do the do the opposite of what they say I want to keep motivated and excited but it's really hard.

Nervous Wreck
I know how u feel I do the same thing I research and inform myself about every detail then I psyche myself out w all the bad info. But you got to remember why u r doing this in the first place to be healthy right? To have a longer healthier existence, and not to regret not being to do things a healthy person can do. I have. Baby girl wholl be one nd a fiancé who loves me they are all the reason I need to do whatever I need to do to be here as long as I can. Find that strength, your reason to be a better u and hold to it. I wish u all the best tomorrow, I hope I all goes well.

The Begining
To start my name is Allicia I am 22 years old, I am a mother of a beautifully perfect little girl. I am engaged to a wonderful and supportive man who has always stuck by me and is going to assist me in this journey. I have struggled for 20 years with my weight trying diet after diet I kept having the same results lose a little gain ALOT. Up until 4 months ago I had just given up and figured I've lived this long being 300+ pounds whatever. Then I stepped on the scale I was 320pounds I was back and determined to try again one last haul for the long road. I did a "lifestyle change" I ate really healthy, drank my 64 oz of water, and excercised a few times a week. After 2 months I weighted myself and I gained 15 pounds I was crushed I broke down crying thinking what is going on I am doing everything I am supposed to. I became depressed and didn't have much intrest in losing the weight until I realized my serious problem PORTION CONTROL! No matter what diet I was on my portions were still huge because I never felt full. I researched gastric bypass (my mother had that done not a pretty outcome) and found the Lap Band once I made myself informed on the procedure/before appointments and the life I would have to have after surgery I made up my mind. I was going to do something smart for myself and my family and get the tool I needed to succeed. I have now gotten my refferal from my PCP to see the surgeon, and I have collected all information from my insurance company on coverage i.e all I need to give them is referals from my PCP and my Surgeon and they are going to cover the before care, the surgery, post care and adjustments! I am thankful this process has been easy, I feel bad for those who have to fight tooth and nail to get insurance coverage or a doctor who is as willing to help me in this process. I hope that things continue to move slowly, right now I am focusing on my plan and getting my appointments scheduled. I hope to use this blog as my accountability resource, and continue to share my experience even if no one will read this it will help me remember the journey from begining to the end.

Great News!
I have absolutely no idea as to why they will cover me but my insurance rep. said that they will cover it, I also called and asked to speak to someone else because this also sounded strange to me but I won't knock it. If they will cover it then awesome saves me the hassle if in the end they change their mind then w.e don't bother me none, I plan to have more kids anyway so it'd be a long time anyways. No sense in a tummy tuck til after I am done having kids right? LOL Any ways thanks mis73 for the well wishes I super excited , I am a crazy coupon lady and I've already started to prepair for my new life/ pre and post op liquid diet. Got me some yummy things that won't go bad til like next year and my cute little blender and processor!

Great News!
I just found out my insurance is going to cover my lap band surgery as well as any after care including fills and abdominal skin removal when I get to goal weight. I am super re leaved that they aren't going to make me do a whole list of things before they will cover me, all I need is my PCP and surgeons to write a referral letter! I am withing 2-4 months from having my surgery depending on when my dietary, psychiatric and physical activity appointments happen! Wish me luck!

How To Bring Lap Up To My Doctor?
Thanks everyone for your imput! Good to know about the insurance company thing, I am not concerned considering I've tried everything and I lose a little then gain it back and more so I am not concerned with the insurance co. saying I can do it along. This is the smartest thing I will ever do for me and I won't let them stop me, I will make sure they hear what I have to say and that I am serious. I don't want to die young or have my kids have to live with a mom who can't do what she wants to do because of her weight. My mom had gastric bypass and she waited to long to do something, I missed out on playing outside, on having a mom who wanted to do stuff with me. I refuse to have my daughter go through that too. I am doing this for me and for her, I won't let anyone talk me into failure because I am done being unhealthy.

How To Bring Lap Up To My Doctor?
Thanks again everyone, I feel better at this point took some time today to call my insurance company they will cover the procedure and any care I need while in the program I just need my referal. I am putting together all my information, I also found that the hospital only a mere 45 min away has the program for weightloss surgery including a seminar, support group and great reviews from patients. So I am kinda excited to possibly get the tool I need to succeed in this never ending weight loss journey. I am so happy that my appointment wasn't immediate because I want to know what I am talking about to him. Thanks lorabeth I will remember that he works for me not the other way around, I know my body and how my life has been he doesn't. I am having my old pcp and my pediatric pcp sent over all files they have of me to him to help back my case up. I will be ready come may 3rd when my dr appt is...considering he was really booked must mean he's a good dr I hope
