  1. WOW.. that is awesome! I'm 7 1/2 months out and have lost 96 but can't imagine losing 128. I've just about stop losing. How in the world did you lost 14 pounds in a month?? I'm going to visit my family in March and would love to lose 20 more pounds before then but that is 10 pounds a month and I don't think I can do that at this point. :(

Congratulations on your progress. You have done awesome!! :)

  2. I had NO clue I would have to take shots after my surgery either until the surgery was done!! I got home and they called in my meds and I was told I had to give myself injections of blood thinners everyday. The first time was awkward. It really didn't hurt though. The needles are so small and they are prefilled syringes. You will be fine. It is a small price to pay for the benefits!! :)

  3. Praying for you!! You are so brave and I know things will be just fine for you. My best friend has a daughter who had to have a heart transplant. She was born without the left side of her heart and she lived with her old heart until 4 years ago. She is now 21 and doing fabulous!! Please keep us posted and I will definitely add you as a friend. God bless!

  4. My insurance wouldn't pay for my surgery either even though I had high blood pressure, borderline diabetes, and was almost 300 pounds. I decided to get online and apply for CareCredit which is high interest but I was approved and I had my surgery and paid 18,000 for it. I now make payments but I had no other choice. I knew I had to have this surgery and I borrowed the money. I'm so glad I did now. I am so much better and so much happier. Hope things turn out for you!! Oh and now I've lost 78 pounds in 5 months and am down to 218. :)

  5. Not sure if your surgeon requires a preop diet but I had to do one for two LONNNNGGG weeks! LOL It was the hardest two weeks of my life. I lost 15 pounds just on the pre op. I'm 5 months out and have lost 78 pounds to date. You will do fine and be so happy you did this. I won't lie, the first few months aren't easy but as the weeks go by. It gets easier. Good luck to you. :)

  6. That is great weight loss! I will be 5 months in a week and I'm only at 73 pounds. I have 21 more pounds until Onderland! I want to be there so badly. I don't think I'm losing like most. There are a few peoplethat are already at 100 and was sleeved in May like me! I can't figure it out. I'm happy though with my loss but I wish it would move faster.

So glad to hear you are doing so well! I know we couldn't lose this much weight without our sleeves in this amount of time. I do feel blessed. :)

  7. I'm sorry you are having a hard time lizzy. I was sleeved on Monday and have a lot of pain in the middle of my chest. Feels like I'm having a heart attack. Kinda like a labor contraction only in the chest and top of the stomach.

Try drinking gatoraid. It has been my life saver. I know we aren't supposed to drink sugar in anything but there isn't alot. It will make you feel better. It will still hurt when you swallow but can keep you hydrated.

I've doubted my decision too. Over and over.

I'm praying for you. We did choose this but we didn't choose to be in pain and have problems.

    God Bless

  8. I'm going to be completely honest with you! After surgery , It is a little easier.. right now i'm having what is called head hunger pain? I think that is what it is called. I dont feel hungry , thirsty , but i think i am. I'm 7 days post up now and i couldnt help but **this is gross , sorry** but chew up pickles and spit them out.. I just wanted them.. i'm craving sour stuff... I had lentil soup broth and added some vinegar in it for dinner yesterday .. didnt hurt me... The problem about the post op diet is that i had to be on liquid diet again for another 2 weeks.. so yes it's easier cause your not hungry , but at the same time I'm llike.. if i eat one more freaking posicle or sf jello i'm gonna freak!! lol.. BUT.. i put on my jeans today and they feel a ittle looser than usual!! So , i'm doing something right!! lol... it'll get better when i'm able to eat mush food.. all i can think about is crabs!! oh.. and of course the inside of a pickle!! lol... again .. dont stress so much... I also did a bowel prep 2 days before my surgery . I did 30cc's of miralax at 2 seperate times.. are you asked to do that??

You are so funny about those pickles!! :)

I think about having to be on two more weeks of liquid too after doing two weeks now for the preop. I'm not looking forward to it. I feel like I'm starving.

I haven't been asked to do a preop thing yet. The hospital should be calling me tomorrow. So, I guess they will let me know. I don't know why they would because I don't have anything in me anyway but liquids... YUCK!

  9. Hi. I lost my Mom due to a pulmonary embolism following a minor surgery, so I can understand your apprehension. I have that a bit as well (and I imagine I may have a more as I get closer to my 6/12 surgery date). Hang in there and I bet you'll be on the other side of your surgery before you know it!

Thank you! I'm so nervous and anxious but trying not to think about it. I know my surgeon puts his patients on blood thinners before and after surgery for 10 days, so I'm hoping It helps.

  10. Dont fret.. i will let you in on a secret... but dont tell anyone.. I had two meltdowns when i was on pre op liquid diet.. the worst meltdown was when i stopped at Wendy's and order 2 cheeseburgers and 2 chicken sandwiches.. I totally lost control... couldnt control myself and then cried... that happened 5 days before my surgery... and i still had the surgery, everything went great for me and it will for you as well!! ... I was freaking out that i wasnt going to have the surgery. Thinking that they would find bits and pieces of my burger floating in there.. yup that's how i was thinking.. i felt horrible.. but after that incident i was back on track.. I read a lot .. kept busy and worked on my garden to keep me under control...

Thanks Marina. It is so hard to stay in control. Is it easier after surgery?

  11. Yep, you'll be fine. Just make sure you have a few days before doing liquids. Soon, you'll be sleeved!!

Thanks Joni. I guess I'm just having a bad day. Blah! Be so happy to have this behind me. I've been drinking protein shakes but those aren't clear liquids. Should I do 48 of Clear liquids exempting the shakes?
