  1. I'm thinking it must have been the rice as well. I have a co-worker who had the surgery a few months ago and she was eating salmon sashimi with no problem by the 3rd or 4th month out. Rice tends to ball up and get stuck on the way down to the stomach and that might have been what caused the pain. Where did you feel the pain? Was it more chest pain or stomach pain?
  2. I need this info also because the meds I take have to be taken with food to avoid stomach upset...I wonder how we'll do that. I hope to hear the same answers as you.
  3. That's awesome! So glad you were pain free. Did your roomate have the same surgery?
  4. You should as your doctor first but the Lindora line of products offer a good variety of high Protein soups, shakes, and drinks that you could probably have during this phase. Check out Lindora.com or you can go to Rite Aide if you have one close becuause they sell some of their products too. *ask*
  5. You can also try out protein bullets. I got them from Vitaminshoppe. They're small tubes that pack a lot of protein.
  6. I hope you don't stop commenting because newbies like me need to hear the experiences of everybody. You said it right when you said that you were only sharing what works for you and that is exactly what I am trying learn from as many people as possible so please continue with your posts as I have found them very helfpful
  7. *I meant to say I'm NOT feeling as prepared as I should be by now.*
  8. So with my surgery date of April 12th fast approaching I'm starting to feel a little panicky inside. I feel like I'm as prepared as I should be by now. I've given up coffee and soda but have not stopped drinking with meals yet because it feels impossible not to! I'v found that I'm wanting to eat everything that is not nailed down because I think I won't be able to ever again. It's rediculous. I guess the food addiction thing is much deeper than I had realized before. I'm feeling scared that I will be miserable after surgery when I am not able to calm my nerves with food any longer. Any thoughts? What were your thoughts and feelings 2-3 weeks before your surgeries?
  9. I had mine done two months ago and it was easy peasy. I was nervous and worked up in the waiting room and when they got me hooked up to all the IV's and then wheeled me down the hall. But when I got in the room and they started the meds that sedate you I started to feel high as a kite and euphoric...lol The last thing I remember is feeling REAL good and thinking to myself "Oh Yea" lol and then I was out. The only thing I remember was coughing as the scope went down and that's it. When I came out of the sedation I was groggy for the rest of the day but overall it was super easy and nothing to be scared about even in the slightest. You'll do fine.
  10. OMG! Burning pain? That sounds like they didn't have you on enough pain meds to stop that from happening. Glad you made it through ok and are doing well.
  11. That sounds awful! I'm so sorry your nurse was cold hearted by letting you be sick all night long. I really hate to throw up and doing so with a freshly operated stomach sounds even worse. I hope I am able to have a better experience but it sounds like you were a trooper.
  12. Damn peer pressure! lol Well at least you learned what your body can tolerate now. You'll continue to do great.
  13. Yay Angie! You'll have to share your experience with me!!
  14. Thanks for sharing your experience! I sure hope mine goes just as well.
  15. My insurance is paying for my surgery but that is a great point! I'd better do some double checking to make sure they'll cover the gallbladder as well as the hiatal hernia repair. Thanks for the heads up!
  16. That's so exciting! You'll have to keep me posted so we can share our experiences together!
  17. After waiting for what seemed like forever, I finally got the call that I've been approved for surgery on the 12th of April-less than 3 weeks away! So excited I could pee my pants...lol
  18. Thanks for the input gals. I've done more research and have decided to just have it out altogether to avoid the possibility of having it out later. I've always struggleds with constipation (TMI!) anyway so hopefully the loose stools won't be a problem...lol
  19. I had my EGD last month and they told me I also have a hiatal hernia that will need to be repaired. It must be common for overweight people to have them since so many of us will need them repaired during our VSG's.
  20. Afro Cyster that's what I'm worried about as well but on the other hand I worry about needlessly removing an organ. Its all so darn confusing...lol
  21. Thanks ladies, Your experiences really help to ease my concerns.
  22. My surgeon is recommending an elective gallbladder removal with my vsg because he says that 4 out of 5 patients will have to have it removed anyway within the following 10-15 years due to the rapid weight loss. Anyone elected to this and did what were the effects?
  23. That sounds so encouraging, thanks! I've been so worried from watching all the horror story videos on Youtube...lol
  24. Wow! They let you go home the same day? What was your pain level?
  25. Hi All, I'm in the insurance approval process and waiting for for a date. Although I am not afraid of the actual surgery I find that I am very concerned about the pain and nausea after coming out of anesthesia. What have been your experiences?
