Where's My Hair? And Other Rants...
Hang it there girl! Remember that the hair loss and thinning is only temporary as your body focuses all its energy on losing weight. Once your weight begins to stabilize you will see that your hair will start to grow again. Acne is common for the same reason but once your hormones level out that will subside too. Try to focus on your improving health instead of your looks or you will drive yourself crazy. Focus on the fact that your joints and bones feel better, that your heart health is better, that your blood pressure of diabetes is better (if you have them). You are doing a wonderful thing for your body and that in and of itself is a very beautiful thing.

Surgery Vs Jenny Craig
It all depends on what your relationship is with food. I did the Jenny Craig thing and gained it all back and more because I am one who is dependent on food for comfort. This is something I've been working on for quite a while now in preparation for surgery. For me the surgery is the best tool I can give myself to help combat that dependency.

Leg Pain? What Would You Do?
You can also buy a pair of compression socks at a medical supply store of pharmacy that will mimic the ones that you wore in the hospital and will help to prevent clots.

How Long Did Your Process Take?
My process began in Sept of this year with the initial consult and ended this month. My surgery date is next week and the approval process for me was less than a week's time. I have UH for Railroad employees.

I'm In The Home Stretch.
Today I met with my surgeon for my final visit before surgery on April 12th next week. I had him on the hot seat as I grilled and drilled him with 2 handwritten pages full of questions. He answered them all patiently and we laughed and visited more like old friends than doctor and patient...lol He was so kind and and walked me through everything that I should and should not expect on surgery day. My husband got a real kick out of him too. He not only dismissed my initial consultation fee but today he also let me know that he would not be charging me a penny extra to repair the hiatal hernia they found during my endoscopy! I love my surgeon!!!

Gallbladder Removal

I Am 5 Weeks Post Op And Suddenly Feel Like I Have Something Stuck In My Throat. Help!
I haven't even been sleeved yet but I can tell you that cucumbers are notriously famous for causing heartburn and stomach upset especially if underipe and with skins on! I get immediate stomach pressure and burping right after eating them. Hope you get to feeling better soon. *Notoriously* lol

Help With Unflavored Protein!
So true about the Isopure! lol It actually tastes pretty good going in but as soon as you exhale, that nasty dry aftertaste slaps you upside the head...lol I've tried the grape, passion fruit, fruit punch and green apple. The green apple was the only one that I could drink and somewhat enjoy. I think the strong sour green apple flavor must distract you from the aftertaste or something.

Vomitting?
Thank you for sharing this. I will be extra cautious about bite size for that reason. I just bought some cocktail shrimp forks that I plan to use to size my bites. I'm sure I'll look silly but if it works who cares! lol

Vomitting?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. I've been so worried about being constantly sick and miserable that I had seriously considered rethinking the surgery but since this seems like a temporary and doable transition I am willing to tough it out to get to my goal.

Vomitting?
Your reply had me cracking up...just love your sense of humor! Glad to know that you didn't have this problem long term. I am wondering if this could also be caused by eating solids too soon or are others barfing from just Water? What exactly causes the vomitting?

Vomitting?
My surgery is on April 12th so I visit here daily and have been a little scared by all the posts I've been reading about the constant vomitting even long after surgery. Should I be worried about this? How common is it?

How Hungry Are You?
Ghrelin is the hormone that stimulates appetite and it is produced in the fundus/ upper part of the stomach which is mostly removed with vsg. I agree with others that most of us who need this surgery probably have some food addiction issues and that head hunger is most likely the cause of feeling so hungry post op.
