  1. Hello everyone! I am scheduled for May 16th! I can't believe how quick it is sneaking up on me! At the beginning it seemed like it would never come because I had all of the appts and it just didn't "feel real" well now I just have my last teaching visit with the PA and NUT on May 7th and then I will be in freak out mode! It's really hitting me now! Good luck everyone!!
  2. I am still on the preop diet : ( My surgery is scheduled for May 16th
  3. For some reason I keep going up and down on the last 4 pounds! I feel like I should have lost way more by now! Anyone have any tips to get the last 4 pounds off by Wednesday? Help!
  4. I am scheduled for surgery on May 16th and originally I wasn't going to tell anyone, but I work in the billing depr at the hospital I am having the Surgery at! I figured someone is bound to know when they work on my claim. Plus a few of my friends at work have had WLS so I know people are going to assume anyways. I told the people directly on my team because they would have to cover my job while I was out. After I told them, I immediately regretted it. But now I am just like whatever. I told them I didn't want the whole office knowing, so they should respect that. I work with a bunch of women who all love to gossip. They probably all know by now!
  5. Oh goodness, yeah keep him away from the vehicles! My boyfriend is a mechanic, I wish we were closer!
  6. Aww! I would try asking around and see if hubby or any of his friends can do the brakes? You can save some money on labor at least. You will get thru it! My surgery date is May16th and I am convinced something is going to happen to get in the way of it. Good luck with everything and I will definitely keep you in my prayers
  7. Oh my goodness I am so sorry! Will the Hospital allow you to set up a payment plan? I work at a hospital and we set people up on payment plans all the time... Whoops apparently I didnt read your post right! You already tried the payment plan! Darn!
  8. Hi everyone! I went to the WLS seminar at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA over a year ago, and something rubbed me the wrong way about the surgeon. I just didn't feel like it was right for me. He made a comment about how only 2% of obese people can lose the weight and keep it off. So I said forget, let me prove him wrong. I went out and bought an incline trainer and joined Weight Watchers (for the 3rd time) well a year later I was the same weight I was when I went to that first seminar! I work at Emerson Hospital so I had heard how they are no longer affiliated with that Surgeon (that I didn't care for), and that the WLS program was partnering up with Mass General. So I decided to go to another seminar and see if I felt any differently. The Surgeon started talking about the sleeve (which was not an option with the other Surgeon) I was suddenly excited and I knew this is what I wanted. I never wanted the lapband, but was scared of gastric bypass. I think I just knew instantly this was right for me. I made an appt that night for 1/16 and from there my journey started. I have a date for May16th for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy at Mass General Hospital and my Surgeon is Dr. Ozanan Meireles. I look forward to sharing my journey with you, and building friendships!
  9. Really? Is that what you have done since the beginning or did your diet just start? They had me start the diet on 1/16. I dont have any other special diet before surgery. Just the day before I will probably only be able to have clear liquids. I'm not going to lie, I have cheated a little bit. But game on girl, we can do this!
  10. Yes they are really quick! I am a Medical biller and don't have any complaints about them
  11. Yeah it was really quick. Well we are still waiting on approval from the insurance but she didn't see how there would be any issues. All of my pre-op requirements are complete. I am just happy I have a date!
  12. Thanks! I have gone up and down a little, but hey thats why I am having surgery! I want to lose more too before the big day too. Do you have to follow any type of diet? I am basically having 3 meals a day one meal is a protein shake and the others are 4 oz protein, 2 cups of veggies and 2 cups of fruit. No carbs. If I need a snack between meals it must be a protein. and water water water!!
  13. Hey! My date is actually the 16th. For some reason when I typed it in on my phone it changed the date on me! My first appt was on 1/16 (my birthday) and I weighed 263 I am 5'5 and 31 years old. Today I am 249 lbs. and my date is May 16th!
  14. I started by attending a WLS seminar at my hospital. From there I had scheduled an appt and I met with Dietician, Physician Assistant and a Mental Health Counselor. I have to follow a diet for 3 months and lose 10% of my weight as a reqiuirement for surgery. I was then scheduled for bloodwork, EKG,echocardiogram, chest X-RAY, Upper GI, and an abdominal ultrasound. There was an issue with my Upper GI so I needed to go for a Manometry test. I have hadto meet with the dietician monthly for a weigh in and turn in my food logs. Also a requirement was to attend 2 support group meetings at my hospital. It sounds like alot, but most of these things were scheduled in the same day. Now that I have my date, I have an appt coming up for a teaching class with my Dietican and the Physician Assistant, I assume to teach me what I need to do afer surgery. Then I also have pre-surgical testing and meeting with the Anesthesiologist 3 weeks before surgery.
  15. Well that was quick! Mass General called me the very next morning and scheduled me for May 16th Woo hoo!
  16. Finally got a date! Anyone else getting sleeved around this time? (My date is actually May 16th but I can't edit the title for some reason?)
  17. Ok so everything went well at my weigh in. The dietician said they will now submit it to Blue Cross. Once they get an approval they will call me to schedule!! She said probably the middle of May!
  18. Hello everyone! So I have met all of my pre-op obligation (lab work, EKG, echo, US, chest X-ray, upper GI, Esophageal manometry, 2 support group meeting all that good stuff) only thing I have left is I have 2 lbs left to meet the 10% requirement. I have an appt on 4/4 for weigh in and she said we then could discuss a date. So my question is how soon was you date? Did you start liquid then, or did you have some time? I know it all depends on scheduling, but does this mean I could have an April date? I am getting VERY EXCITED!
