Okay, if you havent had surgery and have infrequent periods, get ready? I had surgery Monday, August 20 and my period started this morning, August 25! I haven't had one since April and was just about convinced that menopause was calling my name. I'm kind of relieved!
  2. Well, here I am... I came home Tuesday at about 2 and went straight to my bed.. I just couldn't sleep at the hospital. I'm just really tired. I haven't been doing a good job of sipping because it hurts going down. I did get up to take a shower and take some medicine on Wednesday, but the thought of much else wore me out. I wasn't in a lot of pain, but there was some. I've never had children, so this was a lot for me. When I first woke up after surgery, I kept thinking of food and it made me incredibly nauseous. At one point, I had the dry heaves and the only thing that came up was the blue dye from the blue ice chips. I felt better after that. My shoulders were also aching. I read that's from gas or something or another, but there is a connection. I felt great on Thursday, but my parents came the same day and maybe I did too much because I've been tired today. I'm going to take something to sleep and turn in pretty early tonight. I didn't sleep well last night and I think that affected me. This eating thing is still tricky. That pain in my chest has still been there with the slightest bite or sip so I know I have not done well in the nutrition area. I've been living on Popsicles, the broth from Ramen noodles, and Jello. I'm a little head hungry because I would like to just chew something, but it's bearable. My parents ordered pizza last night! Do you believe?! But, the smell made me feel sick. My Dad had a Big Mac and I thought, 'How can you eat that?' I did try on a few clothes that i hadn't worn in a while and they fit, so that gave me hope. I wish i could take back some really great clothes that I've given away. My 'go to black pants that we all wear at least once a week to the office' are now a little saggy. Woohoo! Saturday I'm going to pick up the pace. I'm going to go walking in the AM and fill my Water bottle for the day and sip, sip, sip... I can't let this beat me! I have got to get with it! Enough about me, are you ready?
  3. I will be sure to ask when I go for my follow up. I was so out of it when I saw her after surgery.

  5. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! I made it. Woohoo... I'm at home now and just sleepy and tired. I haven't been doing a good job sipping because it hurts going down. I got up and took a shower. The thought of much else is draining right now. I have a ball attached to me that slowly releases pain meds for a couple days. I think for women who've had children this will be a piece of cake (yuck), but if you're like me and hadn't had a lot of medical issues, it might be a bit overwhelming. When I woke up from surgery, the thought of food was absolutely revolting to me. So much so, it was making me nauseous. And my friend was sitting in my room eating pizza when I woke up (double yuck)! She's a skinny cow! I was going to work Mon, but I think I might pass on that. We'll see... Thanks again everybody! Everybody will do great!
  6. I'm sitting here waiting for one of my friends. She's taking me to the hospital for surgery. My surgery was rescheduled from Thursday to today. I'm not really nervous. I'm just ready to get this part over with so that I can begin adjusting to the many changes. I will talk to you guys on Wednesday. Pray for me and I will pray for you.
  7. It's a whole lot cheaper if you don't have health insurance or if health insurance won't cover it. And there are meant fine doctors there.

Good question! I'd like to know the answer too!
  9. You were right! It is here already! I'm doing pretty well. I've got to be at the hospital at 5:30 am Monday! Woohoo! Let's get this show on the road! Tomorrow I'm going to clean out the old pipes with magnesium citrate. And Sunday I'll do all clear liquids! How are you? How far out are you? Are you pleased with your progress?
  10. I bought several bottles and liked the Alpine Punch. I was going to buy a big container for the clear liquid week, but you guys have made me change my mind. Thanks.
  11. I personally love high heels! That has probably contributed to my aching joints! So, I guess I'm no help, but maybe look at a Nine West or Bandolino. Some of their short boot styles tend to have chunky heels rather than pointy heels.
  12. Surgery on Monday. Top weight 303! Present weight 294. Goal weight 195. Personal goal 185 (1 lb less than the weight on my license!)
  13. I am having a hiatal hernia repair too. My surgery was supposed to be today, but had to be rescheduled to Monday. Long story... But, initially, my ins said that they would cover the sleeve and not the hernia because I had no record of problems with it. I couldn't wait to get a hold of that ins rep and say that if you look at my chart, I have had abdominal problems for years. Just because I didn't know it was the hernia and acid reflux causing these problems, doesn't mean that the problem didn't exist! Of course, now they are paying for both! Do you have any extra problems associated with the repair and not the sleeve?
  14. I agree on the no return calls from the coordinator, but she did respond to emails.
  15. Thanks, Justine13! I'm trying to hang in there.
  16. My surgeon's father was in a car accident in CA. So, my surgery was moved from Thursday, August 16 to Monday, August 20. I was very disappointed this morning, but I'm over it and just ready to get it done! Let's go!
  17. When I was waiting for approval, I was told by the nurse with the ins that they needed more info about my weightloss history. I asked if she needed that from me and she said she had requested it from my surgeon's office. It may have delayed the process some, but I was approved after 2 weeks. So, it's not unusual.
  18. I don't take lexapro, but I do take an anti-depressant. I was told to take before and after because anesthesia can aggravate depression.
  19. One of my friends had the VSG on a Thursday and was back at work Monday. She didnt know that she should take 2 weeks off. So, it's possible.
  20. Might. E a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act!
  21. I've always been one to lose lots of inches and less weight. I would be happy with that!
  22. I didn't have Aetna, but was told my ins used the Aetna criteria. I think that if you have a 40 or above BMI, co-morbidities are not required, but certainly help. Believe me, if you go through the battery of tests, they'll find something. I didn't know I had sleep apnea or GERD until this process began. I was approved on July 3 and my surgery is Aug 16. It will work out for you.
