Hi Jessica! I am also from Houston and will be having my op on July 6th. How was Dr Hollis? I have a fear of the gas (general anesthesia) they give you. Can you ease my mind a bit? Do you remember? Welcome to the site! I am sure you will find all the support you need here. THESE are GREAT people here and I have never been on any site so supportive and caring.

Hello all my July bandbuddies! DeAnn N~Are you saying that you never felt them give you the gas(general anesthesia)? That's the only thing I am worried about with the surgery. Had terrible halucinations from that and very scared to go through it again.

I have started my pre op diet which consists of 2 Protein shakes and dinner of lean meat/chicken/fish and veggies. My question is can I marinade them, if it is a healthy marinade? (I would be using the AMA cookbook recipes for the marinade) Also for the veggies, is salad allowed? Lettuce and tomatoes with balsamic vinegar? Black Beans? Thanks all!

Well, I am on the last part of the first journey! Heard from surgical unit today that I am planned for surgery July 6th. This is strange to look forward to something and then be scared! Oh well, buckle up buttercup, were going in!

Yes you are absolutely RIGHT! I am with CIGNA and my surgical unit called me about 3 wks ago to tell me. I have now been approved and will have surgery On July 6th. Whats wrong with those people? Don't they know we...(Lapbandtalkers)...are a tight knit group? Seriously, Longleggs, good luck with this! Feel free to contact me if you need anymore info.

JIM!!! STOP!!! Okay, got your attention? Now that said, I have not been through the surgery yet and like you I am going through all the panics you are right now. And every time I let it eat at me, some one lets me know there is always some one worse off. Lets say this, 10 years down the road, you are faced with open heart surgery, diabetes problems and have to have your eyes oped on, and you think back to this comparably simple operation which you didn't have.? And you wife and child? Now come on! They know this is for YOUR best. SO be a lil grumpy. I am sure they will live through it and be button popping proud of you. Your daughter, although I have no idea how old she is, will grow up and realize what her dad did, setting a great example for her. Job, its just a job and there are more out there! SO ONWARD JIM!! We are heading into it knowing,,,,,,it cant get worse! A wise man once told me, your fondest dreams and scariest nightmares never come true. GOOD LUCK!

I am not banded yet but have been trying to exercise. Has anyone noticed once they loose it gets easier? PLEASE SAY YES PLEASE SAY YES PLEASE SAY YES!

Okay, thanks Judy! I am experiencing discomfort in my right side, frontal region about 2 inches down from my bra. Feels like a rock. Just wondering if it was a possible hiatal. SIGH~~~ guess I need to see a doc! LOL like we all know this feeling, eh?

Let me ask, what does a hiatal hernia feel like?

OKay....gettin ready for my banding! Let me ask all you LB veterans, which appliances can you NOT live without with your new diet? I do not have a standard blender but do have a hand held one.....is this okay? Steamer for veggies? Anything else? Thanks, Kathie
