My diet guide has 2 weeks full liquids...and 3-5 weeks mushy/puree...so that sounds like to me starting at 14 days...just going to give it some more time i guess. not really having an issue with the liquids. Or maybe just add a soft food every couple days...thanks for your input and good luck with your surgery!

I bought a set at target, they were about $7. However I must admit they are toy story, but that's ok because I've always thought Buzz Lightyear was hot. Lol.

Hungry Girl cookbooks have tons of recipes with those shiritki noodles, she uses them in alot of her recipes, I have not been brave enough to try any though. You can also look on her website www.hungrygirl.com they have some there also.

I already posted this somewhere else but....
My dermatologist said taking Biotin with the Multivitamin was fine. I take 10,000mcg a day. She said to split the dosage because the body couldn't absorb that much at one time. She also said to take a Vitamin called AGPro. It's amino acids. The AGPro and Biotin work together to help with the hair loss.

Your questions are totally not crazy at all.
The mental thing happens for some people and not for others. Being mentally prepared is THE most important part of making the decision for surgery. During my pre-op liquid diet I worked hard on mentally preparing myself. And some switch in my head clicked and it wasn't as hard as I expected it to be. And after surgery, well... you can't eat as much, especially at first. There is "buyer's remorse" in the beginning, which I'm just now starting to work through myself. The mental part is a process I think that happens as you make the decision to do the surgery. Once you start losing weight after, and seeing these amazing results from your work it motivates you like nothing else to make the right choices. But, thats not everyone. Some people still struggle mentally and grieve the food they can't have for a while, or possible ever again.
I admit, during my pre-op liquid diet, I almost changed my mind. Not out of fear, but because I was being successful and wondered if I could do it without surgery. Then I reminded myself, that I had tried, and tried, and tired some more and always lost and gained and gained. There was a reason I looked at sleeve surgery to begin with!
With the sleeve, you will lose about 50-60% of your excess weight without doing much but, your new eating plan. If you work for it, within a year you can see yourself losing 80 - 100% of your excess weight. I'm just now at week 3 post op. And I personally, have had excellent results so far, however it hasn't been easy. The first week or so is really, really hard. But, when you read on this forum that each day gets easier, thats the honest truth. Each day does get easier.
I hope you find the answers you're looking for, and can make an informed, dedicated decision. Remember to take all the time in the world, ask all the silly questions you can think of, and lurk on this forum a lot.

I am not even a full month out (surgery was July 2nd) and I am down like 23 pounds from day of surgery. My clothes are fitting loose and I have soooo much more energy. I am already noticing my confidence returning...and my adventurous nature! The other day, I DIVED off a diving board - 3 times! My children have NEVER sen me do this! They loved it - and so did I!!! Also - we went to the movies, and my butt fit in the chair! My husband - who is 100% supportive and never made me feel less than sexy - is astounded! He is gone 2 weeks at a time - so he sees bigger changes than I do in the day to day functioning.......
I am excited...I haven't lost much in the last week and a half, but I have faith. food is not controlling my life, yet I enjoy SMALL portions of really good food that is good for me! I am hitting 60g of Protein a day - thank God I love fish!!

I personally believe in setting attainable goals. I personally would set a goal at the high end of normal for my body type. Then once that goal is attained you can Celebrate and use the motivation to evaluate where you are an maybe decide that you want to lose another 10 or 15lbs or not. Absolutely nothing wrong with setting multiple goals.

You can julienne it by hand which is what I did the first time i did it (basically just cut into really thin strips) but it's kind of a big pain in the butt. Or you can use a vegetable julienne peeler like this
    http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Julienne-Peeler/dp/B0000CCY1S/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1343432424&sr=1-4&keywords=vegetable+julienne
I saw it on Eggface's blog and now that I know the recipie is sucessful I'm gonna get one!

Aw that's disappointing! I'll still try them for the heck of it and if they aren't great I can always add extra sauce to cover them up lol but I do highly reccomend using zucchini as Pasta noodles. I made a shrimp garlic and bean dish and served it over 'zucchini noodles' and I didn't miss the pasta. Obviously it's not anything like real pasta but still a good idea!

Deep breaths guys =) we all just want each other to be healthy and okay through this healing time. No point in arguing down each other or trying defensive.
That being said, I miss my diet coke too =p but I'm enjoying my little ice chips at the moment. I love plain Water too though, so I don't think it'll be quite as difficult for me. I know that I have had a lot of friends quit soda and they always enjoyed replacing it with things like crystal light.

You could also try Shirataki noodles- they are made from tofu, have Protein and are low (or no) carb. Not sure. I haven't tried them yet but plan to because I am a big time Pasta lover! I've also tried julienned zucchini as a pasta swap and it was great!!

Exactly one month down today (Sleeved on June 27th). Weighed myself this morning at I was down 34.6 lbs! YAY!!!! Feeling pretty good, on the soft foods portion still, but only 3 more days of that till our doctor moves us onto a regular (Obviously low carb and sugar) diet. Can't wait to have tiny bits of beef again! ha ha, I always have been a red meat guy, but I'll still probably eat a majority of white meat just cuz it's more lean.

I try not to eat anything new at work. I do all experiments and reintroducing foods at home, and once I know something agrees with me, it goes to work with me. I won't really eat out for a while, brown bagging is totally the way to go.

Cheri I am with you on this one. I'm all about moderation, now this is not the old pre-sleeve moderation it's my new sleeve moderation. If I go to a party I dont want to ban myself from eatting a piece of cake. I want to say 95% of the time I am on my strict sleeve diet. However I feel it is unrealistic to think that I can deprive myself of foods that I enjoy. To those who can live the rest of their lives without ever eating a piece of cake, hey more power to you. But realistically that's not for me.
I think it's all about finding what's right for you. If moderation means its going to take me an extra month or two to get to goal, I'm fine with that. Also I feel a big part of moderation is making myself accountable, I do this via MFP. Which has been a greAt tool for me.

I just came across this recipe today. Can't believe I missed it. It's really crazy, I am on a pre-op diet, and yet I find myself printing recipes for my future days when I will again be able to enjoy food. This recipe is definitely making my list. Thanks for sharing.

I will not go back to the unhealthy food period. I have pretty much changed my eating habits. I don't do white flour, sugar, overly processed or packaged/canned foods, white Pasta or rice, fast food, breaded deep fried food, chips, full fat dressings or sour cream or any other full fat dairy except for cheese in very small amounts.
I will occasionally have potato - not fried.
I have found substitutes for everything. I make my own Protein, sugar free ice cream and other Desserts, I use non-fat Greek yogurt instead of mayo, dressing or sour cream (you can add blue cheese and herbs and spices to it).
I weigh and measure everything. I log everything I eat. It suits me fine.
I do have a tiny, tiny bit of 70-80% dark chocolate every night or every other night. I heard it's good for you and I can't/won't eat more than a tiny square.

I have a friend who had sleeve surgery a little over 2 years ago. She took on an "all things in moderation" point of view after she hit about a year out. She regrets that decision now because she is starting to see weight gain. Seeing her go through all these different phases in front of me, has let me learn from her mistakes. I'm not saying I'm going to eat like an angel forever, I'll have a bite of my own birthday cake, but I'm not going to allow myself to eat just anything. I don't want sweets right now, the idea of eating them kinda disgusts me, which is weird because I used to be the cupcake queen! For me personally, I really wanted sleeve surgery to be the tool that helped change me. From the inside out, I want food to be fuel, not food to be comfort or reward. I don't want this surgery, and struggling I'm doing now in the beginning to be in vain. Its just so easy for us to start out with good intentions, of all things in moderation to turn into self-sabotage because its so very easy to fall back to the way we mentally were before.
    Just my two cents.
