I will say this, I dont think anyone could have made me 100% at ease preoo. You are going to worry that you will be one of the 1% or less with problems. I was pretty scared until the day before surgery, I just felt at ease. I slept great that night. I was a bit nervouse that morning in the hospital but they gave me my liquid courage before hauling me in to the OR.
Waking up I was in a lot of pain. I really wasnt prepared for the pain. I was immediately told I they discovered a hiatal hernia and my surgeon repaired that as well and this is why I was in a lot of pain. I remember looking around and all the other people in recovery looked fine.
I got to my room still in pain. 30 min later came the pain pump. All was AWESOME after that.
Worst part was probably that leak test. Gross!!! But i made it through.
I will be 3 weeks post op Tuesday. I am doing well. I was 244 the day of surgery, I am 229 today.

I've always wondered what it will be like because of we go to dinner and he would notice that I'm barely eating anything. I kind of want to be up front and honest but then again I could always just say that I was nervous lol. I feel like it would be so much easier to date a guy who has gone through the same surgery!

That is awesome for you. Unfortunately, not everyone is in a place where they feel theycn be as open and confident with their decision as you are. Not everyone has people who would be supportive or non judgemental. People like myself from abused backrounds are harder on themselves and are brought up feeling loads of shame and the thought of more people judging them gives them anxiety and pain. And some people are just private in general.

Hi everyone! I am the original poster of this thread. I am not about 2 weeks from surgery! YAY! Well ....my intention was to keep this a secret from most everyone....and them something happened....i started feeling like I was filled with anxiety over keeping it all inside.
So I first told a couple girls at work....reactions were a little shocked and scared but after I explained everything and all the research I have done ect...they are supportive.
Told the inlaws tonight and they had questions but are backing me up. I think my MIL was a bit hurt that I thought she wouldnt be supportive. Anywho thats it.....everyone knows. IT IS A HUGE RELIEF!

There is a reason a lot of people are overweight, a lot of it has to deal with emotional issues, and with that comes lack of confidence and insecurity. I know how stupid it is for myself to care so much what others think or say about me. I know I shouldnt value what snotty b*****s think about me, but unfortunately, I do. One of things I miss most about being healthy is confidence! Even after surgery and weightloss.....i probably wont tell people at work though. I feel it is too intimate to share with people I dont know, or people who dont care about me.

I am up to bat first thing in the morning!!! See you all on the losers bench! Sending iyt big hugs and prayers for everyone tomorrow!!!!

Everything went great, the nurses and doctors at Wise Regional are great! I got to the hospital at 6:00am and I was on my way to the operating room by 8:00. All I remember was them giving me something to "relax me" as they wheeled me down the hall, then I was out like a light. LOL! I woke up and was immediately taken to my room where my hubby was waiting for me. I was up and out of the bed within an hour, then I snoozed for a few hours. I got up and walked all through the night and at really helped with the gas pains. Around 8:00 the next morning they took me for my leak test and about an hour later I was cleared to drink liquids. I had to drink 1oz every 15 min., and to be honest that was pretty uncomfortable. I had a hernia repaired, and that caused a bit of pain with swallowing the first 2 days. By the 3rd day, I could tolerate swallowing much better and I was completely off pain meds.
I am very pleased with the level of care I've recieved and the kindness that the staff at Wise Regional and Dr. Stowers' office has shown me. Good luck! Only a few more days for you!!!

Biotin! and I hve read Iron helps as well. Talk to your Dr's office to make sure you can take them and how much

I am being sleeved on Tuesday the 21st..... only 5 days away. I am on day 3 of my liquid diet, THe first two days were HELL with terrible headaches, day three isn't bad at all...but here it is fellow VST'ers.....I have become total food stalker!!!
I have been researching all kinds of receipes and foods for post op. Had to walk all over Sams Club today and see what kinds of foods I can eat and how much Protein things have. Im in total food porn mode!
I havent cheated one bit...and the food I am looking at, researching, writing down, and licking my lips over is all healthy protein options.......but it still feel scandalous. LOL
