Curious..
Wow! Sometimes the stats amaze me! And Gastric..yes, Im one of your regular readers. I follow several from VST. Its so interesting to see the life altering change after this surgery...and most in such a short period. There has to be some self image shock with that. I expect to lose slow once I get there. Im not only not in the highest of BMI but Im only 5'0...lucky me lol..5lbs looks like 15. But I hope that works in reverse too. ; )

Dr. Kelly?
Awesome! Thank you so much. I thought I had decided on a doc, but I think I'd like to get info from Kelly. Great recommendations and credentials. Ive also had a taste of coordinators and not sure that route is for me. Thanks again and best of luck with your upcoming surgery. : )

Dr. Kelly?
Ok, I know I saw contact info somewhere but I can't find it anymore. Ive heard so many good things about him and Omar would like to get info, maybe skip the whole coordinator thing. Thanks : )

Two Years!
You look wonderful! Thanks for the info in skin. Makes sense that the body would take awhile to "figure it out". Congrats on the upcoming little one. So happy for all your success.

Ended Up In Er Yesterday On Vaca..... And
I had to explain it when I saw the GI doc's PA before my manometry. Surprising that the info hasn't reached more of the medical community. Kinda makes me glad I'll be a self pay in Mexico. Maybe Ill just print out an explanation to attach to my med list for all appointments post sleeve. Lol

Richmond Virginia Sleevers Around?
Insurance told office it was covered, told me it was covered. And it is...I went through all testing and everything before we found out my employer opted to cover all pre but not the actual surgery. It wasn't their fault really. Just inaccurate info. But the office kinda left me hangin when they found out it was gonna be a fight. Dr. Garcia here I come. Lol

Richmond Virginia Sleevers Around?
Good luck Alicia. I hope all goes well. I asked Dr. ELLIOTS office to submit mine despite the fact we knew we would get an initial denial, that was 3-4 weeks ago. As soon as it looked like we may have to put some work into approval, the office seemed to drop me like a hot 'tater. So Im heading to mexico after tax season. I like Dr Elliot, hes great. His nurse too, but they don't seem familiar with helping in an appeal process. The nurse even stated to me that it would be a learning process for her. Wow. Thanks for the guidance here. Lol I hope your experience is better..first time approval for you but just wanted to put the info out there for others when considering offices and how eager your insurance is to cover surgery.

Mexican Lasagna
ForMyFam, yes Ive tried that as well. It is good. This time I worked w/ the wontons looking to duplicate texture without crazy carbs and sacrificing flavor. I get alot of ideas reading these threads. : ) keep em coming.

Mexican Lasagna
Thanks Minckle, but it was a simple creation. 40min from start to table.

What To Do About Hanging Skin?
Congrats on your success! And welcome to VST : )

Mexican Lasagna
Ok, Im not sleeved yet. But love to cook and experiment. I found if you soak wonton wrappers for a few minutes they make a perfect sub for lasagna pasta. I made this a couple nights ago: 1lb ground chicken or turkey 8 wonton wraps 3/4 cup ff cheese (I used jalapeno jack) 1 10oz can enchalada sauce 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 chopped jalapeno (cored) 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1 small avacado Plain greek yogurt Preheat oben to 375. Brown meat (drain if needed) add onions, jalapeno and cilantro and 1/2 of the enchalada sauce. Soak wontons in a bowl of water while this cooks for about 10 mins. Spray small baking dish w/ nonstick spray. (I used a small 6x6) Carefully layer bottom with 4 wontons with slight overlap. Add a layer of meat mixture, sprinkle with cheese, repeat. Top off with remaining sauce and cheese Bake in oven approx 20 min or until cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Top with small amount chopped avacado and a dab of plain greek yogurt. This makes 4 servings for nonsleeved folk. With ground chicken: 278 cal, 28 protein (this is calced with a nonsleeve serving) Sorry no pic..it was a pretty dish and very good..but my son left nothing for the camera. : /

Richmond Virginia Sleevers Around?
Its a Dr. Elliott thing. He likes to be sure the cardiac sphincter is working properly so as not to exacerbate gastric reflux. GR can be made worse by the sleeve if its caused from the sphincter and not just due to the persons weight. So says he. Smile

Emily Bites French Dip Cupcakes...yum
I used 1 wonton, canned chicken ,2tbsp Moores buffalo sauce mixed w/ chicken. Topped some w/ cheddar, some w/ blue cheese. Appetizer for 4th of July. Family gobbled them up.

I Am Skinny And...
No offense intended and understandable if the large stall is needed for whatever reason, but when my mother was wheelchair bound for 3 years it used to really bother me when I would take her in to a public restroom (all small stalls empty),and wait around for the handicap stall only for a small very able bodied person to finally emerge. Kinda like a healthy person taking a handicap parking space.

Seconding Guessing Here @ The Last Minute...surgery On Saturday!
Don't back out! I can only pray that I may be in your position when tax time rolls around!! My employer opted out of surgery coverage. You have a wonderful opportunity to better yourself and your quality of life. Please don't let last minute jitters change this decision you've made for yourself.
