  1. It was for me. Sleeved 2/29 there weeks out today and I feel great. The first week was the worst. I didn't most if the day sleeping. It strange how quickly your body comes around. I often described my first week as feeling like I had literally been in my dryer but it gets so much better. Call your doctor and ask for something stronger oh you can.
  2. So I've been scared to death for the past few days kind of holding it in scared to tell anyone. Ive been experiencing some shoulder discomfort for the past week which after much reading I've learned is the sign of a leak. I've been super paranoid and finally got the nerve to call my doctor yesterday. I kept hoping it would go away and it didn't. Well the doctor called me back yesterday but I missed the call. They called today and had me go straight to the hospital where they performed tests. One which involved an IV of iodine that made you feel extremely hot and has a funny sensation that makes you feel like you are peeing on yourself. Anyway my doctor called and said I am good. I almost cried in the office. He said I did the right thing by letting then know. I will be three weeks out tom. and feel great. Anyway just felt like sharing. I'm still not losing a, lot of weight but my protein and water intake gets better everyday and my daily walks are up to 4.5 miles so hopefully the weight will follow. Word to the wise if you aren't feeling good dont be like me and hope it goes away. I could just hear all my critics saying that's what she gets for using surgery to lose weight. People assume bariatric surgery is magic and you just get skinny they have no idea!
  3. My doctor had me taking biotin but I'm newly sleeved so I'm but sure if it helps but it is supposed to. Good luck
  4. I dont think it matters as long as they are SF
  5. Yes I love my soft foods. I love tuna salad and I love fauxsagna which I found on this site. Both have lots of protein. Honestly the thought of soup or broth makes me sick!!!
  6. I usually need a nap around ten also. We will see how that works on thursday when I go back to work. I am getting more protein in with my foods thank goodness for greek yogurt and mozerrella sticks!
  7. Lol 3 weeks out and I love my SF pops. My neighborhood store ran out and I almost lost it. Doesn't help that my emotions are a total roller coaster!
  8. Should say being nauseous after the surgery and they put something in my iv. My cell phone has a mind of its own
  9. Hey guys I will be three weeks out on Wednesday. I just started soft foods and go to the bathroom maybe every other day. My doctor just made me start taking fiber so that may change. I can honestly say that I have been super lucky with the nausea and vomiting. My nurse told me to really stress about my fear of being nausea after the forget so they have me something before and to this day I have not been nauseous. I do have meds for it but really haven't needed it. I have throw up once but it was from drinking to soon after eating. It wasn't like vomiting from being sick it was literally the water coming back up. Hope this helps
  10. Just started using app on my phone to count calories. My NUT said I should be getting 500-800 calories per day. Just curious what others are getting? Sleeved 2/29
  11. Sleeved 2/29. Just think in another week you will be reading about other people newly sleeved. In just a couplw days you will feel brand new!
  12. I can't wait to shop. I hate plus size clothes and can't wait to get regular size.
  13. Sending prayers up. My surgery was early in the morning also I think that's best get it over early. You still be done before you know it!
  14. Good morning guys I am two weeks out and can tell you the first week was the pits!!!! Believe me it gets better. I had the tightness in chest n my tummy made horrible sounds. I also gained weight from fluids in the hospital. I will be three weeks on Wed and I am no longer sore and the tightness in my chest is gone. I feel great. I dont think I was prepared for my first week but it does get better!!!
  15. I was sleeved on 2/29 and I'm starting to think something is wrong? I've been trying to stay positive but the scale doesn't help. I've put my scale away because honestly it's depressing. In the past I would have handled this frustration with all of my favorite foods, after all what's the point of doing all this work and not losing. One great thing about the sleeve it's forced me to stop my old habits. Eating is something I have to do on a daily basis but not something I enjoy doing anymore. Hopefully we will be on the loser side some time soon. Hoping for some lower numbers when I hit my month????? I have been exercising and I've very proud of myself. I've been getting my protein in and logging all my calories. Yesterday I walked 4 miles and did little bits of jogging. With that said if I don't see some changes in a month I know something is wrong! Ugh so frustrating.
  16. Mine started day 2. Feel lucky if you don't get it! Mine felt braxton hicks
  17. Mine was 17 even lower and I live in NC. I was given some pretty high doses of vitamin D by my primary doctor to take the weeks before surgery. My doc said must people today have low levels.
  18. Wow that's great. I still get there but right now I get full really fast and there doesn't seen to be enough time in the day to sip all my water. But from the post its common and gets better.
  19. Fauxsagna was, without a doubt- my favorite! What's Fauxsagna?
  20. I am officially two weeks post op today. I had my NUT visit today and was given a list of foods I can eat for the next four weeks. Of course the list has eggs, refried Beans, cheese, ect. I went to the store today and brought everything on the list. The funny thing is I feel very overwhelmed by food right now. The pre-surgery me never felt like that. But the new me is like ok what should I eat........ We went over portion sizes at my appt. and they recommend eating 1/4 cup of food at a time. I'm also worried about the list and hoping I will like some of the things that I never would have ate before like cottage cheese YUCK. Also they have ricotta cheese????? I know about ricotta on lasagna and in food but are you suppose to just scoop it out and eat it plain. Also with the refried beans do you just eat them plain? So VETS I need your help with this or else I'll be eating eggs for the next 4 weeks!!!
  21. I have a list from my NUT who I saw today and I can start mushy foods today for the next five weeks. I have a pretty long list of things I can eat but I can only eat 1/4 cup at one time. I went to the store but being able to eat food again seems so overwhelming and I'm not sure what I'm going to eat?
  22. Went to my NUT today and she's more concerned with me getting my water in. I am able to start on some mushy foods and she wants me to try to get protein in with foods but she would prefer for me to get my water in first. She also said that water that you use to make a shake doesn't count towards water intake. So for example I mix unjury with crystal light/water and that doesn't count towards water but counts towards protein. Ugh so much stuff to learn.
  23. My co-worker also used 100% shea butter and you can barely see her surgery scars so I think that's the direction I will go in. Thanks everyone for your responses. Very helpful!
  24. I strained a lot of cream soups to include chicken and mushroom. Went to my NUT today and it looks like I can slowly start my journey to solid foods. I have a list of food to start with. I can only eat 1/4 cup of food at a time and it should be mashable (not sure if this is a word) with a fork. They really push eating eggs. I'm just so excited to eat I'm curious to see what my new tummy will tolerate. I can say that I've been lucky and have not had to vomit or felt nauseous at all but I do have meds for it just in case. Also my NUT goes with the 60 60 60 rule. You will notice on this site there are so many different ways that things are done after surgery. But I have to do 60 minutes of exercise, 60 grams of protein and 60 ounces of water. At my appointment today I explained I've been getting my protein in but not my water. She wants me to try to get more protein in with foods and less shakes and concentrate on getting my water in. Anyway hope all of this helps you.
