6 Months Out, 125 Pounds Down -
Just popping in online to update my weightloss tracker. I'm down to 265 from 390 with a VGS surgery date of 1/12/2012. I'm finding I don't come on the site much any more and I'm starting to think some of the other people who are Veteran sleevers don't visit much after they hit their goals. This place is a great for motovation. For those on the fence with fear about it, sometimes you just have to take a chance and do something that will BETTER you. W

Im So Scared To Do This!
Watch the stories of people who got the VSG on youtube. That helped me decide to do it. Now I'm studly as ever!

Sugar Free Chocolate Bar
Beware of chocolates like that and the other ones by Hershey and Russel Stover. They have a laxative effect on the body and its REALLY noticeable to a VSG person (I tried them all)

- How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
Monday mornings only..and I mark the weight on a wall calendar. I have my progression since my surgery on Jan 12th...the progression keeps me focused on doing well on the plan- Tmi Question For Those About 1-Year Out
I never had the issue but I do take a gummy fiber supplement daily...Works like a charm with no issues. Walmart has Fiber Gummies and they taste just like candy- 2 Days Post-Op
This makes us Sleeve Buddies!- 2 Days Post-Op
Nope you're fine. I had zero pain and no trouble taking in liquids like you. One night stay in the hospital and was back to work on day 2. Just took it easy while things healed up- Excess Skin
a strict weight training and body toning plan has prevent this issue for me (hired a trainer). Yes its true insurance won't cover the skin removal for cosmetic reasons but may due to medical reasons (I have an insurance license). Don't fear about the skin issue, it can be sorted out. Your new life after weightloss will far out weight it- Loosing To Fast?
To add more on my post. I also do the no carb diet with no breads, flour, or sugars of any kind.- Loosing To Fast?
You sound much like me. I took off like a rocket and lost like 60 pounds in six weeks. But now I'm at my 6 month mark losing 2-5 pounds a week (down 110 pounds since Jan now). It will level off eventually for you. As long as your labs show vitamin intake is fine and you're hitting the protein mark it should be ok.- My First ” Stomach” Ache And I Cant Have Ginger Ale
Use this suggestion only in moderation: You can take a ginger ale and shake the bottle and get it all flat. (shake, release the pressure, then repeat a few times) ONLY if that's the option of last resort...- Do U Now Look Older?
Nope, I'm looking 5+ years YOUNGER- Would Vsg Be Like Bypass?
The person above me is right. You can gain weight with any weightloss procedure. Your focus and diet from this point on has to be different than your past life. Its hard to realize and describe this now since you're pre op but once your weigtloss is coming off and you start feeling better and get compliments, you'll not want to go back to old habits. Good Luck!- Oikos Greek Yogurt
Its great for post op soft foods where it has the high protein. I found the Vanilla flavor has less sugar in it than the ones with FRUIT in the bottom. For the small portion that it is, I think it makes a great high protein snack or the occasional "sweet treat"- How Many Carbs A Day?
I've excelled my weightloss going no carb...but my weightloss manual said to keep servings at 20 grams or less per serving- Self Pay With Questions!
Yea the hoops are less for self pay but I don't know if they can get you into surgery as fast as you're expecting. It took 2 months from first consult for me to get the VSG done on my self pay. My doc made me go through an EKG, Chest x ray, and an EGD scope before surgery (which he made all patients due). Its going to have to be the prep steps of your surgeon that will determine how fast you get it done, but either way is much faster than with insurance - How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
