  1. Okay...this is a very embarrassing question...but I am curious none the less. Joking around with my husband the other night. He asked why I was tired...I said its probably because I didn't get all of my protein in for the day. To which he responded "I've got your protein"....typical guy. After I chuckled a little...I got to thinking. Hmmm...it is protein...so if you engage in....uhm...oral. Does anyone know how much protein that could be? I think I'm onto something here. It could be a win win for both me and hubby...lol

What a loser!!!! I can see how that comment would have cut deep. I hope he learned his lesson. Kind of reminds me of shallow hal's buddy with the tail...lol He always talked bad about women who weren't perfect and it turned out he had many issues of his own...lol BTW - I went through True Results in Houston. Love the experience. They give you an option of getting fills at the surgeon's office or at True Results....my particular surgeon really didn't have an aftercare program....so next fill I am going back to True Results...I hear their program is more informational and supportive.
  3. This thread is hilarious!!!! fnicole...apparently you are not an odd woman out...according to the pole there are more women that like it than those who don't...there are many freaky banded ladies on this site....love it!
  4. Congrats!!! That is amazing!
  5. I really like the chocolate Pure Protein powder from WalMart. With two scoops it is 50mg protein. I make with with ice and Water every morning. Pretty tasty. Also - have you tried Weight Watchers Ice Cream? It is decadent and not cheating
  6. Thanks everyone for responding!!!
  7. Makes sense.... so with that in mind...would you do 2 oz protein and 1/4 veggies? to stay under your a total of 4oz or 1/2 cup.
  8. It's kind of hard as some go by weight and others by volume. I know that eventually it should come down to satiety....but right now I am measuring and like a few others posted...If I eat my portion and I am still "hungry" then I still don't eat more. Which honestly that has only happened once or twice. Now I have had head hunger many times after my portion. It is just confusing to me....which guideline should be used 4oz or 1/2 cup. Clearly they aren't always equal. Hmmmm...
  9. Okay...I am really curious. Since I have been able to graduate to "normal" food and increase my portion from 1/4 cup (2oz) to 1/2 cup (4oz)...I feel like there is tons of food on my plate. 4 oz is actually quite a bit of food. I never finish it...I have had one fill so for. So here is my question. Are 1/2 cup measurements truly equal to 4 oz measurements? For example - I weighed out scrambled eggs, 1 turkey sausage link and half piece of hard toast and it came out to 3.7 ounces...which is right in line with my guidelines...however visually looking at that on a plate...I know that will not fit into a 1/2 cup measuring cup. Or maybe it will if it was all squished up. I just want to make sure that I am not stretching my little pouch without realizing it. Also - does that limit apply to Protein shakes? I drink a 10-12 ounce Protein shake on my way to work every day. It only takes me about 30 minutes to get to work....should that be split to 4 ounces as well. Just curious....Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  10. Just curious - what silly food were you hanging onto? Just wondering if I am doing the same.
  11. LOL Love this post!
  12. Congrats!!! The pain & discomfort should be gone in a few days and you will be ready to start your journey.
  13. I was banded April 3rd. The first week I slept with a pillow on my tummy on my side...just in case my hubby bumped me or our pug jumped on me by accident. Plus i was still sore from the surgery. However I am a tummy sleeper and have been sleeping on my tummy ever since. I don't have any issues with it. Everything is secure inside you and it's not going anywhere regardless of how you sleep. No worries.
  14. Actually...things taste better to me. I actually slow down to taste it now.
  15. Truly inspirational...how often did you see your doc during the 16 months? Was it for follow-up or just fills? Just wondering. Thanks and Congrats!
  16. Let's start a list of healthy alternative slider foods.... I just had a fill and almost went for a milk shake at Chick-Fil-A....opted for the Yogurt Parfait instead....not the best choice but much better than the shake. Anyone else with examples to help with alternatives??
  17. My third day was my worst day for some reason...but take heart in knowing that most people that I have seen post on here started feeling much better by day 4 and 5.....you can get through this rough patch. Good luck to you!
  18. Jim - that is most certainly part of my motivation as well and my biggest fear. Just about everyone knows and i know they are watching me...some critical and some cheering me on. I want to tick off the critical naysayers and not disappoint the cheering crowd. Every time I am tempted to have something I shouldn't - I think of that. I also tell myself that there may be a time when I can have that treat in moderation and when I won't feel guilty about it. It's kind of my little psychological trick to keep me strong...on days I feel weak.
  19. I really don't think there are any magic fixes/procedures...and why some are successful with any particular procedure while others are not is beyond my knowledge. But perhaps with more people coming out and sharing it will help us understand why it isn't working for some and working for others. Is it physical, psychological or luck? ...or maybe a combination of all three. I can't do anything about the luck....but I am trying to combat obesity both physically with the band and psychologically with counseling and hope that through both angles I can combat it. I have heard of people gaining back weight with the other weight loss surgeries as well and in fact using the band ontop of a Gastric Bypass...etc. Good luck and I hope you are able to find more answers here. I will be following along so that maybe advice from this posting can help me in my journey.
  20. I have a sweet tooth and hawaiian punch makes a no calorie flavor packet just like Crystal Light....but much sweeter. Love it...

Congrats!!!! I can't wait until I can say that!
  22. I got a weird rash in various spots on my tummy, then under my chest. I asked my doc about it...and he said Yeast infection. They give you a huge amount of antibiotic via IV when you go in for surgery. That plus your immune system is traumatized can make you suseptible to a skin yeast infection. He gave me a pill and it went away in a week.
  23. Thanks guys....I will just power on...if anything I have the support in here
  24. I don't really have periods anymore...I have an implanon. But it was pretty low...that's why I thought it kind of weird and it was directly after the fill. Better now...I got it about 4:00pm and its 6:21pm here now.
  25. I thought the same. He didn't say anything about my weight loss. I honestly just walked in...sat on the table...he stuck the shot thing in my port. I sat up and stood in front of the Xray and swallowed barium...then I was done. he told me to drink Water before I left and gave me a sheet of paper telling me what to look for to determine if I need another fill. Then I was done and the next lady was called in. I did weigh with the nurse before I went back...but it just seemed kind of strange. Seems like everyone else has a little more hands-on and opportunity to ask questions. BTW - he put 2CC's extra in. So I think I have 4.6 altogether. On the bottom of the sheet he gave me it did say that partnership with your doc is important. I called on my way home...thinking maybe I should have stopped by the desk before I left to make an appointment and that's when the lady told me that i only need to come back in if I need a fill or have issues. But not for maintenance... Not the end of the world...but just wondered what everyone else's experience was like.
