Help!
Try the heating pad...it will get better I promise. When I raised my arm in the air...it seemed to help as well. I know sounds weird...but whatever works...right?

Help!
Dr. Wilkenfeld is located on 242 and hwy 45 in Conroe. I go to him and they say they only charge $75 for a fill under fluoroscopy. They may offer the same thing to those who did not get surgery through them as well. It's work a phone call. Good Luck!

Am The Only One Freaked Out By Shirleys Post??
No - you are not. I am too. I talked to my husband last night as I had to get it off my chest as well. We really don't know all the details...but I can't help but feel that if they had removed it the first time she was in the hospital then none of this would have happened. I know she said they didn't have a bariatric doctor or something at the hospital...but they should have found one. I can't believe they discharged her. I am not someone that is an advocate of taking people to court...but I think I would in this case...

Sushi - Holy Cow!
I thought I would update you ladies on how dinner went last night. It went awesome thanks to everyone's advice. I took a nibble at each course and I even ate some raw fish...I think it was the yellow tail nihiri roll thing. I nibbled on the rice clump underneath it but it was spicy and since i can't drink and eat....I didn't dare try anymore of it. I felt like I cheated because I had a spoon of this weird ice cream stuff in a weird shell thing and a spoon of creme brule. I was incredibly stuffed...it was hard to tell how much I actually ate...but I would estimate it at around 1/4 cup all together. I do have to say that learning to use chop sticks can really make you slow down and eat little bites....lol I was also incredibly proud of my husband for trying some new things...however he ultimately ordered off the menu and got some Kobe beef. which was so tender he cut with his fork. I am not a beef person...but once I get to be able to have beef and pork again...I would like to try that. I heard that Kobe beef was imported from Japan and the cows actually get daily massages...lol

Biggest Concern
My shoulder pain was yucky at first but with a heating pad it was just fine. My incisions were like the others...stitched on the inside and derma bond on the outside....no steri strips or bandages.

Eat All Day Long!
You can do it!!!!! I recently bought Body Fortress shake mix that is a whopping 270 calories...even pre-op it kept me full and has 52 grams of protein!!! Plus I think the chocolate flavor is pretty yummy.

How Long Did It Take To Get Lab Results Back?
Have you had H.pylori before? If so - you will always test positive on your blood result even if you don't have it any longer. Are you pre-op?

54Shirley Passed Away
So sad...and tragic...

54Shirley Passed Away
Isn't she the one that had a slipped band and the hospital wouldn't do anything until an appt. on May 1st...because they weren't a bariatric hospital or something like that? This is so sad...do they know the cause and if it was related to the slip?

What's For Dinner
tonight is the night we have to go to a sushi restaurant for my work. So I will have about 5-6 spoonfuls of some kind of raw fish and probably some Miso Soup. I think my poor hubby will have a harder time with it...he is more of a meat and potatoes country boy....lol I told him he could have a burger on his way home

My First Nsv (Non Scale Victory)
Thank you guys...it is pretty awesome. Diabetes is one of those cruel diseases that makes you crave what will end up killing you. I don't know if its the band or the lower blood sugars...but my cravings are more in control. Not to mention I am not running to the ladies room every hour!

Advanced! Crackers! Hooray!

Advice On Diet
Thanks guys...makes perfect sense. My husband has threatened to hide my scale...maybe I should let him so I will quite obsessing and just do what I am supposed to do.
-
Venting!
sue - I feel your frustration. If i remember correctly we were banded about the same time. I have lost only 1 pound per week after my first week. It seems like I keep playing with the same pound on the scale and to the point that my husband threatened to hide the scale! I know I obsess over it way too much! I think I have the same issues as you. I am really not hungry but if I eat exactly the measurements the doc recommends then I am getting in very little calories. After my first fill on May 7th - I can increase my portions...hopefully that will help.
-
Advice On Diet
Honk - my doc is kind of aggressive on the post op diet progression. He has allowed us certain solid foods, tuna, cheese, cheerios (yum), eggs and a few other items. He has asked us to stay away from pork/beef and can only have ground chicken/turkey til my first fill. I suspect the cheerios were too good to be true...sniff sniff Mis73 - I hope to be able to work in more calories after May7th...I will be able to increase from 1/4 cup per meal (2oz) to 1/2 cup per meal (4oz). that should almost double my calories...and maybe I can cut back on the shake since I will be getting in more calories. Passionatehrt - I suspected the carbs as well...but I thought with so few calories it would be okay. 15 carbs from from the shake...but with 52 grams of Protein I really don't want to cut that out at this point. I think I will have to limit or give up my cheerios...I probably won't be able to tolerate them after my first fill anyhow...too bad they really are a treat.
