  1. that should read milk...lol.
  2. have you tried whipping it up in a bowl, with some mild and putting it in the microwave?/ watch it carefully... it makes a great scrambled egg.
  3. there are some really good rubs out now. not sure that aspirin rubs are a good idea though as they penetrate the skin and go to the lining of the stomach.. ive used some really good ones. also you can buy really good knee supports that you wear. i have two artificial knees, and arthritis in my feet and hands as well. im going to be up against it as well. i dont take meds for it though.
  4. i did read somewhere that some people have tighter bands in the mornings and it loosens up as the day goes on... so would you need to adjust your eating as the day goes on?
  5. what about raw eggs ?? done in an egg nog??
  6. this is so exciting and well worth your posting. everyone of these items you mentioned here im identifying with to the hilt. lol.. way to go... im thrilled for you. Do you have any tips or lessons you learned along the way this first year?? could you share with us please?
  7. so you are having more than just clear liquids? was there any fill put into your band when you had it put in?
  8. im pleased to read that its not impossible to have a few... providing its done with common sense, that is. However, i dont think i will be having any more red wine. it has been giving me problems with my hernia, or what i asume is a hernia. it could also be some gastritis.. not sure.. but red wine does it to me, as much as i enjoy a glass of red.
  9. have you ever thought of buying a powder, for example, barley green, which is in powder form, and you mix with water?? ive got a new jar of it here now. im going to start with it tomorrow and just keep it up. its got heaps of nutritional value, and its all organic. if you can tolerate the taste, i think its the best way to go. Certainly easier to digest, thats for sure. ( it smells and tastes like green barley ) just a thought here as well. you can spinkle it onto your salads as well... its very versatile.
  10. what a marvellous job he has done.. was it hard for him?/ like you, im sick of the see sawing involved with weight loss and weight gain. its really demoralising
  11. ...and im really glad that this question was asked as well.. it sounds like pasta and rice are a no no. im not a big lover of either of them. no sweat.
  12. what a wonderful success story, and thanks for being so honest about it all. congratulations to you, youve earned it. thats what i call using the band as a true ''tool'' of weight loss. im sure you will keep if off now. it was a hard row to hoe by the sounds of it.
  13. i havent been banded yet but it seems to me that you are having way too much right now?? arent you supposed to be on just liquids?? what did your dr say to you about immediate post op?? AS much as your family loves you and cares for you , they dont know how to give you the best advice, unless they are telling you to just stick to the liquids for now.. ( did you dr tell you that you could have semi solids already?) if it were me i would be doing some research online here with the forum. i would be writing it down and if its in line with what your dr told you , stick with it. never mind what the others are telling you to do. Its a huge change that you are going through, i understand the enormity of it all. ive yet to go where you are ... and i may have some issues as well. What ive done is keep a journel.. covering every aspect of the surgery and adding recipes as well for the different stages of recovery. This is all from learning online. Ive still got to talk with my dietician. If you are still confused about it, what about ringing your dietician?? she can help you.
  14. ohh.. wow. thats fantastic. it really is. way to go.

.. at least you can get liquids in. how scary. im not having any filler at all when the band is inserted apparantly. i did ask the dr about that. i think i do prefer that. i reckon there will be enough swelling without any fill for a while. i hope that your problem eases very quickly.
  16. just a comment here... and im aware that im not banded yet.. but, has stress got anything to do with the tightness you are feeling i wonder?? i know that air travel, stress, illness can tighten the band. i agree.. you must keep yourself hydrated. how about gatorade when you arent having much else? ive never tried it though, does it have sugar in it?/
  17. yes, i agree with this post.. and all the best from me as well. let us know how you get on with it all.
  18. i agree with this. perhaps if you insist on talking with your dr??

do you think it was the chili?? thats not good. it doesnt seem long enough since surgery though to be having spices i would imagine. what do you think? i know with all my surgeries the most intense healing period is the following six weeks. perhaps to leave the spices for about three months?/ Have they established that you definately have dilation of the esophagus?? is that going to be a big problem for you?? i hope that its not.
  20. ..and im so glad that i found this forum as well. the idea of keeping a diary is an excellant one actually.
  21. ..thats just so marvellous... you have done so well. im really looking foward to the day when i can say the same. What a wonderful birthday present to give yourself. congratulations.

thats great news.. i hear you about coffee.. i slowed down heaps to what i used to have. i do have more decaf now of course. so you think that the caffeinated coffee was aggravating your hernia?/ it probably is with mine as well. im in the process of giving up the caffeine now.. so far so good. as long as i can have one a day. lol. im looking forward to having cayenne.. thats really good for healthy bowels. i have been having it in foods now for a long time. i didnt want to give it up at all.
  23. this sounds really good and im going to write it down for myself. i make my own hommus. i buy tahini, which is pureed sesame seeds, blend it in with chick peas, garlic, a very small amount of apple cider vinegar, a squeeze of lemon juice and a little soy sauce. plus salt and pepper. you can put cayenne in it as well. its a wonderful recipe and far better than the one you buy. you can add Water and make it as runny as you need it to be. i use it all the time, have used it for a dip with raw veges, and for other things as well.
  24. thats my advice too.... if you arent too hungry just on liquids or mushies, keep that up until later in the day.
  25. this sounds great. ive written it all down for use later on when im done. has anyone done mushy food using chick peas as part of the Protein? im wondering how they would be if they were blended down pretty well first. any one tried them?/ i think i prefer them to tuna actually. i could use other fish though.
