Probably Common Sense...but My 1St Fill Experience
thank you so much for your post. sharing some of these issues has been a real eye opener for me as well. i see myself in what you are saying, even though im only just post banded. Nevertheless, this last 10 days has forced me to re evaluate how i perceive myself , what weaknesses im going to have to confront, and how to adapt with a new mind set. after all, there really is no going back. who in their right mind would want to have this surgery to just continue on the same old lifestyle?? Im going to have to deal with lack of self worth simply because i was so overweight. im also going to be careful how i deal with compliments. ive had a lot , just in the last few days. i dont want to place all my self confidence on how i look either. there is way more to me than that. i am grateful now that i have a support system in place, within my body, that is there to help me all the time. Im heeding the traps that you fell into. thanks for sharing that. im going to remember these. forewarned is forearmed they say. lol. .. well, its true. Im so glad that you have a supportive family with you in all this. its so important. i have my husband supporting me.. well, as much as he knows how to. lol. He is trying , thats for sure. i see my specialist today. you have just reminded me how important it is to start off being completely honest about my eating behaviour, right from the beginning. this is my first visit. bless you Jen75 judy

Head Hunger Vs. Real Hunger
Amo32112..... more protein?? maybe just a little more vege perhaps to your Soups??i was desperately hungry for three days, im 9 days out, but im not hungry anymore. i found that the more flavour i put into my soups (not necessarily more bulk ) the more i was satisfied. i dont have a sweet tooth but crave savoury. interesting how the extra taste took care of my hunger. i dont feel im missing out anymore.

Need Your Advice To Figure This Out...
mandagay.... would you believe im 9 days out and im not feeling hungry anymore?? im having broths with potato, things like that, still very runny. i was getting a funny sort of pain in my stomach before, i guess it was shrinking but no more... im so grateful for that , i didnt know what to do to fix it. lol. im cooking hot meals for hubby and he is eating really well. tonight it was chicken curry.. there was one swift second where i would have liked to have a little piece of cooked chicken to chew on ... but it soon passed. thank goodness for that. lol.

larch... i agree... you are never too old to want to feel sexy for your man, take it from me. i would much rather have some faint small scars on my belly than have mountains of belly rolls and bad health to boot. amen to that.

Probably Common Sense...but My 1St Fill Experience
just reading this and it makes sense. i certainly dont want to get caught out with my fills, mainly because i live so far away from the dr. so, as im travelling nearly two hours, perhaps if i took water with me and had a big drink just before going in ?? what do you think??

Second Thoughts
this is so right. as for me?? i was not only overweight but unhealthy looking, pudgy in the face, swollen feet and legs. now, after just one week, my face is transforming rapidly back to its proper shape. ive had lots of comments from people since friday when i went out. this morning again, heaps of comments on how much better i look, how good i look. even my hubbie as commented. so... hang in there everyone, you can do it, and whats more, you will.

Feeling High..
..just a top up here as im thinking. i dont reckon im getting a higher amount of protein than carbs somehow. im having three protein shakes a day, the rest of the time im having soups. mind you they are broth either from beef or chicken. do you think its enough protein?? any input for me please? what do you advise?? my dr hsnt really made any special reference to the balance between protein and carbs at all. not yet. im post op 9 days now

mandagay.. hang in there.. you are going through a real down period and it wont last. just try and concentrate on all the positives. Talking about putting things down on paper... why dont you do two sections on paper and write down all the positives that will be happening for you.. against the negatives?? give yourself time to really be honest about it all. im sure that the positives will well and truly win out for you.im already having such a tremendous relief from pain and swelling in my feet and lower legs and the same huge benefits and more besides are coming to you as well. Try and look at the positives. i understand how down you must feel. sometimes this does happen, being down and depressed after any surgery, ive been there and dont it many times before so i know.(about 20 surgeries since i was 15 ) what you have had done is potentially life changing and for the better... so try and look on the brighter side. bless you. this should be reply to Dellaland... sorry about that.

Still Swollen..
its great for you both. you can share everything and talk it all out together. its harder trying to explain to a spouse who hasnt been there and done that, even though they are sympathetic. good on you both. yes, i agree, this forum has made things so much easier for me as well. its a blessing.

Just A Question
now thats a good tip. i must buy some for myself. i was wondering what else to try when i craved bread. it was hard trying to come to terms with the fact that i couldnt eat any breads at all. this is worth a try when im ready.

Help! Wavering With Hypoglycemia Six Days Postop
how awful to have to go through this. im sure that you are right and its hypoglycaemia. i remember on high protein, low carb diets years ago i was the same. i was banded just over a week ago and ive had milk with my Protein shakes...starting from day two im glad i did. are you having greek yoghurt as well? i find that making a skim milk, greek yoghurt with protein vanilla and decaf coffee makes a great drink. i reckon you would have already been down this road before and know about it?? im sure its helped me though, having yoghurt from the second day with skim milk. i would have been suffering the same way as well.
