  1. raleigh nc here wish i was closer
  2. hub went to dr to refill his meds and he got weighed and he now weighs MORE than me how sweet is that?
  3. well, you have your to do list....that is your job now. go about getting it done (and not worry about road blocks that could or couldnt happen)....the sooner you get your items completed, the sooner it can be submitted to your insurance for approval...wishing you all the luck in the world.
  4. i agree with dawg and karen and their posts if you can drink/eat, that is a problem....def call your dr and make an appt the band is not suppose to be sooooo tight you cant eat or drink..that can be dangerous if you get dehydrated....and to me, doesnt seem like a whole lotta fun.. and to lose weight you must take in less calories than you burn off...but if you are eating well and losing inches, then you are losing weight....hang in there okay.
  5. nope, i dont think you can feel the lap band that is stitched to your stomach inside your body but def feel the port......more so as you lose weight/fat from your stomach..i can see mine now...where when i started, i was like, did i even have a port?? too much fat to feel it......true statement....and one reason it never hurt to sleep on my tummy (fat protected it)
  6. if you are (losing) then you are losing and that is what its all about so what if its 2 to 4 pounds a month.....that is a LOSS...i am so super stoked at that and your drs report.....yippee def up the Protein (to help with the hair etc) i feel that is important but i am not a dr so i cant quote it as a fact.....i told you prior at 3 to 4 months, mine thinned out also and then got back to normal..who knows with the added vit d and the more protein you intake, it just may help... as for the dont judge, please note that no food is off limits..you can eat what you want but in smaller (versions/portions) so dont think its devil food choice..if you wanted wendys, eat it..enjoy it....life is meant to be enjoyed... nothing wrong with food.....that is my opinion... donna, doing so well...now if you would only believe it sweetie..
  7. i was so big at banding that my extra padding prob helped it be easy for me to sleep on my stomach and i am a stomach sleeper....if it twinges, i just adjust...i dont think it would hurt the port itself, you can call and get your dr opinion if you'd like.
  8. i am sorry to read this. i so hope you feel better soon. you are never far from my thoughts. i love ya
  9. sharon, another great post that is correct....i ended my (obese life in june 2012) and began to live again..it was not easy..the pre op was hard....the post op was hard......but if you really want it (and want it bad enough to do what you have to do) you can be whatever you want to be. i choose to be healthy and leave the (fat foods alone)...
  10. steph...you are the sweetest thing too...dont want to leave you out
  11. that is what i had to do... what i did was write a (letter if you will) outlining all my adult life ups/downs with weight and its listed in my records and then my PCD wrote the referral. do you have the med records of all your (history)? sounds like they want a (more detailed version) same with me....so i wrote one myself..used dates/ weights etc... what you think?
  12. aint you just the sweetest thing......
  13. ok, giving up doesnt solve a darn thing so knock it off missy so what are you missing? did they give you a list/examples? if you have an inventory of what you need (medically from your past dr's) please go get it. i had too via my referral letter from my PCD for the insurance. and you still got 28 or 29 days til June 1......it will and can happen but stressing wont help.. so can you call whomever and see what you need today?
  14. well it is major surgery so its gonna hurt...and i know it doesnt seem like it now, but it does get better as the days pass.....def keep walking to help move the gas out.....my shoulder hurt really good until about day 8 and my dr gave me some anti naus meds to have (that i have with me all times) to help conquer that naus feeling......i have had surgeries before and the stuff that put me to sleep made me sick to my stomach and over all feel naus....i told them and they gave me extra meds before/during surgery to help appease that.....anyhow, sip and sip and sip, stay ahead of pain by using your pain meds and def keep walking/moving......in about 6 months, you will be advising newbies just out of surgery the same thing, that it will get better.
  15. yes, i had to do a swallow also at hospital to make sure i was able to swallow before they sent me home...it was so nasty stuff.....i told him i hope the first couple pics took as if i take another swallow it would come back up...it was nasty......seems weird because at my surgeons, the stuff they give me actually tastes like kool aid..
  16. I must be willing to give up what I am in order to become what I will be
  17. hmm, still very early banded....i know my port area was very sore/tender for about a month esp with the scar tissue forming around it...it def gave me a pulling sensation....if you are concerned, call and discuss with your doctor. (did he okay you to exercise so soon after surgery as it was 4/30 by your post)?
  18. yes i have drunk the protein shake w/o milk (and as lee said toss in some ice and with a vitamixer, we got a party)...i couldnt take the muscle milk taste so i have used whey extreme from walmart in chocolate for 10+ months now...i also drink one every day (to help my protein quota and because i like the taste).....and have put in the freezer to make my own slush..just depends on your taste...and what you like or dont like.
  19. yes, that happened to me. during my pre ops, i had to do a sleep test..found out i had mild and had to go back a second time for 2nd test to sleep the cpac...and then about a week later, was fitted with my cpac....and in hospital after surgery, i had to bring it to the surgery and i used it that night.....and i stopped using it at 3 months post op..so use the machine and then soon after, you will have the surgery...just a small wee rock in your path.
  20. i got the lapband because i was fat/lazy and overate huge amounts of fast foods, chips etc...i feel once a person accepts what the problem is, they can fix it. i do not have any fills *just a starting primer at surgery and i have no idea how much* but i do watch my caloric intake and try to eat better foods...and i feel is someone gains (65 pounds after a fill), they overate/drank more calories than their bodies burned off and hence the weight gain...i can say this and its true because i did not get over 300+ by dieting.....that being said, you stated you were a success, excuse me, you still are.... so to lose weight, do what you and everyone who has the band is suppose to do...eat better foods in the allotted amounts (stopping at 20 min mark) and let the band control the quantity..i understand fills help with the controlling the quantity......and because you can eat more then the 1 cup (or whatever your dr recommends) doesnt mean you should...that goes for whether someone has the sleeve or band or ds or bypass..you drink/eat more calories than you burn off and you WILL gain weight. again, BEST of luck to you. hope it truly works out.
  21. everything is able to be eaten. some choices are better than others.. and sometimes you just gotta make due. and skipping meals is crazy..never works huh.. as we all have done that...so eat...if you are really hungry, eat... no food is off limits..so dont fret. maddawg is right, Protein keeps you full.
  22. i personally dont care what (he) thinks.....what do YOU think? the band will help you eat less yes....but you have to change what you eat...if you think you can, you will...
