  1. It's normal, you are excited than scared, you get excited then worried, and you will feel that way after for awhile too. I was the worst baby about it, I would actually tell hubby take it out take it out, I don't care how just take it out, but now I feel so much better look so much better and thats what its all about it the long run.

Use the support that is offered to you, find a buddy that really helps, I found some good friends here that I can talk to and we talk out what we are going through and it does make a difference.

  2. I ran into someone last week that hadn't seen me for awhile and noticed the weight loss, she asked if I had been on a diet or gotten help. I said I got the lapband and she said oh you cheated.. She must of seen the fire in my eyes, because she said oh I know its not cheating.. and I was its not! and just turned around.

Its people like that , that besides wanting to smack em upside the head, that make me want to become a success story ! all of us!

  3. I'm like Cfalbro, wait when did I right this.? It's easy to think this because all our lives we have failed and failed to lose weight the way society dicates we do, and some of us have people in our lives that don't let us forget that we should lose weight and that in itsself is another failure that people can't see us for who we are but look at the weight first.

To make the lapband work, you do need to follow the regime set by dr, at least for the first few months and then afterwards, you can start experimenting foods, to learn what you can and cannot tolerate.

Sweets is a big addiction. Be careful, be honest and let your nutritionist know so they can help with alternatives. I didn't know this , but it was a big eye opener. Last night my hubby spoke to a co-worker who he knew had the lapband and she knew I had mine. She's had her for 3 years, and recently said on Facebook , lapband failure, all I lost was 20 lbs. Well she didn't mention , that she ate candies all the time, drank shakes, sliders as they call them. She even had her 10cc band filled to 9ccs in effort to lose weight and all she could get down were shakes, not the protein kind, but the cool whip on the top kind , with ice cream. And now she is diagnoised with diabetes and with poor leg circulation because of it.

Its not you wanting that stuff its your body. Its not a craving that's gonna be turned off overnight, but its one you have to learn to control. I'm the biggest whiner/baby because I can't eat something anymore, But if I look at the scale my body is following along, its my mind that is kicking and screaming. And I do indulge myself in a bite of pasta here or bread there, but I've gotten to where that's enough.

You will be ok, we are rocks in all areas, but sometimes we don't see it because we have been told we were.

    I wish you the best!

  4. I tell my hubby if only I could take big bites, I don't care what I have to eat, thats something I mourn, I tried to eat a tuna sandwich no bread today and ended up eating most all of it. and I never have done that. I think I was looking for that elusive mayonaise high I used to get, so I kept eating. but I never found it. Tomorrow its gonna be light/soups as now my throat hurts. We don't realize what we mourn, until we are facing it, and the timing will be different for everyone. I'm like you Mags, I love salad with lots of salad dressing, croutons, onions,,, mmm well you get the picture, nibbling on that fresh bread... my whole family knows that I have lapband and so when we go out and eat, it is no longer buffets, but a place where I can order houderves or childs plates. I can do this, we can do this, it isn't just for a little while its for the rest of our lives.... I agree best of luck to all of us!

  5. My anesthesiologist gave me a cocktail too, said it would make me giggly and loopy, no sooner she put it in my iv I was out. She told hubby its not supoosed to do that.

I dry heave most every morning (from both ends hubby says) but I told him, I'd rather get them out (over the sink) then have to deal with them during day.

Rest rest rest, girl, I'm 6 weeks out and I still take naps when possible. As hubby says, this was an assault on your body let it heal. Follow your hubby's directions and things should be good!

  6. People don't know what's going on in our minds, sometimes even we don't all we know is life isn't supposed to be that way. I went to another office Friday where I hadn't gone for a couple weeks, so no one had seen me since i had lapband done. I had that supervisor tell me that I looked good, was I dieting. I told her that I had gotten lapband and she said oh you cheated, she must of seen look on my face because she quickly said, oh I know its not cheating, but that you went that way. I said there is no cheating, the lapband doesn't let you and its not easy. I pretty must turned and left. i decided not to let it linger , but seriously? Good for you, we are watching out for us, at the end of the day its us.

  7. our work does breakfast Fridays from a nearby mexican restaurant, I ordered a burrito with eggs, beans potatos, and I went wild and got cheese. I cut little less than a 1/3 and refoiled the rest, and I was good, didn't eat tortilla. I started watching what I ate by watching others in the office . That made me more concious about my health. No more morning danishes, or donuts (if your name is in the paper) pizza parties, I will grab one slice (eat toppings) don't want to offend the honoree. and so far have been good. I feel bad because I have a coworker much younger than me, who has watched me go through my health issues and now Im losing weight, but she continues to eat non-stop. I used to tell her watch your health, watch your health, but I think it upset her and I just stopped. So I sit at my desk with a Crystal Lite on my desk and she sits at hers with a little pile of danish, candy or starbucks (everyday). each to their own.

I miss my buffalo wing sauce, I was just getting the taste for it. I'm sure well all find our niches, what works for one won't work for another. I had bbq sauce with chicken other night. Hubby had watered it down, so I could get flavor, mmmm.

  8. I think about this too, hubby thinks its a bit morbid, but when we die, and have gone to dust, all thats left is our lapband? or does the mortician pull it out? I mean there is just no information on that kind of thing.. anyways, you are on the right road and it sounds like your family will be a big help and supportive, good luck..

  9. when you go out have waitress go ahead and box of half your meal so you are not tempted to go crazy, or order off the kids meal. I know I've gone out and people think Im sick because I don't eat like I used to (thats sad) but I'm doing it for me and my family. You can still have fun, enjoying your friends company...

  10. OMG, that's terrible. but before you start busting heads, did you use your work's insurance? maybe the rumor came down to office heads and one of supervisors let it slip? You have to go to work, don't let them get the best of you. And tell them, I was caught off guard yesterday yes I got lapband but I want to keep that information private. and I didn't appreciate someone flapping their F&*^$$& lips.

especially in a medical office. condfidentiality is number 1 rule and they broke it. I would have been sooo hot. Why doesn't hubby know?

I know its soo easy for someone else to say something so easy, but we are hear to support you. (I would have wanted to wipe that smirk off that girls face!)

  11. I was just saying the same thing, I feel a bubble of excitement starting. Im actually loosing weight, starting to use small plates, baby spoons so what, but if it works for me, then I will use.

I bought stuff ahead of time to have , and I think by the time I go look those clothes will be to big, I hope I left the tags on!

    Rock on !
