Hi all! I have a fill appt today- I am also pondering asking him about an appetite suppressant. I'm just always hungry! I think a teeny smidge may do the trick- I'm pretty tight, but can eat bigger bites and bigger portions. We'll see. WIth my insurance change my first fill may be more $$ but we'll see. Sigh.
I need my head in the game again. I need another aha moment.

Well, one good thing about an unfill (or the least bad thing) is that it makes you appreciate how much your band was doing for you before the unfill.

I can't see how you can blame a product (i.e. evil contraption) when it sounds like it was medical malpractice on your doctor's part. You can have a IUD put in wrong or any product and if the doctor makes error, you can't blame the product.
P.S. If you really did your research like you said, um.... you would have known that the lapband doesn't work with liquids. lol That's pretty basic stuff that you didn't know from your research. (Your quote "Third major problem: (was not told this ahead of time either) weight gain is guaranteed if you DRINK liquids with your meals")

ready for my journey to be reacted to Melissa McCreery in What To Do Instead Of Overeating When You?Re Tired And You Want A Treat
Many women find themselves using food as a treat, or resorting to stress eating or comfort eating at the end of a long difficult day. Try out these new strategies:

If you are an emotional eater or someone prone to overeating, you know well that it’s one thing to decide to change your eating habits—to cut back your portions, stop snacking in the evening, or to stop turning to food at the end of a long day. It’s another thing entirely to act on your intentions and not overeat when you find yourself in the situation where that’s all you want to do.

Many women find themselves using food as a treat, or resorting to stress eating or comfort eating at the end of a long difficult day. In fact, for most people, this is the time when good intentions unravel.

Why? Well, you’re tired, your defenses are pretty low, and you likely don’t have a lot of energy or creativity to conjure up an alternative to that big bowl of popcorn or ice cream or the leftovers that are calling to you from the refrigerator.

Relying on willpower alone is a recipe for self-sabotage and frustration. Plus, it’s not very fun. If evening is a tough time for you food-wise, I recommend you take some time NOW to sketch out a list of things you can do instead of eating.

Here’s an important tip: this list should not be a to-do list of projects you’ve been neglecting in disguise. If you’re turning to food for comfort or to help you relax, the alternatives you come up with should have a similar effect and they should take into account your low energy level (i.e. your exhaustion).

Make a list now and start trying out these new strategies. Expect to tweak and revise it as you learn what works and what doesn’t.

Here are some ideas of what to do instead of overeating in the evenings to get you started:
    Take a bath
Soak your feet (really—this feels great)
    Blow bubbles
    Brew a cup of tea
    Listen to music
    Watch a movie
Sit outside (or if it’s cold, by a fire)
If you have a cat who will let you, pet him/her and be one with the purr
Curl up with a good book
Update your Netflix list or put some new books on hold at the library
Buy yourself some new music for your mp3 player
    Call a friend
Play Scrabble or chess or even solitaire online. Better yet, get your family to play a game—live and in person
    Catch up on magazines
    Do a crossword puzzle
Work on your birthday wish list (no matter how far away your birthday is)
    Listen to a relaxation CD

I’d love to hear what you’ve found as an alternative to eating when you are tired and want to overeat.

I had a <final for now> fill last Monday (10cc in 11cc band) and have been doing so good this past week, decreased calories even more, increased physical activity even more, did lots of sweaty home projects this weekend and..... I lost 6 lbs since last Monday - holy cow! I have been teetering on 219 for literally the last several weeks and have only averaged losing 1 lb. per week since surgery, then BAM, 6 lbs. in one week! If only every week were that great with instant satisfaction. I am just praying that it stays off - hate the pound fluctuations on this journey. I think I can honestly say that I will never be in the 220's ever again though! Praying that I can hold on to 213 and lower going forward! Thank God I think I found my sweet spot, finally.
On another note, my Daddy took me to dinner Sunday night and he doesn't know I had surgery. I guess I lost my mind for a minute, because I took a small bite of garlic bread, forgetting that I am now at 10cc's in my band and holy moley, I got to finally experience what a BAD stuck episode felt like. I tried to disguise it while clenching my fists under the table as I sat there with a smile on my face and unbelievable pain in my chest. I got up and said I had to use the restroom. Lord have mercy - it felt like it took forever for that stuck feeling to subside. I was so thankful to be reminded that I cannot do that again! It's nice to feel my fill though!~

Do NOT get discouraged. Everyone loses differently. My weight loss did not pick up until my band was over half full and that was six months after surgery. I was losing a pound or two a month and now I'm losing a pound or two a week. Push...follow your plan, good things are coming your way.
Remember, Protein first, solid foods, Water and exercise. Oh yeah, B.E.L.I.E.V.E in youself!

So, I've been getting stuck quite a bit lately. I have an Upper GI scheduled for next week and am probably going to have a tiny bit of fill removed after that. I urped my lunch yesterday. When I got home from work I found a newly invented "Lap Band Assistive Device" from my DH.
See attached photo! It is labeled "DJ Lap Band Assist Device" ---DJ is me. What a goof he is!

I chose NOT to tell anyone. It's no body else's business. I have struggled with weight by myself so I will struggle with losing it by myself. My DH knows, 1 friend, and people in my support group and that's it.
I wouldn't tell another fat person that I had the surgery because I wouldn't want them to make a decision based on what I did or what worked for me. It's a heavy burden to bear if they don't have the same results and get upset or what have you. I did research on my own, I read this board, I talked to my doctor. If another fat person had suggested it to me, I probably wouldn't have listened to them while making the decision. that's just me though, everyone has to do what is right for them.

Hi Ready- anytime! That's what we're here for, LOL. I feel for you with your dad being sick, that must be so hard. Even if you can eat like you used to, still try not to- this is the time before fills and restrictions that we have to "white-knuckle" it and just commit to losing weight the old fashioned way. How do you like the Zumba for the Wii? I have that, but haven't tried it. I love Zumba at the Y, but haven't been in awhile, I've been doing the elliptical at home. I should break it out and give it a whirl!
