  5. Think of it this way: Your hair will come back but your weight won't! Now that's worth it. Hang in there! I love this attitude. I am going to start saying this to myself every time I clean up my hair that comes out when I brush it! Living the dream, Laura
  6. I am in the 180's too and I can't wait to get out! Been here for 3 weeks already. I haven't got a reward out there for myself like your designer jeans...I will have to think on that! Since I got divorced and then married a wonderful man, had my sleeve and am enjoying my life...I can't think of something I lack.... Now that's a reward in itself! Living the dream, Laura
  7. My weight loss has slowed substantially and am thinking it is the sugarfree popsicles I love. They are giving me too many carbs I guess. So I have been looking at different protein bars and they all have carbs but some web sites say you can subtract the fiber because...I don't understand why. Do you subtract the fiber carbs and just count what's left in your 30ish carbs per day? Can someone PLEASE help me understand this and give me some advice on how to work this part of my sleeve so that my weight will continue to drop. I am really needing some HELP here... Frustrated and pleading for advice... Laura p.s....totally unrelated...how do I get my profile picture to display when I post things??
  8. Thanks Amanda. I guess I stopped looking at the big picture and just saw the little one. Appreciate the encouragement...ALOT!!
  9. Have you tried the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth Protein powder? It is not sweet and tastes just like chicken broth. I find it is a great alternative to sweet Protein drinks. Cheers, Laura
  10. For the last two weeks I have lost about 1.5 pounds each week. Is this considered a stall? I will admit that my exercise has been down and my carbs have been up. My water and protein intake are still good. Is it just my body punishing me for the lowered exercise and raised carbs or will I have a nice drop someday. I am getting a bit frustrated.... Thank you my sleeved and almost sleeved friends! Laura
  11. This is what my Dr. told me when I was first sleeved. Staying hydrated is of utmost importance at this stage. Living the dream, Laura
  12. WOW! When I was able to start mushies, I couldn't even get down a whole poached egg! How far out from surgery were you guys when you could get down a half cup at one sitting? I am 9 weeks out from surgery and I cannot eat that much at one sitting. Living the dream, Laura
  13. It is my understanding that liquids go through the sleeve fairly quickly so you can drink more than 4 oz at a time. Food stays in the sleeve longer and so if your doc says 4 oz...you better stick to 4 oz. Your sleeve will let you know if you have 1 bite too many. When I was 2 weeks out I was on liquids anyway and I drank all I wanted (could stand!) to make sure I got the protein and fluids in. Living the dream!, Laura
  14. Had a wonderful time at a street fair yesterday but didn't get in hardly any protein all day. Was low on water too. Today I feel like my brain is in jello. I feel very dopey and slow. Could this be from the lack of protein and lowered fluids yesterday? Please let me know... Thanks! Laura
  15. I don't have any word of wisdom for you but I do want to empathize with you. Sounds like you have had a bit more than your share of troubles. I hope all gets straightened out soon. HUGS, Laura
  16. Thank you everyone...I too appreciate the freedom of not being tethered to the ladies room. Have a wonderful 4th of July! Laura
  17. I hope this isn't TMI but I am concerned about it...I used to be the typical lady who had to use the restroom quite frequently. Since my surgery, I noticed that my bladder has been like cast iron. I only void 2 or 3 times a day. I am getting in at least 40 to 60 oz of water and other fluids every day. Sometimes I feel thirsty and sometimes not. I have had kidney infections in the past and they never could figure out why. I don't want to hurt my self but am actually enjoying not having to take all those bathroom breaks. Any thoughts?? Thank you so much!!, Laura
  18. From what I have read here...this is normal and you are definitely going to be okay. I am almost 9 weeks out and I hit that rotten stall right on time. Nothing for two weeks! Then it started to move again. I have read here that alot of folks watch their carbs (>30 per day) Some folks may say you are not eating enough calories and your body is fighting you. Everyone is different. I have had the grumpy blues recently and didn't realize that that is also a "side effect" of the sleeve. All the negative stuff that we are dealing with at the beginning will get better in time. You just had major surgery and shocked your body into the next universe. Give it some time to recover. You will do fine. I am so happy that your pants are looser! During the first week, I lost so much weight really fast...like 9 pounds in 1 week. I was thinking that this would be a breeze and the weight would continue to come off like that. WRONG! I lose anywhere from 5 pounds to no pounds each week. I only weigh once a week. Fluctuations make me crazy. And when the scale doesn't budge, my clothes seem to be a bit more comfy than they were. It is going to happen...just give yourself and your new tummy some time to adjust... Lots of hugs! Laura
  19. HOORAY!!! So happy for you! You are doing great! Laura
  20. I am usually a fairly happy, easy to get along with person. I am 8 weeks out and driving my husband NUTS! He can't do anything right. I always seem to be irritated with him. I know this is common. I am just wondering how long it lasts. Will our relationship outlast it??? UGH!
  21. Right on!! I am so happy for you! I made it to Onderland recently and it is a great place to be. Keep up the good work!
  22. 60 lbs in 5 months!!?? You are AMAZING!!! Maybe they don't comment because they are afraid to admit that it was a good idea for you..... You are doing great! Hooray for you!
  23. I was told no straw and found that I did in fact take in more air with the straw. I think it can be a matter of what works best for you. I gave up the straw for comfort reasons. Laura
  24. Hey...yesterday was my 8 week surgiversary! I feel great and love that my pants are too big! Keep up the good work! We WILL be successful! Living the dream, Laura
