SOOOO Moody........
I totally get this. In class yesterday, my instructor took me aside and asked me if everything was okay? She said I had seemed really angry the last few weeks. I was floored! I asked two of my classmates who are also my friends, if they had noticed this as well. They both agreed. Floored again. And hubby concurred with them when I asked him later. What a relief to read that this is normal after surgery. I am 8 weeks out and doing fine with the eating plan and exercise and all. I didn't even realize that I was looking/acting grumpy. Looking forward to this clearing up! Laura

Complicatons?
I would definitely do it again. WIsh I had done it sooner. All the pain and fatigue and jaundice I suffered was totally worth it. I had my sleeve and then 6 days later was in the ER for pain and major jaundice. Then 3 days later I was back in the hosp. to have the gall bladder popped out. 2 major surgeries in less than 2 weeks was pretty hard on my body and my mind but it was all temporary. I feel great now and am so happy to be in control of what and how much I eat. Well, my tiny tummy is actually in control. It tells me when to stop and if I don't listen to it...I wish I had! Only overate once in 7 weeks. Once was enough!! So an unqualified YES...I would do it again! Laura

Protein Bars anyone???
Does anyone use protein bars? I ate these before surgery and am wondering if they are acceptable in ya"ll opinion. I am getting the majority of my protein from protein drinks as I just cannot eat enough actual food to get in enough. I was thinking that maybe the Think Thin bars in very small pieces could be mushed in my mouth enough to not cause a problem. I am sure I couldn't eat one in a single sitting but maybe thru the whole day... Thanks, Laura

Drinking after meals...can I??
I never feel hungry...ever. Occasionally I feel "empty" in my upper abdomen and I guess that is what others call "hunger". It's not nearly so bad as the old hunger pains I would feel on the rare occasion that I stopped eating long enough to actually get hungry! I am grateful for the advice and comments you all left me. Thanks!!!

Drinking after meals...can I??
I was sleeved 6 weeks ago. I had heard when I was considering bypass surgery that you cannot drink for 1/2 hour after you eat. Is this true for sleevers? After I eat, I always want a sip or two of water to "wash it all down". I usually take them but I feel guilty. If we cannot drink for 30 mins after eating, can someone please explain to me why?? Thanks so much! Laura in Onderland

Laura in Onederland!!!
Hooray! Celebrate with me! I finally fell through the rabbit hole and got past my almost 3 week stall. I am now officially in ONEDERLAND!!!! I am so happy. I know there will be more challenges and more stalls and more hard work ahead but right now I am doing the happy dance! I wonder how many calories that burns! Laura

How supportive is/was your spouse
"Is it possible that part of the reason this hurts you so much is because you otherwise don't feel very cherished and supported by your husband on your journey?" I would like to add that I think this is a very important possibility. If you are feeling like your hubby is your adversary instead of the president of your fan club, then that could easily spill over into resentment due to his normal eating behavior. If that is the case, I am so sorry. Yet I hope you can find others who will cheer for you and encourage you in the way that you need it right now. This is a journey to be sure and while we have tons of love and encouragement from our fellow sleevers here...sometimes we have to reach deep down with in ourselves and pat ourselves on the back for the huge positive decision we have made for ourselves. At the end of the day, we are stronger because we have made this decision. We have taken our health, happiness and longevity into our own hands and made a positive step for our selves and our future. All the best to us all!! Laura

Sleeved 6/1/2011
Congratulations on your weight loss! You are doing great in my opinion. I am 5.5 weeks out and lost 19 lbs. since surgery. It has been 2 weeks since the scale has moved but my clothes are hanging off me. Everyone is different and I think (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that the more weight you have to lose, the faster it comes off at first. Just keep following your plan and you will do great! Laura p.s. I had to stop weighing myself every day because it was making me discouraged. I asked Hubby to hide the scale for me and give it back once a week so I can weigh. I get a little obsessive about what the scale says.

How supportive is/was your spouse
My hubby is very supportive and right after surgery he would ask if I minded if he ate in front of me. I thought this was very sweet but not necessary. I am the one with the weight issue, not him. I am the one who needed the surgery because I couldn't control my issue, not him. I don't want to be harsh here but I don't think it is right to make him suffer (his stomach is normal sized) with little or no eating in my presence just because I got sleeved. I encourage him to eat what ever he wants when I am around. We went to a great burger joint and he asked if it would bother me if he ate the burger in the car. I was very happy to have him do so as the smell was wonderful. I totally enjoyed the aroma and didn't feel I was being cheated at all. I think that we as sleevers made this decision to have surgery for our health and well being. I do not think it is fair or right to put the weight of that onto our loved ones. Instead of focusing on what we cannot have (large amounts of tasty food) focus on what we can have like smaller waistlines, better health , less medications, more energy and longer, happier lives. I apologize in advance if I am stepping on toes but I really feel it is unfair to our loved ones to make them feel bad for doing what they have always done. We are the ones who have changed and we did it on purpose. Lovingly, Laura

Thankyou Mr. Tape Measure
On the scale issue, I had to ask my hubby to hide it from me and just take it out on Saturday mornings. I just couldn't stay off of it in the mornings and if I had gone up even a tenth of a pound...it ruined my day! I never did measure but I can tell by the way my clothes fit me that I have lost inches. Keep up the great work everyone!!

Am I blowing my chances???
Hi all, I was sleeved 5 weeks ago(tomorrow). I have lost 19 lbs since surgery. I am hoping I am in the dreaded 3 week stall (for 2 weeks) and not messing up my chances of losing this weight. I have been getting the majority of my protein from protein drinks still and eating very small amounts of soft protein sources. I also have been eating ALOT of popsicles. Both sugarfree and regular. I didn't realize that the popsicles had 8 carbs each until I looked today. Would having my carb intake too high be causing me not to lose? I am getting in between 50 and 60 oz of water and 70+ grams of protein almost every day. I am starting to worry that my beloved popsicles are messing me up. Any words of wisdom would be so greatly appreciated. I started on myfitnesspal.com today as some other gals in my class are doing the same. I kept my calories just below 500 and my carbs were 22. I try to exercise every day but this past week has been pretty spotty. Usually I swim a mile. I am getting scared...is all this surgery and recovery going to be worth it?? I had the sleeve and then 9 days later I had to have my gallbladder out so it has been a slow recovery. I still don't have all my energy back but it is getting better. Thank you all for the encouragement, wisdom and help!!! We newbies REALLY appreciate it!

HELP...I don't know when to eat!
Hi all, I am 3 weeks and 4 days out from my surgery. I have been lurking around on this forum for a while but now I have a question I would really like help with. When do you eat? I find that I am still sipping my liquids (protein drinks and water) all day long to get in enough fluids and Protein. I am allowed pureed foods now (altho I eat soft foods and chew them really really well). I am thinking that I shouldn't really be constantly putting this stream of fluids into my new tum tum but if I don't , I can never get in enough. My average is 50 oz Water and 70 gr protein right now all from drinks. I am getting in a spoonful or so of salmon salad 2x per day and about 1/4 of a poached egg. I eat maybe 3 or 4 SF popsicles daily too. I read somewhere that you should eat (chew food) every 3 hours. Does that sound right? Is it that important? Maybe I am expecting too much too soon. I certainly found out what my new sleeve feels like when I eat too fast! UGH! One wonderful thing I want to share...I am a stomach sleeper and last night I was able to sleep on my belly for the first time! OH JOY!! Thank you all for this wonderful forum. It is so helpful to me. Now if I can just figure out how to put a weight loss ticker on here...I will be golden! LAURA p.s I am down 34 lbs since I first began this journey last year! YIPPEE!
