  4. Hey Shakey88! Remember me? Remember how I told you that you were my inspiration? Well I just got on this site and for some reason I felt like looking you up to see how your weight loss was going and I saw this. I know we all have those annoying little downs and disappointments, but I wanted to remind you that you've lost 95.3 lbs in less than 6 months!!! Hang in there! You are light years ahead of a lot of other people, so don't let a measly .4 lbs get you down. You're still my inspiration and every time I want to get off the treadmill a few minutes early, I think of how I could be 95 lbs less by June if I keep going. Keep your head up Lots of Love!
  5. Hi!! I drink Protein shakes for breakfast every morning and I was getting sick of chocolate. I just found this Protein Powder called nectar and it is really delicious. They have crazy flavors. I started off by buying the variety pack - here'a link to an article i wrote about it on my blog - http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2012/01/special-delivery.html. I had the strawberry mousse today. It was awesome. (BTW nobody is paying me to write about them ... haha maybe one day... but it's all my own real opinions) I have been writing a lot lately about different Protein drinks so check that out as well. My husband and I are almost 3 weeks post op and he's lost 36 lbs and I've lost 27! We're so happy with the surgery!
  6. Hey guys! I'm sending my prayers your way for fast and safe surgeries! Of course everyone is different, but my husband I were banded less than 3 weeks ago. We've been up and walking since after the surgery. Slow around the house at first, but since a week out, I've been trying to walk a mile or two .. or three a day. So far, my husband has lost 36 lbs and I have lost 27!!!!! The biggest tip i can give you is no matter what, get your Protein in. Even if you get a little more get it in! At the two week mark we've been moved onto the soft foods so we've been eating chicken, tuna fish, slow cooker pork, baked fish, we had bison burgers (no bun) tonight. Greek yogurt is also great. You'll be able to eat good, you will just eat a lot less! Best of Luck!!
  7. Hey Y'all! I just saw Chick Fil A featured on the news because they are offering healthier kids meal options and they seem to be perfect for bandsters. I just wrote about a blog about it ... so rather than retyping it all again... here's the link: http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2012/01/fast-foods-for-bandsters.html
  8. jdunn- have any of those people that tell you not do it lost over 100lbs? Don't let people get you down. My husband and I were banded 2 weeks ago and we both are thrilled with our results thus far. It's a complete life change. If this is what you want, no one else's opinion matters.
  9. Hi Charity! I am not actually pregnant. I was just banded 2 weeks ago, but one of the main reasons that I wanted to undergo the surgery was to get rid of PCOS and get pregnant. If you don't mind I'd just like to follow along and hear what members have to say once the group gets going! Donna
  10. Hi Lisa, My husband and I were banded on 12/19 and I am blogging all of our diet information, recipes, tips. 11. Lluna!!! That is so inspirational to me!!! You guys are doing awesome!!! When were you banded and how much have you lost?
  12. Hey Guys! I was banded on 12/19 - I love this site and love hearing everyone's tips <3 Here's to getting skinny & healthy!!!
  13. Thanks ladies!! We are definitely waiting a year or longer. Our surgeon said to wait at least a year. He explained it's not the end of the world if I were to get pregnant this year, but I would automatically be a high risk pregnancy because there is so much going on. I'm totally ok with waiting. I'm not in a rush, I just wanted to hear some good success stories for inspiration.
  14. I have PCOS and it is one of the biggest reasons I decided to move forward with lap band surgery. My husband and I would like to start trying about a year from now (we were both banded on 12/19) If you've experienced getting pregnant after a band, what was your experience like? Did you still have a lot of fertility problems? I'm just curious for any information. I really appreciate it!
  15. I posted another recipe today for delicious mexican mushies! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2011/12/mushies-mexican-mush.html
  16. Thanks everyone!! This forum has been so helpful to us. We have a long way to go but we might as well celebrate along the way
  17. Just wanted to Celebrate with our fellow bandsters! My husband and I were banded 10 days ago and he has lost a little over 27 lbs and I've lost 21! YAYYY!!!
  18. Hi!! check out my blog. I'm in the mushies stage right now as well and I'm blogging every recipe that I come up with! I have a recipes tab you can click on www.happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com
  19. I didn't have any co morbitities, but my husband had 2. I think my BMI was 48 or something like that. I was approved first and the insurance company gave him all kinds of grief. But he was finally approved and we had surgery on the same day. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I feel like insurance is just a game, whoever reads the file that day makes random decisions with no rhyme or reason.
  20. Hi! I was just banded a little over a week ago and I've been blogging about it, check it out the link is in my signature. I found so many great stories from blogs and really found a lot of inspiration before surgery from others, so I wanted to pay it forward. Feel free to message me I can tell you what My husband and I have done and what has worked and not worked for us!! Best of Luck! I'm so happy with my experience so far
  21. My husband and I did it together too! We were banded on 12/19 he's lost 25 and I've lost 20! Sandybraman - I've only been banded for just over a week. We are the same way. I love to cook and I love to eat, I'm always thinking about it. After being banded giving it up is different. Here are some revelations that I've had this week that might help you - I love to cook, and I still can, I will just cook great healthy meals in smaller portions. I read all these blogs were the women make all of these amazing meals and sweets and they're all skinny. WTF? I can do that. The band is going to give me that control. - Before the band I ate whatever i wanted whenever i wanted all the time. Now, There's only so much room. If I over eat, I run the risk of hurting myself and possibly having to get the band off, or go on a super strict liquid diet. If I don't eat enough Protein, I could lose my hair. My husband and I were talking about what it will be like going to restaurants in the future and I said, honestly it's the same. Pre-band we went to a restaurant and scarfed down entire meals in 10 or 15 minutes. Well now when we go to a restaurant we'll eat slower and less. So what difference does it make? We'll be sitting there eating smaller bites for longer period of time. We'll have more time to talk and enjoy eachother. I hope this helps and I hope you have an easy successful surgery!
  22. Thank you so much for all of the answers. I'm going to find one of those camel bottles. After i posted this I found an ap that alerts me when i need to drink something and I can tap it to track my water. I think it's called Hydrate!
  23. You'll go to an informational session first. Other people will be there, the Surgeon or staff will present the different WLS options, and if they are good (in my opinion) will explain every possible danger as well as the great things that can come of the surgery. After that appointment they will contact the insurance company and get you information on exactly what you will pay out of pocket and they will also let you know what the insurance requires you to do. (You can also contact the insurance company and find out the same stuff) If you are interested in pursuing further, you'll have an appointment with the dr to go over your health. From that point the Doctor will order up a bunch of visits. A Psyche Eval, a Chest xray, blood work, a barium swallow to get pictures of your stomach and esophogus, and any other appointments that are needed based on your health. 2 weeks prior to surgery you'll have a pre-op appointment where you'll get information, your doctor will ask you to go on some sort of pre op diet. I see some people who say they have to go on a liquid diet. We were only told to lose a little weight before the surgery, so we went on the atkins diet for the week. If you don't like the doctor and you want a band you have to get over that, because after banding you'll have to go to appointments for fills. I haven't had a fill yet, but my surgeon is adamant with us about coming in once a month for the first 12 months for the best success. I hope this helps and I hope you find all the answers you need to make your decision!
  24. P.S. My husband wants to know how quickly you started working out after the surgery? (we both got banded on the same day - so you're actually inspiration to both of us!)
