  1. I am feeling some of that uncomfortableness already and I have not yet had my first fill. And the picture is beautiful!!!--Even if we can't see your pretty face...................
  2. Congrats on being banded! (I know that sounds so weird)... but I too find that my new best friend is a blessing. And, after a week and a half---I'm still not hungry.................. I hope it remains a constant....... Many prayers for your continued healing!!!
  3. I know this liquid diet really bites.... but you can do this!!!
  4. I am so excited for you. I was just banded on Dec. 27th, so I am still adjusting to life with the band.--and I'm down 17 lbs already!!! (of course, that is all liquid diet)..... Will be thinking of you tomorrow!!!
  5. Your story sounds very very similar to my own. I was just banded on Dec. 27th, and so I am just adjusting to the band (still on soft foods as well). I finally made the decision because I wanted to grow old...and I wanted to enjoy it. I want to watch my children grow up and have families of their own, and I want to some day bounce my grandchildren on my knee (without it tiring me out-and God willing). At 310 lbs, I knew that wasn't likely to happen. This was a decision that took a LOT of prayer, and a LOT of study. I looked into each option and this was the best for me. My insurance also has a total exclusion, but I found a doctor that had a flat rate for self pay. It turned out that I also had a hiatal hernia that needed repairing before he could place the band. Since my insurance would pay for that part, it took care of the hospital, anesthesiologist, etc.... so the band was the only thing left out of pocket.... I wish you all the best in your decision. Looking to God and toward the Future- Nikki

I was banded on 12/27/11, and I have been burping ALOT since. I thought it was still some of the gas from surgery, but from what you all are saying, this is going to be pretty normal? This is the case after I drink ANYTHING....even water...........
  7. I was also banded on the 27th. Just got back to work today (I had a hernia repair as well). I am right there with ya on the 3-week liquid diet....but it hasn't been all that hard for me so far since I am not hungry at all (beats the starvation liquid diet pre-op)...LOL... Anyway... Happy New Year to Us!!!!!
  8. Well, today is day 2 of my pre-op liquid diet. We have my work Christmas Luncheon today. So much of our lives center around food. Two of my Christmas gifts yesterday were food...one box of chocolates, and the other a gift card to El Chico..........and I do love Mexican food..... Haha.. I am trying to be brave and keep it all in perspective.... In the long run--what is one Christmas dinner or two???? I am anxiously awaiting surgery----come on Dec. 27th!!! Counting down......

  11. My dear h0pefullh3art, I pray that your next day will be better. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.
  12. I will sure check on it. Thank you for the suggestion. I hope all goes well for you on the 20th!.....Just a week away!!!!
  13. Hi! I am new here, and right now I am two weeks pre-op. My surgery is scheduled for December 27th. I will begin my pre-op liquid diet on 12/22/11. I just had my endoscopy done yesterday, and everything went well. I have my post-op meds filled already, but now am trying to find a good protein shake for the liquid phase of my diet (both pre and post op). I must admit that I am getting a little nervous.
  14. Oh, I soooo hear ya! I am two weeks pre-op and trying to get everything ready for the big day. A little depression setting in, but I think it is because the days seem to be longer while I'm in the waiting. Not to mention I'll be on the liquid diet all through Christmas. Trying to wrap my mind around the idea that in the long-term scheme of things--one Christmas dinner missed is not a huge deal.......... It will all be worth it in the end........
