The biggest surprise for me was the pain in my back (I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time). It was excrutiating! I was pretty well prepared for the rest, but that knocked me off of my feet!!!

Welcome, and Congratulations!!! Best wishes for a year of blessings and triumphs!!!

Broke The 300 Pound Barrier!!!
godsgirlnky commented on caligalles's blog entry in Post-Op Appt / 1st Fill!
Congratulations!!!!!....It's a great feeling!!!! -
I am right there with ya--week two of no loss (but no gain either). I have had several friends that have advised me that once on mushies this could happen. I am just now starting back on solids, and I have my first fill on the 25th--hoping that will push things along.......... Let me know as you make progress through this plateau.....

Well, I had my first post-op appointment yesterday and all went well. Dr. Snow told me that I am healing up nicely and doing good. I mentioned that my weight loss had stopped after going on mushies and he asked how much I was eating. Told him 1/2 cup for breakfast, and same for lunch and dinner. Liquids in between. I am not hungry between meals--though I have no restriction yet. He told me I could actually be eating a little bit more than that and showed me a plate in his office that is marked with the different food groups. I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and purchased 3 plates of the same size, along with a few cocktail forks....but they were out of the small spoons, so I will still be using baby spoons until they get some more in......oh well..... I am keeping a sense of humor about it. I also have a few baby plates that are sectioned too..........but I won't be using those while company is present.... haha I go back in another two weeks for my first adjustment (Jan 25th), so I am pretty excited about that. I really like Dr. Snow, as he seems to be interested in all aspects of how I am doing with the band--mentally/psychologically as well as physically. I am really glad that I did my homework before actually having the lap-band surgery. It has made this journey so much easier so far........

That is pretty cool!!! Maybe we will be on the same schedule. I go in at 10:15 on the 25th. (I usually pick mid-morning since I live a couple of hours away) -Workinprogress/Icestorm--I too am so ready to be off of mushies. I am not really hungry yet, but I am ready for something with a little texture. Tuna Salad and Chicken Salad are OK for a little bit....but one can only take so much... And, I have stopped losing since I went on mushies. I have not gained any, but the scale is at a stand-still............... Caribear--thank you for the well wishes. I hope you are doing good!

Hello From A Lapband Newbie!
godsgirlnky replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome. I was banded on 12/27/11, so I am pretty new to this myself. I am praying great success on your journey. Let us know how you are doing!!! -
You can do this!!!!!!!! I agree with MochaLee--replacing one meal a day with a protein shake really does help. I replaced my evening meal, as I am not too active after supper. Let us know how you are doing!!!

Great job!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

I'm with B-52... CHEETOS....... but I am just two weeks post-op so I haven't gotten brave enough to try it...................

I agree with everyone here. It is not surprising that we all have many of the same fears. I hang on to this verse for dear life: Phillipians 4-6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Worry is unhealthy--concern is healthy.......... Be concerned sure, and study and investigate the options....but don't let fear hold you back......

Ill Fitting Clothes
godsgirlnky commented on new chapter in life's blog entry in starting a new chapter
I have to share a story from the lady that first introduced me to the idea of the lap-band. She had lost so much weight that she could no longer wear her pants, so she instead opted for dresses....well.... she was shopping in a department store one day (will not mention which one), when her, uh-hem--undergarment fell down around her ankles..... her story--she just stepped right out of them and kept on a-walkin'.............. I wish I could have been there with a camera!!!! -
I really liked Dr. Snow. I pray all the best for you and hope you can join the January 2012 Bandsters.... I am just about to start week 3 post-op. It is definitely an adjustment, but Dr. Snow's team is sooooooooo supportive and informative..... Good luck!!!

First Week After First Fill (and Another Picture Lol)
godsgirlnky commented on legnarevocrednu's blog entry in legnarevocrednu's Blog
I am feeling some of that uncomfortableness already and I have not yet had my first fill. And the picture is beautiful!!!--Even if we can't see your pretty face................... -
Congrats on being banded! (I know that sounds so weird)... but I too find that my new best friend is a blessing. And, after a week and a half---I'm still not hungry.................. I hope it remains a constant....... Many prayers for your continued healing!!!

I know this liquid diet really bites.... but you can do this!!!
-
I am so excited for you. I was just banded on Dec. 27th, so I am still adjusting to life with the band.--and I'm down 17 lbs already!!! (of course, that is all liquid diet)..... Will be thinking of you tomorrow!!!
-
Your story sounds very very similar to my own. I was just banded on Dec. 27th, and so I am just adjusting to the band (still on soft foods as well). I finally made the decision because I wanted to grow old...and I wanted to enjoy it. I want to watch my children grow up and have families of their own, and I want to some day bounce my grandchildren on my knee (without it tiring me out-and God willing). At 310 lbs, I knew that wasn't likely to happen. This was a decision that took a LOT of prayer, and a LOT of study. I looked into each option and this was the best for me. My insurance also has a total exclusion, but I found a doctor that had a flat rate for self pay. It turned out that I also had a hiatal hernia that needed repairing before he could place the band. Since my insurance would pay for that part, it took care of the hospital, anesthesiologist, etc.... so the band was the only thing left out of pocket.... I wish you all the best in your decision. Looking to God and toward the Future- Nikki

Banded December 27, 2011--From Burkburnett, TX
-
I was banded on 12/27/11, and I have been burping ALOT since. I thought it was still some of the gas from surgery, but from what you all are saying, this is going to be pretty normal? This is the case after I drink ANYTHING....even water...........

Just Banded 12/27!!!
godsgirlnky replied to sillymama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was also banded on the 27th. Just got back to work today (I had a hernia repair as well). I am right there with ya on the 3-week liquid diet....but it hasn't been all that hard for me so far since I am not hungry at all (beats the starvation liquid diet pre-op)...LOL... Anyway... Happy New Year to Us!!!!! -
Well, today is day 2 of my pre-op liquid diet. We have my work Christmas Luncheon today. So much of our lives center around food. Two of my Christmas gifts yesterday were food...one box of chocolates, and the other a gift card to El Chico..........and I do love Mexican food..... Haha.. I am trying to be brave and keep it all in perspective.... In the long run--what is one Christmas dinner or two???? I am anxiously awaiting surgery----come on Dec. 27th!!! Counting down......

Hi! I am new here, and right now I am two weeks pre-op. My surgery is scheduled for December 27th. I will begin my pre-op liquid diet on 12/22/11. I just had my endoscopy done yesterday, and everything went well. I have my post-op meds filled already, but now am trying to find a good protein shake for the liquid phase of my diet (both pre and post op). I must admit that I am getting a little nervous.
