Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
From what I have seen/heard almost EVERYONE loses some hair. I tried to "beef up" my hair before the surgery and am taking GNC's beBeautiful supplements now with some added biotin.

Bariatric Humor - Laugh To Keep From Crying!
This reminds me of something I tell my friends all the time here at UCSB. Everyone says they are afraid to walk alone at night and I always say, "Look at me, I am twice as big as all the guys that go here!" -- most of the boys here are shorter and thinner like surfer guys.

Boobs - Implants Without A Lift?
My mom lost about 40 pounds that she had gained during the stay at home mom period and decided to get implants when she saw her boobs disappear. She had small saggy-ish bag looking things for boobs and she just got nice big B/small C implants put in (she is only 5 feet tall and weighs around 102 pounds now) and they look great. They still have a little natural sag, which I think is ok for her -- she is 42 -- put they are perky enough to where she doesn't need a bra with a halter top or something. Longish story short : So it can be done!

College And Surgery
Oh I also wanted to add that I go to parties, I hang out with friends and what not and have never had it interfere. My life is exactly the same except for my tummy and what I eat.

College And Surgery
I am ending my sophomore year at UCSB and had my surgery during our 1 week spring break. No problems at all. I work 28ish hours a week at a dining common on campus and take 21 units. I haven't had any trouble managing at all. I just bring Snacks to long classes, in the beginning shakes, and remember to drink Water constantly! I also bike to campus and back (about 30 mins total) and started doing that about 9 days after surgery. You gals will do fine!

Have I Messed Up Too Bad?
I have heard of people not even following their pre-op diet at all and being cleared for surgery, not that I would EVER recommend anyone doing that! So I am going to say you are probably fine. The diets vary so much and the whole point is to shrink the liver which can be achieved by reducing calorie intake and carb intake. I am sure you will be fine! Don't worry too much and focus on the future and following it from now on!

Has Anyone Tried Isopure Protein Water
Biotin is supposed to help with hair growth. It has mixed reviews from people on here.

New Boobies
For just breasts? It would be a lift -- take what you have and make it perkier -- or an augmentation -- put in implants. Most people do a combination of the two. You would be surprised at how nice small saggy boobies can look with a good lift and no implant.

So I Got Sick..... My Doc Says It Is Because Of Too Little Calories
Just to clarify, dehydration was a side effect of my illness, I couldn't keep anything down and stopped trying to drink Water for fear of vomiting. I too have read that low calorie diets lengthen lifetimes and increase immune system function, but these were 1500 calorie diets which would be low for normal people. I did read something recently where too low calorie of a diet can actually hurt your body's chances of fighting off infections or viruses. But nothing really about preventing them in the first place. I have some yummy hot and sour Soup now that cleared up my nose nicely!

So I Got Sick..... My Doc Says It Is Because Of Too Little Calories
Hey everyone! I am sick, oh so sick. I have the terrible flu and ended up going to the hospital last night because I was so dehydrated. They hooked me up to an IV and pumped me so full with sodium chloride that I gained weight! Anywho, my doc said the reason I am getting sick is because I am not eating enough calories. He said I need 1200 to 1400 to keep my immune system healthy and I am averaging around 700 to 800 now. Has anyone else heard this? I am taking my Vitamins, supplements, getting in almost all my Protein and Water in (except for this week) and still got super sick. We are talking crazy vomiting every ten minutes sick. So I was wondering if maybe their is some truth behind what my doc said.

Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
Tons of people on here have kept their surgery a secret. I chose not to, I told everyone -- my coworkers, friends, family, strangers -- I felt that I was comfortable enough with this that I didn't care what people thought. So far I haven't had any negativity, just tons of support. I have even had a few people who are going to check it out and see if they want to have it too! Whatever you chose to do is a deeply personal decision and depends on your comfortableness with letting people know your personal affairs.

Fruit
I was never told anything about fruit, except bananas because they can clump together. II have eaten fruit from about 3 weeks out and haven't had any trouble with them. The best for me are melons, they feel nice on Hamilton (my sleeve).

Will I Ever Have Abs?
Oh be careful with self tanner! I just did myself the other day and it made my stretch marks more noticeable, I am tan and they are white! I went online and apparently you are supposed to tan them first -- with a q-tip soaked in tanner -- and then do the rest of you a day later.

Will I Ever Have Abs?
Thanks everyone! I guess I just have to hope I am young enough and my skin likes me enough to bounce back! Lissa, I too would be delighted just to have a flat stomach

How Long After Surgery Before You Felt Good?
BetterthanIwasB4, I too had a terrible time in recovery. I was crying and a mess and kept saying I was having a heart attack. The nurses finally just gave me an oxygen mask and left me alone. Looking back, I think it was just the stress of anesthesia and the gas.

Belly Button Pain?
I had some minor pain with mine the other day, around 6 weeks out. I thought I might have started getting a leak and freaked out, but no other symptoms came and the pain passed in a day or two. I think I lifted something too heavy at work. I offered to pick up a bunch of pans and I think I strained something. :/

How Long After Surgery Before You Felt Good?
I felt good the second day. I went to Ensenada for a day trip on the second day. It took about 3 hours to get there, walked for 6 hours and drove the three back. On the third day after I drove 8 hours -- me driving the whole time. So I felt good right away. I think the important thing is to get up and walk around. I felt immediately better as soon as I got up.

Calling All Dr. Ponce Patients!
That was the diet I got as well. I decided to do my own and did 1 week shakes during the day and lean meat for dinner. I did conclude with his three day though, so I really did about a week and a half. I didn't lose anything at all on it though, so I would've rather just done his three day one.

5% of 1%?
Luckily for me, almost everyone in college is an agnostic or atheist! It feels so nice to be open about it. I too was shocked that so many bring religion into a medical procedure. Most surgeons I have met, I have met a lot trust me, are atheists. I remember some woman basing her surgeon on if he was a "good christian"! I thought that was so scary.

Relationship Troubles
I am going through the exact same thing. My fiance and I have been together for 3 and a half years. Something kind of just started happening in the past few months and I find myself irritated with him for no reason. He will send me a text saying he loves me or misses me (we are long distance -- only a few hours) and I will be annoyed. Like he is interrupting my day. The thing is that I love him, he is a great guy, he has put up with my family problems, my crazy mother, and has always been there for me. But I am so bored and annoyed. I find myself flirting with coworkers and wishing I didn't have him. What makes it worse is that he can sense it and always makes comments like, "When you get skinny you are going to leave me for someone more attractive". The thing is, even though he is overweight, I am very much physically attracted to him. But that is all there is lately. Every time he opens his mouth I feel like I want to hit him (ok, more like just sheer annoyance). BBJ, if you figure it out, let me know. I am sorry you are in this situation too. I feel so confused.

Why My Size Is The Same
This is so true! I have lost 32 pounds now and just went from a 20 to an 18. I have a muffin top in my 18 though, but I am wearing them! lol And it is not because I haven't lost inches -- I lost 5 inches from right across my tummy (bellybutton) and about 3 from my waist. I hadn't realized how dang tight my pants were! I looked at some pictures and thought, "How did I not bust a seam while bending over??" I can still wear my 20 in GAP jeans, but my Lee's are too big. My boobs have gone down about a cup size though, so I guess there is that too! Hang in there, it will happen!

Running
How exciting! I am with Nancy, I really want to run but first would like to be at a lower weight. I am terrified of having a bad experience with it and having it discourage me from trying again!

Will I Ever Have Abs?
I should've said anyone besides BlackBerryJuice! I started out about 60 pounds heavier than you, but hopefully I can still make it to where you are!

Will I Ever Have Abs?
I was working out today, juts doing one of Leslie Sanson's videos and using my HRM to see how much I burned, when I started to wonder about how my body will change. I started surfing Pinterest for some fitness tips and saw all these photos of gals with amazing abs. Will I ever have them? I have kind of come to terms with the fact that I will never wear a bikini (too many stretch marks! Damn you Latin skin!) but it would be nice to have a 6 pack even if it was covered with a few marks. Has anyone who has been sleeved ever gotten to be so tight that they look like that? I am crazy to hope that someday I can have them?

Driving A Week After?
I drove the third day out, for a whole 8 hours. As long as you aren't on pain meds you should be fine.
