If You Could Really Turn Back Time, Would You Get Banded Again??
I am 4 months out and down 50 lbs. I ran my first 5K last month when just 3 months ago I couldn't walk a mile. I have more energy and feel better than I have in years. At 31 I was taking blood pressure meds 2x a day. I am no longer on meds and am training for my next 5K. I am working on a 12 minute mile. I have NEVER run a 12 minute mile in my life!!! I would absolutely do it again only sooner!!

Calorie Intake
My nutritionist does not think anyone should be below 1200 a day because the body does react to so few calories. HoWEVeR - you all are so soon past surgery you are still healing. At that point I was probably taking in about 600 -700 calories. I am now 4 months out and take in between 1200 and 1400 a day but I also exercise daily and burn a minimum of 500 at the gym. I was told not to take in less than 1200 no matter what. I have lost 50 lbs since surgery.

December Bandsters!
Have you started adding regular exercise? I only ask because I work out at least 5 days a week and that's the ONLY way I got here. I just know I wouldn't be seeing anything close to 50lbs if I weren't exercising as well.

Beans
Totally agree that they are good for you. I am vegetarian so beans count for much of my protein. I love black beans so I measure them on order to prevent eating too much of them.

So I Guess I Failed Already ......
I'm there with u. I was banded on 12/6. I am not making the best choices right now and my stomach is rumbling away all the time. Having my husband around helps. He is so good about helping me stay on track. The trouble is I'm on vacay and home with the kids and he has been working late. It's not a good cOmbo.

Doctor Visit Nsv/and The Negatives Around It.
I am right there with u. I am a little over 3 weeks out and I am hungry! I can't wait for my first fill next week. I need some restriction to help slow me down. I am not expecting magic but I am eating more than the 6oz my doc says should be enough. Well, it's not! I eat more like 8-12 oz. !!!!

Looking for a buddy in Kingston
Saint Francis offers monthly support groups. Call the hospital and ask for nancy case - nutritionist that does the group. You could also ask for dr Artuso's office for the next meeting.

Getting My First Lap Band Fill Tomorrow What To Expect
I can't wait for my first fill. I have been eating between a cup and a cup and a half of food and the doc says I should be only eating 6oz at most. I am still hungry after 6oz. :-/ I was banded on the 6th and have my fill next week.

8 Days Post Lap Band Surgery 19 Pounds Lost?!
I had a similar post last week! I'm 11 days post op now and am absolutely on the "what have I done!?" phase. I am mostly good but I have moments where I just want to cry. I made this decision for a healthy life with my family and I keep reminding myself of all the wonderful things I will enjoy that are not food related. I was 282 pre-op and today am 265. I would love to workout but I continue to remind myself that I am healing. I walk all day at work so for now that will have to be enough.

14 Pounds Post Lap Band Surgery?
I can't believe my scale is right. It says 268. Day of surgery I was 282. Is this really possible? It hasn't even been a week. I was banded on the 6th. Am I losing my mind? Is my scale broke?

2 Weeks Post Lap Band Surgery And It's Time To Eat!
I was banded on the 6th and I am just now starting to feel hungry. Thankfully I get to do puréed foods tomorrow. I am hungry!

December Bandsters!
Protein drink. Morning snack is 4oz small curd cottage cheese. Lunch is puréed black beans. Afternoon snack will likely be applesauce or protein drink. Dinner is homemade potato soup. I'm so excited to move away from clear liquids! Yay!

December Bandsters!
I was also banded on 12/6. I have a 10cc lap-band. I was allowed my first purée today and I chose applesauce. I didn't finish the 3oz. I was just done after about 1.5oz. Tomorrow is my first day back at work. I'm a little worried about the gas because I'm a teacher. I'm sure I'll have the kindergarteners on hysterics. I already have my entire menu for tomorrow set aside. For breakfast is a bolthouse farms

Lap Band Surgery Day 3, Talk Me Down!
I was banded on the 6th and was so upset yesterday that I cried! I could have sworn I was told purée is fine after 3 days but when I talked to my surgeon he said not to start until Monday. Frick. I bawled like a baby. Then I had a nice day including "eating" out with my family. I had orange spice tea while they ate. I felt super hungry when they had pizza for dinner. I'm just dying to have black bean soup and homemade squash soup that I cooked 2 days ago and froze. I wish I had advice but I am right there with you. I just take it one moment at a time.

Newly Lap Banded
I'm so excited for tomorrow. I should be able to start puréed foods. My doc has me on 5 meals each of 3 oz of liquid (protein or juice or my vegetarian jello). The rest of the day is all water all day. I'm actually feeling really good today. I get to shower tomorrow and couldn't be happier about it. I am feeling hungry though. Nothing too bad but it's creeping back. Any tips for keeping hunger at bay at this stage?
