  1. JDI130: Thank you so much! I thought there was a way. I just did it! Love this feature!
  2. Just wondering if you can scan food info from my Android smart phone? If so, how do you do it?
  3. Thank you all! Yes, it is a great feeling. Kudo's to all those here who have met their small goals along the way to getting to the ulitmate goal. It doesn't matter if it's onderland, or any other "land", it's our unique goal to acheive.
  4. Mary, apparently you've hit a few milestones seeing you've lost 60lbs already. That's awesome! 16lbs is just around the corner. You can do it.
  5. Thank you all and wishing you all the success!
  6. I broke the sound barrier, if you will, in the world of WLS! I hit 199! AND on my 3 month bandiversary!!! It feels so good to look down at the scale and see that. Of course, I took a picture of it so I can be reminded how good it feels but really don't need the picture as it just feels so good every day when I wake up and feel good mentally & physically. My confidence level is soaring {but not cocky :-) }which was a major component on deciding on the lapband as well as the physical side of it. Having more energy to do things, being positive, changing my old habits that got me to where I was is just part of this process. I still have a ways to go and that's ok. It'll give me more time to utilize the tools given to me through the band and through this wonderful website as well as looking towards the future when I hit my goal and deal with the fact of maintaining, another major factor in this process. Being addicted to food is a life time problem for me so I know when I hit my goal, it isn't over., it's for life. It ain't over until the fat lady sings and I am 95 and still living la vida loco! It is a team effort. As well as the support from this forum in general, the major support comes from "my" January Bandsters. I love you guys, through thick and thin, no pun intended! LOL Now, the major thought here, it's Friday, the weekend is coming up, we're having a family farewell early Cinco de Mayo party with tapas, etc. Will I be able to sustain the 199 on the scale by Monday morning? I'm not going to think about it, I feel great today, and I have the picture to prove it even if it's just for today!!!
  7. Tweety, that's the reason I got it. When I work out, {mornings} I make a chocolate protein shake with banannas and peanut butter. It's ohhhh so good, but don't want or need all that fat. I can't wait to get it today!
  8. I just ordered mine from Amazon and it's coming tomorrow. Can't wait. Hear from everyone how good it is.
  9. CPT Code15830: Excision; Excessive skin & subcutaneous tissue {includes lipectomy} aabdomen, infraumbilical panniculectomy CPT Code 15847: Includes above plus abdominoplasty umbilial transpostion & facscial plication. These are the two common CPT codes we used in the plastic surgery practice I worked in. Good luck.
  10. Honk, I like your thoughts on choosing something bad to eat, and having your dr see you eat it! Adorkbl &b Stephy: Love avocado's! However, there're two things I will not improvise or switch re: foods. Olive oil, extra light virgin, and Hellman's Mayo with Tuna or Shrimp salad. I use hummus alot in place of other foods. When I eat either salad, it's very little so I'm not concerned about that. It's just other things I eat, noticing after journaling my foods on MFP, the high numbers of carbs and fat.
  11. Now that I got the rule of thumb down on PO fills, thanks to all of you who replied, I now am wondering about what we put in our mouths on a daily basis. As I'm using MFP and Fitbit, I'm concerned if I'm eating too much fat and carbs. I know most nutritionists/surgeons don't put emphasis on how many calories we should be eating daily but typically, how many grms of fat and carbs {complex} is too much in one day? Right now, I'm not really counting the two as much as trying to get in my proteins which can be tuna salad {1/2 cup} with regular mayo and even protein drinks {one in the morning with 1 tsp of peanut butter}. I am losing weight which isn't an issue but just wondering if we there is a standard amount of fat & carbs we should NOT go over in a healthy manner.
  12. That is awesome. You must be flying high right now. I know I would be and will when my day comes.
  13. Thanks all, I so appreciate it! I will write that down for the next fill. Just had a spoonful of shrimp salad and it's not going down so well. Duh!
  14. I had my second fill yesterday and while the Dr was giving me my instructions afterward, my ADD mind was elsewhere. I forgot the rule of thumb PO. Is it 24 hrs liquids? I know all Drs have different methods but for the most part, what are the rules? Thanks so much.
  15. It does get better. While focusing on the post op healing, one day you realize, the discomfort is gone. It does take time, and everyone heals differently.
  16. Holly, you wear it on your wrist with a band they give you. Somehow, it tracks your sleep activity, how long it takes for you to go to sleep, how many times you wake up and how many hours you actually sleep. It's cool.
  17. Many of us January Bandsters have the fitbit. The first I heard of it was on here with all the others'. I think Amazon and BestBuy had a major spike in sales in February due to many of us buying it! I love mine and am never without it. Love the MFP/FitBit programs too!
  18. Hmm, Violet, that's odd, because I can, although I don't usually do this, I do have the ability. .
  19. I use straws all the time as I feel I can control the gulps too and haven't had a problem so far.
  20. Laney, I have BSofNJ Direct Access and it covered both my husband & myself, 100%. Never knew how long the wait period was as my Dr's office scheduled my surgery a month and a half out from my initial visit and that was only because I couldn't do it sooner. I went through all the testing required and then I heard from the staff I was precerted. I'm not sure, but I think they have to wait for all the testing to come in, making sure you're a candidate and then get the precert. We were both assured from the get go we wouldn't have to worry about getting precerted.
  21. Congratulations! You not only feel like a million but will look like a million bucks! As well as being the talk at the Easter dinner table. Enjoy and soak it all up, you deserve it!
  22. I have gels and just had to remove polish from one fingernail and one toe for pulse ox too.
  23. I had my 1st fill in early March, {2.5cc's} and thought the same thing as you. I couldn't relate to other's here, however just last week ,I had a major pbing Friday & Saturday. Not sure if it was the food as I ate the same thing days before and had no problem, or did I not chew it well enough but it was a good 45 min episode of major discomfort. The next day I had another issue with something which I chewed really well, but I think it was due to the effects from the day before. The rest of the weekend, I drank protein drinks and real soft foods and haven't had a problem since.
  24. Working for a professional ophthamology practice for 20 years gave me insight, no pun here, to ever evolving medical procedures that were attacked on TV news shows, magazines, etc. You will always find someone who has a bad reaction, experience, etc to something they've had. When the RK {correct myopia with a blade which I had done BTW} became popular here in the early 90's, Laser resurfacing {diminishing wrinkles} Lasik {correcting myopia with a lazer} and EVEN Botox which was originally used to relax twitches in the eye area, we always had to wait for the onslaught of naysayers' to die down and educate the community with real percentages {as Shoshanna has succintly done above}. From what I read and researched before having this procedure I was extremely comfortable with my choice in the lapband as well as with my surgeon and his staff. Having said that, my cousin had this procedure back when it was in the early studies and she has never had a problem and has kept her weight loss of 100lbs down since then. I'm still a "newbie" as I'm 9 weeks out today and so far, I've not had any problems. I am loving this tool and how it's teaching me to eat to live, not live to eat.
  25. I had a BMI of 37.9 prior to surgery. Aside from having arthritic knees, I have no co-morbidities. I have Horizon BS of NJ and they approved it. It all depends on what your employer's coverage allows. However, we're seeing more and more insurance companies covering the lapband surgeries as they can save money in the long run as long. Wishing you good luck and they approve of your sugery.
