  1. Myrori, I love this response! "If regular diet and exercise were the answer for everyone, then no one would be fat."
  2. I feel like this is common for men to do this. I've definitely experienced it; my ex used to always complain about my weight and then bring home pizza and burritos for us to eat for dinner--even after I told him I had prepared something healthy for us to eat. I think they just don't understand how this affects us... but hang in there. It gets easier!
  3. Hi Dawn, Welcome to VSG forum! You'll find lots of support here, and an answer for practically every question you might have! Your story really touched me because it's kind of how I felt before I started. I think you are really ready to make a big change, and I believe you'll be very successful! There are so many great success stories here, and I hope you find some inspiration here!
  4. Patti, I'm so sorry for your loss, but happy that you are back on the wagon! Kathy, way to go on starting your workouts back! Me, I am upping my workouts, and focusing on my Protein and vites! Here is the plan for today... B - 1 veggie sausage L - 1.5 chicken tenders S - Protein shake D - Turkey pot pie minus the crust Water - working on it Vits - halfway done Exercise - did intervals at the gym--yowch!
  5. I honestly think this is something that people who have never been overweight CANNOT understand. It's something they've never experienced, so the lifelong struggle, the difficulty of being overweight, the constant uphill battle is something that they just don't know. Also, because it's a surgery, she's probably frightened something will go wrong. I think maybe if you share what you've gone through, maybe your sister will understand. I was shocked when my surgeon had me list all the diets I've been on over the years. It was a list of something like 20 diets!!! I also think if you get her to check out this site, she might see the number of very healthy and happy people who have had this surgery. Regardless, I'm sure they will come around eventually. Sometimes it takes people time to adjust.
  6. Oh, I hope you get there! That's the best Bday present, EVAR! Rooting for you!!!!
  7. Honestly, I was so out of it, I don't remember anything from the day of my surgery, from whenever I woke up to the getting me into my bed. I didn't really feel fully conscious until the next day. My guess is that if you do wake up, it will be really brief and you won't be "with it" enough to be traumatized.
  8. You are soooooo close to Onederland! So excited for you!

  10. (Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic, but....) Holy wow! 305 lbs! That's simply amazing! Congratulations on your amazing success!
  11. I think you are fine so long as you listen when your stomach tells you to stop. I do find if I eat too quickly that I sometimes can eat a bit too much and feel nauseous afterwards, so watch out for that! Also, yogurt might be considered a bit of a slider food since it's semi-liquid. I know I can eat almost a cup of soup, but I still can only eat an ounce or so of chicken...
  12. Great suggestions, thanks guys!!! I also got some almond flour to use for breading, and that seems to work, too!
  13. Wow, it's neat to see that after a month you can see so much change! Congratulations on your success! You and your hubby look great (and how awesome that you get to do it together!)!
  14. Please don't let others' judgements stop you from doing something you really want to do for yourself. Frankly, your husband's parents sound really mean. Rolling his eyes at a wedding proposal? That just sounds childish. I don't think you should let such negative people sway your choice to do something positive for yourself. I would, however, ask your husband to stop sharing all your personal information with his family. You don't need their negativity!!!
  15. I tried baby food, and I found it pretty gross! I'd go with the options above!
  16. Breakfast: Powershake (Protein, 1/4 apple, 1/4 banana, 1 tsp vitaminerals, I tsp vit. C, 1 drop Vitamin D) S: veggie sausage L: turkey meatloaf (1-2 oz) + Calcium S: half a protein shake D: chicken soup + Vitamins that should put me high on the protein scale, and high on vitamin scale!
  17. Yeah, I think that's an amazing compliment! I really hope you do it!!
  18. Hey, thanks for checking in!!! I am doing really well, loving my sleeve so far! I've lost 45 lbs since Dec. 14, and I feel much lighter on my feet already! I am tolerating just about everything (except I am scared to try beef or pork ), and I'm feeling good! Hope everyone else is doing well!
  19. Yay! I have to remember to try clothes on! I have clothes in literally every size from 10-26, lol! What an awesome surprise!!!!
  20. I am not secretive about it, but nor do I shout it from the rooftops. I think there are great reasons for both. For me, I just feel like it's a matter of privacy. I never felt like it was anyone's right to ask me questions and probe me about my weight, and that is something that I've always found offensive. I don't ask people about their weight because I don't feel like it's any of my business. Perhaps I am defensive after all those years of people giving me subtle and not so subtle suggestions about what I should do about my weight problem. At the end of the day, I just don't feel like my body is anyone's business but my own (and the man I am intimate with). However, I'd happily share the info with someone who was obese and seeking help.
  21. Hahahahahahaha. During TOM, I see a treadmill and I start whimpering :-) I think yours is a much better reaction!
  22. Thanks guys! Maybe my stomach acid is higher around TOM? I already take a PPI daily, but maybe I need to take zantac during TOM. It definitely feels like hunger because my stomach is growling and feels really empty, but when I try to eat, there's nothing I *want* to eat. Whatever it is, something is off :-). Guess I'll just chalk up to one of the many joys of Aunt Flo!
  23. Updated! I suddenly dropped 3 lbs, woot! SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Lila.......................259...............256 ............230..............26
  24. That is awesome! I can't wait to get to my halfway point! What a great feeling! Go do something fun to celebrate your success!!!!
  25. I craved food a LOT during the clear liquid phase (I think I even dreamed about it!), and also during the full liquid phase. Once I got to mushies, I was fine. Just hang in there! It gets better!!!
