- Day 1 post Op Band to Bypass
Congrats and welcome to the Revision club! Did they warn you that your weight loss might be slower than "typical" with the revision? If not, be aware, but don't let it get you down, I'm done 100 lbs since my pre-revision check in, so, we can do it just as well as first timers!- I need HELP!!! Will my lapband work again???
Statistically the band fails more often than not. If it didn't then major manufacturers wouldn't have packed up shop and stopped making parts. Surgeons all over the world wouldn't have stopped installing them. I find it funny that folks continue to push it, with all the slippage, erosions, scar tissue issues, that people swear up and down that those that failed... failed and it wasn't the bands fault. For me, The band did not perform the way it needed to. The healthy foods I should have had no issues with, were nothing but problems. And whereas I didn't have any erosion or slippage, my band was 100% encapsulated in scar tissue and was a problem that required removal. No one is going to tell me that I failed the band. The band failed me. This is pretty clear with my continued weight loss with the revision to bypass, if it was I that failed the band... then the bypass would not be working as effectively as it currently is, now, I'm able to eat those healthy foods that the band prevented me from eating. But still, the majority of failures are not the fault of the user. Some, sure, but majority... no.- Weight gain
There is nothing stopping you from starting over. Do a "pre-op" prep diet, then fast for a day or 2 pretending you just had surgery, then start your recovery post-op diet from scratch. It's hard, but it's totally doable, seriously NOTHING is stopping you from starting over. Also check into Intermittent Fasting (IF), the science is sound and, it's free. There are a few of us on here doing it and I can say with 100% certainty that it has helped me out drastically. I was getting stalled hard around 230-235. I picked up IF and I'm down to 210 now... it's gotten a bit harder overall, but, 20-25 lbs of extra weight loss I can attribute to IF.- Mommies getting sleeved
Everyone in my immediate family has benefited from my surgery, my boys are doing great and are at healthy weights, my wife has lost a few of the extra lbs she wanted to, we are all doing more and eating better. And I know that I won't end up dying younger than I should because of the weight or a weight related issue. Now it's back up to good old fate.- Mommies getting sleeved
Getting the surgery, and following all the proper rules surrounding it, will be the best thing you can do for your kids. Hands down.- Approval Letter
Congrats!- Nov 2018 Hydration Challenge
I only log in to update my log in count and add my weight when it drops. Haven't logged anything as far as food or water in years.- Nov 2018 Hydration Challenge
Ya'll can add me, "MJZeigler78" on MFP.- Water
If it sounds pretentious, you are reading too much into it. I don't generally type with any inflection or emotion, just facts as they are. No need to go looking for something to be offended by here. Just the text on the screen and that's it. I'm on the spectrum, so, anything you are reading into my words are not my intention or purpose. I don't typically type with hidden meaning.- Newbie introduction ☺
Welcome to the boards! Good luck! Lots of changes coming your way!- Journey Begins 10/22/2018
Congrats! Lots of changes coming your way!- Water
128 oz is 1 gallon of water. Very un-random LOL.- Why only liquid
All the above, it's to allow for healing. It sucks, but it's worth it in the long run, you REALLY don't want to push things too fast and end up with a problem that'll need more surgery to correct.- Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Stressed and frustrated. Hoping that 210-215 isn't my lower limit... now to try to double down and get back on tract... 22 days until my "deadline"... lots of stress in my life right now too that I'm sure isn't helping matters .at.all. sigh.- Water
It's actually from "more current" research based on required amounts of water that the body actually needs. Even the older "3 liters of water" requirement is 101.442 oz of water a day. It seems like a lot, until you reach it.. then it's not really that much. "The report did not specify exact requirements for water, but set general recommendations for women at approximately 2.7 liters (91 ounces) of total water -- from all beverages and foods -- each day, and men an average of approximately 3.7 liters (125 ounces daily) of total water." http://www.nationalacademies.org/hmd/Reports/2004/Dietary-Reference-Intakes-Water-Potassium-Sodium-Chloride-and-Sulfate.aspx These totals are for healthy, non-WLS patient, humans. I stress trying to hit 128 oz because of the added water requirements WLS patients need in order to properly process fat. There is such thing as "too much" water, however, 128 oz is quite far from that "too much" level. "Prolonged physical activity and heat exposure will increase water losses and therefore may raise daily fluid needs, although it is important to note that excessive amounts can be life-threatening." Water intoxication (hypronatremia) occurs when one consumes more than 27-33 oz in 1 hour, this is due to the kidneys max elimination rate. The kidneys can eliminate about 5-7 gallons of water a day (20-28 liters). So as you can see, 128 oz is very far from too much water. The science supports 128 oz a day as a smart goal for proper hydration AND fat loss. WLS patients need more water to support fat loss, if you aren't meeting your bodies daily minimum to meet hydration levels, fat loss will not occur or will suffer greatly. There is evidence that simply consuming 1 gallon of water a day, without making any other changes to exercise, diet, or any other habits (in an intact human *aka non-WLS) for 30 days will results in weight loss due to increased hydration and fat processing. https://www.mydomaine.com/drinking-a-gallon-of-water-a-day https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/voices/i-drank-a-gallon-of-water-every-day-for-a-month-and-this-is-what-happened/ar-BBLp5ZO https://www.ksl.com/?sid=39748294 My data and advice typically always comes from factual, scientific evidence, research or confirmed sources. I'm not typically in the habit of providing information based on hearsay, rumor or things that have been made up with no basis in fact or with no scientific evidence to support them. My advice to try to hit 128+ oz a day, is factually sound based on current scientific research and evidence. I must point out that I'm not saying you *HAVE* to meet that daily, only that you should be trying to meet that daily. it really does help, not only to keep hunger in check, but to ensure proper toxin flushing, which WLS patients really need with all the fat loss as well, AND it ensures that your body has the best environment for fat removal, processing and elimination.- Premier Protein Shakes
LOL I knew you were joking...- Premier Protein Shakes
I'm not sure it works that way, just a passing thought I put into words and submitted to a site. Not sure it's worth it overall given I think the max payout is like... $40.- Beltectomy/circumfrential
How'd it go?- Tummy Tuck with muscle repair plus bilateral arm lift
Looks really good! I know that I'm already planning on telling the doc that I don't need a belly button... seems like a hard part of the surgery overall, for a purely aesthetic body part. Got a LONG way to go before that's even an option at this point.- Couping With Tight Days Pouch Days...

How are you getting reports from the future??? 2108... that's intense! LOL- Caffeine problems...
Caffeine causes your intestines to flood with water. Are you adding any calcium to your coffee at all? Calcium and Caffeine bind together. This is one of the reasons docs want folks to limit their caffeine intake, because of the calcium binding effect. But you can use this to your advantage, add a decent amount of fat free milk to your coffee and see if that helps/changes things. I use this daily to keep things moving and clear. Wake up, cup of coffee with sugar free sweetened creamer, some fat free milk, then pretty much as soon as I'm done, I down 3 large mouthfuls of water and let the cleanse begin.- Thank You For My Birthday Pressie
My 40th Birthday is in 25 days, my 20th wedding anniversary is in 23 days. Just sayin... LOL- When should you get fluid removed from the band?
Sounds like you need to go back. If you can't drink liquids without issue... then you are too tight. - Day 1 post Op Band to Bypass
